After the installation my tailgate cable try to pass to the right of the shock causing it not to be able to close the tailgate. I always have to move the cable to the left of the shock to get the tailgate to close and I still feel it binding just a little. The package came with these 2 ting medal clips with no instruction where they go. But in the end the shock is doing its job as advertised. It took me about 35 minutes to complete.
I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if removing the rubber bumper resulted in any rattle over rough roads now due to that lack of support when the tailgate is closed?
Unfortunately on mine, the piece that goes on the cable gets caught between the sheet metal behind the taillight and the piston. Pops it off every time.
The instructions say the plastic piece that goes onto the cable to be 5" below the cable measuring right from below the ring where the cable starts. This video say measure 3.5" down from the top of the cable. So I guess somewhere between 3.5" to 5" for the plastic sleeve.
Terrible example too much noise background must be doing it in the parking lot somewhere next to a freeway or something I need to go somewhere where is quiet if you’re going to put on this demonstration.

I went ahead and removed the rubber bumper on the side next to the shock, maybe it will help with the cable sliding.
Omg I love mine, that was the first thing I did also

It's funny my buddy asked me the same thing and the answer is no. Nothing. Thanks for watching.
I love the tailgate assist, I just added remote tailgate release on my 2015 ram and the assist shock helps a ton
It's great, I initially did just because I have small kids but man is it handy.
What? Too much traffic noise.
Sorry, did it on the fly outside of work...

It's in the write up. Thanks for watching
