thx, this helped a lot. I was using a PokemonGO "mentality" and ended up with Alakazam, Gyarados, and Gengar instead of Scyther, Snorlax, and Starmie (other 3 were the same). My concern was Mega-Evolutions, using my favorites from the mobile game I xferred over, and covering all bases. But your thought process and research into NPC battles was thought provoking and made more sense in the long run. Keep up the good work!
I have spent 2 - 3 hours trying to get Scyther with a catch combo. I some how got a shiny Oddish while I was trying to get Scyther so it was worth the wait, but I CANT GET SCYTHER AT ALL. I have Scyther, but it doesn't have good stats.
going to be honest, i was upset to see my girlfriend got me lets go pikachu instead of eevee (did not say anything to her) but in this pikachu is a freaking powerhouse!!! he dominates as an electric type
My kanto team in red was Charizard, Vileplume, Lapras, Nidoking, Raichu and Mew. And yes i did the Mew glitch, but this time i have the pokeball+ so i can get Mew legit. I plan on using this team in Lets go Pikachu, exept for the Raichu being pikachu this time. What do you guys think about it?
I think I know why everyone thinks let’s go was so easy you get moves like thunderbolt and flamethrower ridiculously early in b2 and w2 growlithe learns flamethrower at level 34!
MysticUmbreon: Pikachu isn't nearly as good as Eevee... Me: Pikachu lost by three f***ing points to Eevee, and the only reason he lost was because of some of the ridiculous move choices for Pikachu.
@@Leynirp Wow, thanks for the helpful reasoning and logic, but Pikachu could have easily won if A) you teach Pikachu brick break instead of iron tail, B) if they'd actually taken into account how good Pikachu is against a lot of the trainers, specifically the abundance of trainers using water and flying type pokemon (also, you may argue that Eevee has buzzy buzz but no one wants to teach Eevee moves before every other fight), and C) they evaluated them both based on if you were to only use that specific pokemon, which no one casually playing through the game would do. But, yeah, you're probably right, Eevee is still better for the simple reason that Pikachu is "overrated". Oh, and also, move pools aren't that important when you can't have eight moves at once, it's better to, I don't know, have four really good moves? Just guessing. Oh, yeah, why are you watching this video if Pikachu is so overrated and Eevee is better?
SolusSylvari plus all elemental punches are gotten much sooner than ice beam. If one is willing to grind growlithe until it gets flare blitz because Arcanine's attack is 5 pts higher you can just give nidoking his physical moves. This isn't FR/LG anymore and Sheer force isn't a thing after all
@@amazingspidermew I dont give Arcanine Flare blitz, I run a Modest or Timid nature and use Flamethrower, or i use a neutral nature and use a mix of physical and special attacks. With the loss of Morning sun flare blitz just isnt worth it imo. Its great on Mega Charizard X though with access to Roost.
@@aBatwoman I meant Thunder Punch, and the whole point of my comment is the fact that the two punch moves are stronger than Ice Beam and Thunderbolt on Nidoking due to his increased attack stat and lower Special attack stat.
@THE OFFICIAL Meloetta Channel No matter the gen i would still recommend getting physical moves on Nidoking. His attack stat is higher and there is a much greater effect to damage by boosting Attack rather than getting Special attack to catch up to it. If Special Attack and Attack were closer like they are on Arcanine then i'd say sure.. boost the Special attack and run a mixed set.
I think that Superpower on Arcanine isn't a move to really use because of one, it lowers Attack and Defense, two, you have to wait til victory road to get the TM since Arcanine can't learn it via level up and three, Arcanine is known for phyiscal attack than special.
My team in lets go pikachu so far: pikachu, kadabra, haunter, gyarados, arcanine and snorlax. I hope too evolve haunter and kadabra soon if i find someone too trade with.
You can get flamethrower TM pretty early as well. As soon as you clear out the game corner and ghost tower, you should have access to the Silph Co building and you can skip to the floor with the card key then go to one of the top floor rooms and unlock the one of the doors to get flamethrower TM. Takes a little work, but is worth it if you want early access to a good fire move 👍🏽
Great video. Just a couple things. First you said to evolve Growlithe at lvl 28 before it learns Play Rough but did not state where else to get it (house on roof of condos accessed from the back). Second you forgot to mention TM40 for Psychic at Mr Psychic's house if a player doesn't have Staryu at lvl 36 yet or if you evolved it right away.
Personally I used alolan Raticate for physic types until I was able to get an alolan grinder/muk which is an amazing counter and good Pokemon overall. I'd say it's a better choice. Glad you mentioned it.
Scyther, like I said about Pinser in the Eevee video, is not a good choice for this game. There are, in total, *only six solo* Psychic types in the game - Alakazam in Blue Gym rematch, Sabrina 1, and Sabrina Rematch (Alakazam dies to a limp slap from any unresisted stab physical attack even when Mega Evolved); Hypno in Sabrina 1 and Rematch (dies to non-stab physical dark moves, which Arcanine already covers), and Mewtwo in post-game (though this is a six-on-one fight, you could beat it by literally sending in one pokemon with Toxic then stalling by feeding your party pokemon to it without attacking back). Beyond this, Scyther can hit dual-types, sure, but these are Executor (you have Arcanine and Snorlax's Fire Punch for that already), Mr. Mime (super fragile, you again have Arcanine and Snorlax for it), Starmie and Slowbro (you have Starmie for that, since it resists both stabs while hitting with non-stab Thunderbolt), and Jynx (dies to a stiff breeze). Defensively, Scyther is a nightmare. It resists Fighting, granted, but that's relevant for exactly Bruno, who packs Onix, Thunderpunch on Hitmonchan, etc. to make that a bad decision. What you're left with is a pokemon that isn't particularly good against any of the elite four (the champion has two decent matchups for Scyther in Slowbro and Marowak, but Starmie is better against them due to its resistances and stab Scald vs Marowak). It resists Bug, the least common attacking type in the game among the hard fights, and Grass, which is relevant for the easiest gym in the game (Erica's) when you already have dedicated Fire on the team. Scyther should be replaced. More controversially, Snorlax should also be replaced. Snorlax should be replaced simply because there's a better option for the same role you can catch earlier in the game in Kangaskhan, which can learn [Crunch/Earthquake/Ice Punch/any physical stab] and, while overall having overall worse stats, is much faster (important in a game were Speed is the most important stat). Then, post-game, it gains a mega that pushes it past Snorlax in non-HP and Special Defense when you don't currently have any mega bait on the team. Scyther's replacement is a bit more tough, but the best idea is probably to replace it with something that can take the load off Starmie. This video doesn't really give it enough weight, but Starmie can solo the Elite Four with the listed moveset and beats every Gym rematch in the post-game besides Lt. Surge and Sabrina (it outspeeds Erica's team with super effective Ice Beam or super effective stab Psychic). Frankly, it could be anything good really to take the pressure off, but the bias should be toward a pokemon that's good vs Lorelei. Unlike partner Eevee (a great support), partner Pikachu is super squishy and unreliable, so that fight in particular is rough if your Starmie gets meme'd. One I happen to like is a +Speed nature Clefable. Poison weakness is rough in gen 1 for obvious reasons, but having [Moonblast/Shadow Ball/Calm Mind/Thunderbolt] is too good of a set to not try making it work. Clefable gets bonus points for helping with Lance, having neutral coverage for mixed-type fights, and for Moonblast doing work in the early game after getting it at level 28 with Clefairy. Stats are bad but passable, and being able to fit universal coverage into three moves while hitting critical types super effective to open space for Calm Mind is a huge boon.
I have some indecisions about the composition of my team created using as a base mystic team and I would like to have your advice since you seem very prepared I was thinking about pikachu, nidoking, arcanine/charizard, snorlax/kangaskhan/machamp, alazakam and as the last pokèmon I just wouldn't know who to use a gyarados for example?
I think fire punch should be replaced by earthquake for snorlax because ice punch and brick break already covers any thing fire is good for (except bug), but earthquake adds even more coverage.
I used the following team: - Pikachu - Venusaur - Arcanine - Polywrath - Scyther - Rhydon A bit on the physical side, but besides that nicely balanced and uses a few of the coolest pokemon from this gen. (Scyther, Rhydon and Polywrath)
Outrage is not that good, you should dragon breath on something like a dragonite, because outrage acts as a sticky web because you cannot change pokemon plus you get confused
So my brother and I got a literal huge story mix up. First, we went to challenge Koga AFTER we finished up team rocket. Then, we traveled to seafoam islands to try and find cinnabar to challenge the gym, not realizing you need to challenge Sabrina first.(we also caught an articuno in the process) so um yeah
This is 4/6 the team I wanted to run anyway, I really wanted Rapadash and my first favorite Pokemon Celfeiry. So with me naming all my pokemon after food in let's go we have Muffin, Jelly, Coffie, Coey, Sushi, and Taffy.
Hey Mystic nice video. But I have a question. I want to use Gengar, he's one of my all time favorites and a staple, can you suggest a moveset and who I should replace on this team for him? Sorry if this was already asked I didn't see it.
every time i whatch lets go my soul shatters because i simply love the graphics and everything about it, the sooner i get a switch (the switch im getting has pikachu pre-installed and comes with pokeball plus) the better
Overused? Yes. Basic? Not at all. There's a reason people use it soo much. Covers most types and powerful as fuck. Also kind of like a throw back to Ash's and Red's team.
Royce Fernandes yeah that what I based it on, what I would think a champion team would be. The three starters, a raichu(but Pikachu is good in this game) a dragonite and a snorlax. Personally I would replace Red’s Lapras with a dragonite, and Pikachu with a raichu.
The Lytz yea you’re right but you rarely ever have an option to use all three starters in a game, for my second run I’m not going to use the starters, or dragonite and snorlax
I boxed my starter Pikachu for a normal Pikachu. My reason is Raichu and I personally dont care for the added range options. Amazing moves, but it sort of creates a disconnect for me when I see Pikachu surfing and killing an onix/rhydon etc.
My team again is currently and the reasons I have them 1. Mewtwo: it’s mewtwo need I say more 2. Mew: I got it with pokeball plus so why not? 3. Venasaur: caught it in veridian forest so why not a starter 4. Eevee: my starter 5. Aerodactyl: I need a Pokémon to fly 6. Articuno; I need a legendary
I know it's basic, but Pikachu is one of my favorites, if not the favorite. Watching Ash bond with his pikachu as a kid really made me wish I had one. I recently got back into the anime and dammit I still want a pikachu.
@@artemiscain9826 Yah it was the aniversary of pokemon so gigantamax pikachu were more common I joined someone's server and they found a shiny and in spite of the odds limiting my chance of catching it I caught it (somehow)

I mean preeeeeeeeeeety sure all the gen 1 pokemon are gonna be in it. Cause the pokemon company has sure milked gen one so much that it would shock me that they arn't in it.
nope so far there was only like around- check serebii.net they see what pokemon was encountered or seen in the overworld. I think there is less than you think
I'm loving your vids so far, but i still have to get the game tho lol. It's been a long time since i played a Pokémon game, there is a lot to catch up.
*The first team I used for let's go Pikachu* Partner Pikachu (Sparky) Charazard (Blaze) Blastouse (Splash) Veanasoure (Sprout) Snorlax (Doze) Hitmonchan (Punch) (I know there are a lot of spelling mistakes for the Pokémon)
Thanks for making this! I started LGP for my first play through. I haven't thought of using Nidoking, Scyther nor Starmie on my main team, instead focusing on all the "classic" Kanto starters, but I do notice not being able to sweep some of the Team Rocket match ups. I'll rework my team once I have all 3 starters evolved. I may even consider importing Alakazam via Go Park. Also there are only 5 Pokemon in this vid. I assume you want to keep Venusaur for the grass coverage since you raved about it in the Eevee Vid. :)
There are technically 7 Pokémon in this vid Pikachu, snorelax, alakazam, starmie, scyther, arcanine, and nidoking He goes over all the move sets of them
So go to viridian city and go East to the place that leads to the leauge. (Route 22) Some grass patches spawn Nidoran Male, that can become Nidorino, then with Moon Stone found on Mt.Moon craters can become Nidoking.
Nidoqueen has more Defence, Sp Defence and HP while Nidoking has more Attack, Sp Attack and Speed. Nidoqueen is a good tank and Nidoking is a good sweeper. And yes Nidoqueen can learn all the TM moves that Nidoking would learn in this team.
My team was my starter Pikachu, Pidgeot, Nidoking, Venusaur, Rapidash and Gyarados, I beat the game with that team and it was so dang fun, now I'm going back to beat the gyms for a second time, but this time I'm getting the shiny versions of every pokemon on my team. So far I have my Pikachu but since it's not the starter I evolved it, I also have my Nidoking, Pidgeot and Venusaur, currently going for Magikarp to get the Gyarados and I'm going for Ponyta last because it's easy to catch and when you hit excellents and quick throws you get a TON of XP which is nice for Gyarados because of it's slow level up. All in all i love this game and I'm using every excuse I can to keep playing, even if I beat the game in only 20 hours 😂
Charizard is way better. WTF are you talking about? You can teach it flamethrower while fighting Team Rocket in Zafron City. Plus, it has two megas. It loses its weakness to electric attacks while in its Mega Charizard X form (BST 634). Not to mention it learns Flare Blitz at level 75.
I saw an article on the best team for let’s go pikachu and it was acting like since they did eevee and did eevee/pikachu they hated pikachu and were evil like wha?
Megas people...go trade, gengar is worth it imo...and idk how beedrill runs in lets go exactly but the mega has to b better than scyther. I could see if their were hold items in this game but there are not...idk
One thing I would like to say is: if I’m being honest I think using the nit best Pokemon isn’t bad it just adds more fun! as it’s actually a challenge SL I don’t think that you should try to make a best team just a team you feel like you’ll enjoy! and I understand this is just a video for the people who find this game hard and I don’t have a problem with that!
So use dazzling gleam instead of thunderbolt for Alakazam. Sorry for the error.

There is a work around for Charizard and Flamethrower: Don't evolve Charmeleon until after it learns Flamethrower.
I just use the flamethrower tm
you dont really have a choice- charmelon evolves by level not stone
thx, this helped a lot.
Use Bottle Caps
I got pinsir and a shiny caterpie no catch combo
method: run away from every pokemon, it worked for me
I got lucky and it just showed up when I wasn't looking for it.
Thanks for doing this with the actual best starter!

Pikachu is the best starter! Eevee is good, but not better than pikachu.
going to be honest, i was upset to see my girlfriend got me lets go pikachu instead of eevee (did not say anything to her) but in this pikachu is a freaking powerhouse!!! he dominates as an electric type

@@kvngvz9106 lmao what was the point of saying that
I think I know why everyone thinks let’s go was so easy you get moves like thunderbolt and flamethrower ridiculously early in b2 and w2 growlithe learns flamethrower at level 34!
U get flamethrower right outside victory road and thunderbolt right before the e4 so I don’t think it’s early in black and white 2
„Get them before they go back to the North Pole!“
*puts it on Christmas list so Santa gets me one*
Thanks so much for the Pikachu edition. Had no idea what team I should do😊
MysticUmbreon: Pikachu isn't nearly as good as Eevee...
Me: Pikachu lost by three f***ing points to Eevee, and the only reason he lost was because of some of the ridiculous move choices for Pikachu.
Why are you mad...eevee is better because eevee has a better move pool and pikachu is so overrated😒

@challiday Unknown u r rong
Why teach Nidoking Icebeam and Thunderbolt. If you aim for a attack boosting nature, you're better off with Thunder and Ice Punch instead.
Thunder is a hit and miss I'd rather use something that can always hit like thunderbolt. Ice beam is stronger than ice punch.
10:46 if acrobatics was in this game, you Will give that move to sycther instead of wing attack
I think that Superpower on Arcanine isn't a move to really use because of one, it lowers Attack and Defense, two, you have to wait til victory road to get the TM since Arcanine can't learn it via level up and three, Arcanine is known for phyiscal attack than special.
No joke. I'm getting Let's Go Pikachu for Christmas and was brainstorming a team. These exact 6 pokemon came to mind, I just had worse movesets.
Wow that’s cool-
My team in lets go pikachu so far: pikachu, kadabra, haunter, gyarados, arcanine and snorlax. I hope too evolve haunter and kadabra soon if i find someone too trade with.
Arcanine looks like it can cover its eyes with its ears
You can get flamethrower TM pretty early as well. As soon as you clear out the game corner and ghost tower, you should have access to the Silph Co building and you can skip to the floor with the card key then go to one of the top floor rooms and unlock the one of the doors to get flamethrower TM. Takes a little work, but is worth it if you want early access to a good fire move 👍🏽
Great video. Just a couple things. First you said to evolve Growlithe at lvl 28 before it learns Play Rough but did not state where else to get it (house on roof of condos accessed from the back). Second you forgot to mention TM40 for Psychic at Mr Psychic's house if a player doesn't have Staryu at lvl 36 yet or if you evolved it right away.
it would've been cooler if they made it so that Pikachu has the same BST as Raichu just in this game
12:23 Alakazam can’t learn thunderbolt so u use dazzling gleam for extra coverage
I think it was a mistake and he meant Dazzling Gleam.
Personally I used alolan Raticate for physic types until I was able to get an alolan grinder/muk which is an amazing counter and good Pokemon overall. I'd say it's a better choice. Glad you mentioned it.
alolan grinder lmao wonder how that works??!
@@hanumeshhanu5051 😳
The problem is you dont get ice beam until at least 7th gym so half of what you said nidoking would be strong for doesnt really apply

Exactly. The Vile Pile is a must-have
Where's the vile pile
Also, where's mudkip
Andrew Trimble Mudkip isn’t even in the fucking game
I know, that's the whole point of the joke

I used just a Snorlax.
I use him for every game. Crushes everything
I used the following team:
- Pikachu
- Venusaur
- Arcanine
- Polywrath
- Scyther
- Rhydon
A bit on the physical side, but besides that nicely balanced and uses a few of the coolest pokemon from this gen. (Scyther, Rhydon and Polywrath)
Cool team! My first team was
-Cloyster
-Exeggutor
-Pikachu
-Arcanine
-Electabuzz
aaaand
-Snorlax
Moves for Arcanine:
Flamethrower/Flare blitz
Outrage
Crunch
Play Rough
Outrage is not that good, you should dragon breath on something like a dragonite, because outrage acts as a sticky web because you cannot change pokemon plus you get confused
If anyone didn’t know this you can find psychic in a house by the poke center and saffron city
Tip: wait until nidoking is level 25 before evolving it because it learns toxic early and poison jab.
U mean Nidorino or Nidoran Nidoking is the last evolution
Nidorino duh
@Dyno Games you get the point though no need to nitpick
So my brother and I got a literal huge story mix up. First, we went to challenge Koga AFTER we finished up team rocket. Then, we traveled to seafoam islands to try and find cinnabar to challenge the gym, not realizing you need to challenge Sabrina first.(we also caught an articuno in the process) so um yeah
My team:
Pikachu
Venasaur
Charizard
Blastoise
Kadabra (have not been able to trade yet)
Pidgeot (for most of playthrough. Now it’s up for grabs)
This is 4/6 the team I wanted to run anyway, I really wanted Rapadash and my first favorite Pokemon Celfeiry. So with me naming all my pokemon after food in let's go we have Muffin, Jelly, Coffie, Coey, Sushi, and Taffy.
I only used Pikachu like I literally never had to use my other Pokémon
Ditto that, except I had Eevee and just changed her (mine was a female) Move Tutor moves every time I had a big battle coming up.
I’ve been saving up for a Nintendo Switch for 2 years And today I got it so I am watching this video so now I can make the best team
Hey Mystic nice video. But I have a question. I want to use Gengar, he's one of my all time favorites and a staple, can you suggest a moveset and who I should replace on this team for him? Sorry if this was already asked I didn't see it.
Shadow Ball for stab
Focus Blast for coverage
Dark Pulse for coverage
Dazzling Gleam because Gengar is a fabulous Pokémon

I'm sorry but that's the most basic and overused team for Kanto, I love them all, but i see this team layout way too much.
Overused? Yes. Basic? Not at all. There's a reason people use it soo much. Covers most types and powerful as fuck. Also kind of like a throw back to Ash's and Red's team.
Although I would replace Dragonite with Pidgeot for a complete nostalgic feel.
Partner also has max IVs and boosted stats.
About 5:00, you mentioned that Nidoking is good for defeating Trace except for Marowak. But know that Ground is weak to Ice.
My team again is currently and the reasons I have them
1. Mewtwo: it’s mewtwo need I say more
2. Mew: I got it with pokeball plus so why not?
3. Venasaur: caught it in veridian forest so why not a starter
4. Eevee: my starter
5. Aerodactyl: I need a Pokémon to fly
6. Articuno; I need a legendary
"I need a legendary", you already bnb have mew and mewtwo
And you wouldn’t need mew and mewtwo on the same team at the same time lol bad team because of types you have lots of the same types

Going for a Red team?
Thanks for making this! I started LGP for my first play through. I haven't thought of using Nidoking, Scyther nor Starmie on my main team, instead focusing on all the "classic" Kanto starters, but I do notice not being able to sweep some of the Team Rocket match ups. I'll rework my team once I have all 3 starters evolved. I may even consider importing Alakazam via Go Park. Also there are only 5 Pokemon in this vid. I assume you want to keep Venusaur for the grass coverage since you raved about it in the Eevee Vid. :)
There are technically 7 Pokémon in this vid
Pikachu, snorelax, alakazam, starmie, scyther, arcanine, and nidoking
He goes over all the move sets of them
4:04 where to find nidoking
So go to viridian city and go East to the place that leads to the leauge. (Route 22)
Some grass patches spawn Nidoran Male, that can become Nidorino, then with Moon Stone found on Mt.Moon craters can become Nidoking.
thanks for this it was very helpful, I just swapped nidoking for nidoqueen bc I prefer nidoqueen and I'm pretty sure it has the same tm moves so yea
I got an adamant Pikachu with zippy zap and he's made short work of everything so far.
Watching this in my let's go trick or treating gear 😀👍
