Many a super stack shoe has launched over the last year! Today i measure up the SKYWARD X against some of the other max stack racers available right now.
Saucony and ASICS running have sent me the shoes in todays video but they are not vetting my views before my valued viewers get to see them. The other shoes i have purchased with my own cash.
I examine the best of the upper, midsole and outsole features of these race and training ready models.

I've done about 60km in the Kinvara Pro so far and it's been fantastic for me. It's arguably the smoothest transitioning (heel to toe) shoe I've ever run in. I've used it solely for easy runs and it just rolls along beautifully. The level of cushioning it provides just works for me. I find them much more forgiving than the Triumph 21s. My knees and ankles have felt great. The only issue I have had is laces losing tension on my left foot, which has hopefully been solved by some non-stretchy $2 laces from Kmart as they solved the same issue I was having with the Speed 4s. Those $2 Kmart laces combined with my easy Kinvara Pro runs enabled me to do my first sub 39 minute 10km run in the Speed 4s earlier today.
The above is of course just my subjective experience and as such, is the correct experience.
I am off to check out the new Fallout 4 update.

I want a pair of these HOKA’s next to my Superblasts, for the ultra comfy low HR long runs. Will take the weight of my Superblasts too.
Just wish they were a tad lighter is all.

Im a Prime X v1-fanboy. Tried/ run the Skyward in the shop. It was too much. Felt like a winter-boot. With that price? No way!

I have a hard time grabbing anything but my Superblast for any type run other than races and track work. Maybe I'm regressing back 50 years to my youth of just having two pairs of shoes; "trainers" and "racers". The Superblast sure takes the place of a lot of shoes.

Interesting views Ed I've got some good miles in the superblast (540) and over 100 in prime x v2 and its funny you pick the superblast over the Hoka but not the Prime x. The prime x v2 is king of the marathon pace long runs for me. Superblast is comfortable but doesn't really give you any speed over the long run for me. I've ran the same routes multiple times in both as well.
The primex 2 just wasn’t as fun and too heavy for me in the larger sizes
Thanks Ed, great comparison and great music choice - I've been loving the soundtrack to the Fallout TV series. All that good ol' Americana. As you say, the series itself is fun, too.
(Btw, I've not heard anyone complain that London was hot this year. A chilly day in one of the coldest and wettest April's on record).
I think it’s more the humidity. It’s way different over here in the uk than other places. I found Boston around this time of year way easier to run in. Very different air!

It’s interesting, the only people I know that have been real fans of the Kinvara Pro have been bigger runners, I wonder if it’s a different experience with more weight over them. Certainly doesn’t seem like a “Kinvara” though, they really should have given it its own name.
Kinvara Pro felt clunky/heavy/rigid, so it didn't stay with me for very long. The Prime X Strung was great going at faster pace, but too unstable for me at slower/easy pace. A shame as it felt so soft and bouncy. I need to try the Cielo X1 and/or the Skyward X. Great Vid as always Edd. I'm finally following you on Strava!
The cielo is a good prime X like without the extra stack.
I love my Kinvara pro, very misunderstood shoe. Pwrrun softens up a lot compared to other foams and at easy paces with that rocker it just keeps rolling you forward so efficiently forever. Lack of outsole is a pain though, so many tiny stones buried deep into the midsole foam 😢

Got to admit whilst I love the Prime X 1, the Superblast is better in that, although stacked, is far far more stable. Both offer comfort for the elder runner, the Superblast is far lighter without any of the rods/plates that shoes need these days (apparently)!
Yes it’s an interesting shoe. The SB take a little time to figure out. But works for anything you throw at it.
I will go against the grain and say these are the SuperBlast killer in my opinion. I love the SB. Over the past year I have over 900 miles on multiple pairs of them. I absolutely love this shoe though. So comfortable right out of the box. The foam is an excellent blend of soft and bouncy. The rocker and plate really propel you along. I personally dont notice the weight as much due to those. The PSX2 felt 100 times more heavier than the skyward. The upper, laces, and stability are light years better than the SB for me. Love the videos Ed. Keep up the great content!
I agree, the balance between midsole and upper is better in the skyward
How did the Skyward X fit compared to the Superblast? I’m a size 9 in Sauconys, but the Superblast 9 felt huge and the 8.5 felt a tad short.
@@deetee2730 I’m a 12 in the superblasts and they fit just ever so slightly small. 12.5 was way to big. I went with 12.5 in the Skyward and they are absolutely perfect. I would say go for the 9.

I just don't understand why the Prime X 2 was released, it's a bit like Lemmings 2, an unnecessary update on the GOAT.
Yes! Good comparison there. Just could have done more of the same but changed the tried and tested formula.
@@EDDBUD I would point out that Lemmings 2 was better than the Prime X 2! Perhaps Jaws 2 is the better comparison.
This is an excellent, excellent comparison video. I am 1000% with you on the PXS V2. It is just way too heavy for me on long runs, and even a 5k run in it make my hips feel sore. As someone who has multiple pairs of PXS V1, the wave rebellion pro 2 and the Hoka Cielo X1 come the closest. PXS V1 is still the GOAT on long runs (15 miles+) for me.

Everything has to work together. 100% underrated observation.
Lots of tech is great but without a blend of it the shoes are often clunky and rigid.
I really prefer the Prime X 1 than the 2, although the second iteration has lots of technology.

Got a pair of the prime x strung v2 and put my first 10 miles on them. Really enjoy the feel and cushion. The upper seemed fine to me but i did get some rub on Achilles causing a blister today. The Hoka seems like something i would really enjoy, as i like plated shoes. Heck i even like my zoom fly 5s. Definitely going to look to try the Hoka. Weight has never bothered me as the farthest i currently go is a 10k. If i do want light and fast i have the AF3 and VF3. I just like to save those and keep miles off them for when im feeling really good and going for pb's
The primex strung v1 was an absolute legend shoe.

Totally off topic but I recently bought the Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed and low and behold, Adidas are now using serrated laces! Thank goodness. Now they just need to introduce them into their road running shoes. One of my peeves regarding Adidas is their poor laces. Reminds me of the ones that came with the Asics Novablast original. It's such a small change but makes a huge difference to the overall experience.

Yesterday there was a huge update for Fallout 4, it does support ultrawide resolutions now. I started playing it again, I had over 680 hours of playtime in it say my steam statistics.

jus got mine today will test in my early morning run tomorrow, feels ok so far, looks like I can run my zone 2 with these while suffering from it band.
It’s certainly that zone 2 type shoe for me. Long runs and protective against the impact
@@EDDBUD it's amazing, ran in the morning and still felt good for a run in the afternoon which I did. glad to have pull the trigger on this shoe, considering another pair hopefully a wide size comes near me.

Prime x v1 strung I prefer over my superblast all day long.
Just picked up another pair of v1 strung £139, I use them for everything.
Superblast and Strung V1 in my rotation, and love them both. Have to be honest, the Skyward X kinda looks like it might best suit me for the easy/recovery runs. I never got on well with the Invincibles... these might fit that spot.
Many found the invincible too soft. The skyward has some more structure to it
I should’ve never bought my Superblast. I can’t justify getting another super trainer now.

One week running in Kinvara Pro and today after long run with some strides, I've run to Running Warehouse to pick up second pair !! Last pair in my size on discount 😅
Absolutely love Kinvara Pro - didn't want to pick it up as so many negative reviews - but problem is most reviews are done by light runners, or to put it runners of runner like weight, where this shoe is perfect for us bigger ones - im about 90kg and this put enough force into shoe to make it work perfectly - mind ive just got second pair just in case saucony wont continue it, which is very likely lol and I do not double up on running shoes very often - last time it was prime x original (celarmesh upper)
Transition in Kinvara - oh boy its soooo smoth cant get enoughof it, enough firmnes / softness to be protective and bouncy but not bottom out as speed 3 with same foam for example, shoe is well balanced and weight do not bother me as it do not feel heavy once running
Also i think lack of rubber outsole add to the ride - in positive way, no issue with traction so far but downside is it might wear out faster, well to be seen...
Also the looks are pretty nice as for saucony shoes, not all colourways though, that white one you have not so much but Infrared or blue - love it
So if any of you are bigger runner then do yourself a favour and pick up pair on discount !!!

For cushion the invincible is worth a go. If money isn’t too tight try the Superblast

What do you think is the most protective daily trainer?
I hear the New Balance 1080v13 is really nice. New Balance is better for us wide footers and I have high arches.
For that the magnify nitro 2 or perhaps the 1080 as suggested above.

Glideride did it all. Easy, Speedwork and Marathons. Too much value for money and looked boring, i can see why it was discontinued.
Very odd they removed that one. Though the blaster is a real banger
