Definitely. And I particularly appreciated at the time to discover, on buying the album, Dylan had insisted to dedicate it explicitly to Sam Peckinpah. Everyone gave their very best on that most remarkable film.
Brilliant. I still get goosebumps listening to this track. Absolutely superb. I've seen Bob exactly 50 times, wish it was 500. So happy I spent so much of my time getting into Dylan and going to see him all around the country. The best times of my life.

Wonderfully inspired soundtrack for a terrific movie ... Beans, Spinach, Beef Stew, Beans ... Ah the memories, thank you Mr. Dylan for all the enjoyment over so many years ... keep on rollin'.
One of my favorite scenes in one of favorite movies. Great cast, director, story and soundtrack. I just watched The Left Handed Gun with Paul Newman (1958).. written by Gore Vidal, a fact which i did not know. Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid follows the story pretty close. Love the scene with Bob Dylan reading the labels. Can't say enough about the great cast, top to bottom.

That's a really great song. The words are even better than Linda Ronstadt singing Desperodo. My wife loves Bob Dylan, and well, so do I, but Bob Dylan is my wife's heartthrob. I'm okay with that. JR
I use to be young on my grammys farm. Then I left for the west. Still don't mean any harm. Don't care what other people do or say. If the devil's still in them because they refused Holy Spirit, well that is their own choice to just take it that way. As for me, I can't allow myself to lay down that way. Playing with thoughts; Bob was originally planned to be Billy the Kid, but Sam Peckinpah changed his mind and gave the role to Kris Kristofferson. Bob got to make the music instead. What if Bob would have played Billy? Maybe Kris would have made the music. In that case, we wouldn't have Knocking On Heavens Door today.
Wow, I never knew that, but there was a discussion on the movie on Facebook, I said Bob Dylan should have played Billy, Kris for me was badly cast as the young outlaw, I've read a lot about that Lincoln County Wars and Billy The Kid, it was a great movie, maybe Jack Nicholson or even De Niro based on his Mean Streets character was closer to Billy than Kristofferson.

Finally on RUclips, one of Bob's lesser known masterpieces!! The lyrics ...
There's guns across the river about to pound you
There's a lawman on your trail like to surround you
Bounty hunters are dancing all around you
Billy, they don't like you to be so free
Camping out all night on the veranda
Walking in the streets down by the hacienda
Up to Boot Hill they'd like to send you
Billy, don't you turn your back on me
There's mills inside the minds of crazy faces
Bullet holes and rifles in their cases
There is always one more notch in four more aces
Billy, and you're playing all alone
Playing around with some sweet senorita
Into her dark chamber she will greet you
In the shadows of the maizes she will lead you
Billy, and you're going all alone
They say that Pat Garrett's got your number
So sleep with one eye open, when you wander
Every little sound just might be thunder
Thunder from the barrel of his gun
There's always another stranger sneaking glances
Some trigger-happy fool willing to take chances
Some old whore from San Pedro'll make advances
Advances on your spirit and your soul
The businessmen from Taos want you to go down
So they've hired mister Garrett, he'll force you to slow down
Billy, don't let it make you feel so low down
To be hunted by the man who was your friend
So hang on to your woman, if you got one
Remember in El Paso once you shot one
or up in Santa Fe you bought one
Billy, you've been running for so long
Gypsy queens will play your grand finale
Way down in some Tularosa alley
Maybe in La Rio Pecas valley
Billy, you're so far away from home
Billy, you're so far away from home

True Story
Billy
Algum tolo no gatilho disposto a arriscar
Então eles contrataram o Sr. Garrett, ele vai forçá-lo a diminuir a velocidade
