Was watching a cartoon with the trope of cooking a bunch of fish on sticks by a campfire and thought it would be cool to learn how to do it properly since that's a good skill to have, your video was exactly what I was looking for, thank you
@@weirdweaver149 100% second season of naruto forest of death they did this combine with bear grylls survival guy definitely doing this next time I go fishing
Virtuovice in Japan is worth checking out. He is cooking trout over fire all the time . He is knife people, hunts and fishes and does knife reviews . Fun and entertaining. Enjoyed your video good job 👌👍
The red pepper packets from pizza places is a good carry for edc. A tea made with a pinch of the red pepper is good for nausea. Two of my edc condiments is red pepper and honey. Garlic and olive oil are a couple of others. BTW, how is it that there are comments posted 4 days ago when you posted this video less than an hour ago?
Man Ive been fishing one time this year so far, I went to Lake Roberts in Silver. Caught a few, enough to share with my parents. Glad you made it up to the mountains.
Great little catch and cook bro! You know you can eat the skin. Just run the back end of the blade from tail to head and scale and rinse. Love mine stuffed with chopped red onion and butter. Can't wait to get my Snake eater. It's #12. Atb Sean
Tin foil, little piece of butter in the belly salt pepper wrap it up after you season I use salt, pep, onion, powder, garlic powder. but S and P work just fine alone. After your wrap it up and seal it put it on the coles make sure after about 5 to 6 minutes on each side check it and then add more mins if needed accordingly. You can put and it on a grill rack about 4 to 6 inches above the coles if it's real real hot so you don't burn the fish. It's takes some practice. Also I cut the head off if when I Tin foil cook trout, it eliminates the super fishy taste. Enjoy and let me know!!
That Trekker vid was what brought me to your channel years ago. Good to see you still living by the Green River. Still too early for trout here in Virginia, but I can't wait!
@@JunkyardFox This is a good point James. You should mention your brand in each video where you use it. Self promotion = more possible sales. If you watch Survival Lilly, she mentions her APO-1 every time she pulls it out. Great vid dude!
I've been cooking trout au fire for at least twelve years. My trick is to wait for the fish to give up its water, i.e. to start dripping. If you've been turning it appropriately, it will be perfectly done.
Very nice! Interesting way to cook for sure; I love caught fish but always hate dealing with those tiny bones lol. Love my trekker for sawing those little branches, would have never gotten one if I hadn't found your channel years ago.✊🏽 Just got back from an overnight trip, made some steaks and roasted squash, zucchini, and onions over the coals; got my boots dirty! First overnight in 2021, and it had been too long. Another great video man!
the bones arent too hard to deal with when the fish is fully coooked, the meat just slides right off them. oh that sounds delicious, ill be doing that next week.
LOOKIN GOOD GUYS ! GOOD TUNES ! James which VID had the Thrunite light in it ? I want to get 1 for my B DAY. I looked thru the Playlists but could not find. THANKS . TAKE CARE..
Awesome video. I love trout. I pulled the trigger on a green river knife glad I did. So cold here in western New York can’t wait to go backpacking and camping in the Adirondacks mountains. I’ll be trying out that new knife. Also I’m thinking about the tracker as well.
My daughter and I watched your videos for the first time. Dude, that was slick, how did you get the fish to repair its mangled body and get bigger between shots like that?
@@JunkyardFox I was told at a young age that you have to be smarter than the fish? Lol. It's really all about the bait, try a fly rod in those small streams👍 it's all about good times.
Curious what did you use to catch the fish? Looks like maybe a lead weight up a bit from a hook - worm? I recently fished with my kid, first with a weight and hook, but after a snag, switched to a hook about 9" down from a bobber, with a mosquito fish for bait (caught a bluegill, and got lots of bites - fed them lots of mosquito fish). We catch the mosquito fish with a 9"x6" aquarium net - it is often more entertaining for my kid that fishing with the rod.
This video is awesome! How do you make the cut that pulls the guts and head off with one pull?..anybody who knows what that cut is called I would really appreciate knowing cause it's hard to find good fish gutting videos
When you said quail hunting I heard whale hunting and it short circuited my brain for a minute lol. Yeah sorry about our NM winds brother, I’ve been trying to get out and shoot my slingshot for a week with no luck at 60+ mph wind gusts.
@Junkyard Fox I believe the sap and tar smoke from pine if being directly cooked over, also has some toxicity and can cause people to get sick sometimes if too much comes in contact with the food. I'm pretty sure dry sticks like this are no problem though, especially if not coming in direct contact with the flames.
