Dang, the original concept trailer is a lot more sinister. Also found it interesting how it looks like Robyn originally came on hunts with her father - maybe how she got bitten in the original concept art, instead of sneaking out and getting into trouble with the snare? Either way, very cool to look at the evolution from 2017 to 2020.
Very cool indeed. They made it more kid friendly, and even though I'm all for dark endings, making the father into a good natured character was a good call. And also removing the mini arc of Robin showing around Mebh around town.

Truly worthy of the title of the 'Irish Studio Ghibli', however seeing these trailers, I do not believe it does justice anymore. I came across this film purely by chance while scrawling through upcoming animation titles, and I am astounded by the beauty. It is truly inspiring. As an aspiring animator, I sometimes get discouraged by the narrowing channel of art in most popular media. While the stories are branching out in fascinating ways, as an artist, I think the visual element of storytelling is a key aspect that is developing the wrong way in a lot of cases. Nowadays, many film companies and even game companies are producing sub-par stories with modern graphics that children like mostly because it 'looks good', not for any actual story purpose. Older films relied more on their stories to entertain and sell because the 'look' couldn't always be a selling point. Not always the case, but a trend I've noticed. I'm so pleased about this next generation of stories, coming from imaginative places. And I'm even more impressed when films go the extra mile to push the boundaries of the art in their stories. A prime example I would say is Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, which is the most fantastic 'comic-book movie' I have ever seen. These films, traversing 2D animation and bringing in folk art and woodblock aesthetics are just brilliant, harkening back not only to their storytelling roots but managing to express the emotion and imagination of their inspirations in a way that makes its roots inseparable from the modern story. I'm just rambling now, but it is truly a wonder to see. I'm so excited to hopefully be a part of this new era of animated films, which are returning to beautiful artistic conventions but with a new, imaginative twist, and moving away from the CalARTs and Disney styles which dominate the markets currently. I’m so glad Wolfwalker’s was made by an Irish studio so that Ireland as a whole was portrayed correctly. If Wolfwalkers was made by Disney ; it would be way worse since if they tried the Irish stuff they probably couldn’t accomplish it. Also , the 2D animation is now a No Go for Disney , thirdly , there would be musical numbers. In a film meant to be peaceful yet powerful a musical number or song in between moment would really ruin the movie. Thank you , Cartoon saloon. I can’t wait to see more from you.
tbh disney is literally like “2d animation is hard” its literally a excuse for being so lazy to not find any methods or anything to use anything or something that’s similar to this and 2d animations but either way, wolfwalkers can beat wish any day

They are going to do the 2 part and the third, watching Wolfwalker and watching the trailer from 3 years ago, incredible Cartoon Salon of Ireland, never before had I been moved and even cried by such a realistic movie in classic animation sketches with a spectacular soundtrack .. the voices of actors the masterful
I like the art style of the wolves in this one
No idea why it was recommended to me now, but I love it
Woooow the actual movie is much different now!!!
Yes! A beautifully animated movie about a wolf! After all these years!!!!!!! Thank you!!!
Just saw this amazing movie tonight. It's amazing to see this concept trailer, and see what they left out or kept in the actual movie.
Hands down one of my favorite animated movies I've seen in the past few years! Can't wait to own it!
I AM SO EXCITED. HIS MOVIES ARE SO SPECIAL.
I can’t wait to see more from you.
tbh disney is literally like “2d animation is hard” its literally a excuse for being so lazy to not find any methods or anything to use anything or something that’s similar to this and 2d animations but either way, wolfwalkers can beat wish any day
@@shirleyyap3208for real. If they want money so bad , make an actually good movie!
I’m so glad I got to see the movie here in the U.S.! I really wish cartoon saloon gets the attention they deserve
It's out now and I have become obsessed with it. You guys did a great job!
And three years later its finally coming to theaters finally!!! December 11th people see you there!!
Not in theatres, on Apple TV.
Even at the conceptual stage you guys were prepping greatness! Shame on Disney and Ghibli for abandoning hand-drawn animation.
this is SUCH a amazing movie. just finished watching it. cant wait for your next endeavours!!
but you saw what version
Did anyone else just get this recommended out of no where 3 years after it was relevant
I did and now they're gonna get a movie ;-;
Cartoon Saloon can never fail.
Personally, I prefer the style of the wolves in the trailer to how they did the wolves in the movie. Here, they look wild and magical, while I found the wolf pack more cartoonish in the movie.
what do you mean?
This is extraordinary animation. Something worth looking forward to.
Holy moly, seing this compared to the finished film, the movie got quite the budget boost
just watched the final film... 3 years really paid off didn’t it
Yeah...I can't believe they waited three whole years to actually release this
I‘m so not used to 2D animation that I thought it’s a game trailer. How refreshing though.
Incredible to look back at this. Just seen the film in cinema today. Amazing craft and skill by everyone in Cartoon Saloon. Film of the year for me
Tomm moore at it again with producing/co-producing amazing movies, he also produced/co-produced the secret of kells and song of the sea, two of my favorite movies
It’s right around the corner! I hope they make sure that people are aware of their masterpiece, I’d be a shame for such gorgeous creation to go unnoticed...more advertising!
Agree
The movie changed so much wow
I just came from the actual trailer and let me just say I’m so excited I absolutely love and miss this rough hand drawn style
I seriously would love to watch this
This looks so BEAUTIFUL how have I not heard of your movies before :O
Wolves are VERY important for enviorment to
Remember how they saved the Yellowstone
It took three years??? Unbelievable. The amount of effort!! But it's certainly paid off, this looks beautiful
One day in the future, I will definitely bring my fairy tale works to you, because I really love your style of painting, and my works need this way of expression. (A girl from China.)
I hate it that it didn’t win the academy award
They never picked the good movies.
This movie took 7 years to make....but it’s worth the wait
Can't Believe that HBO bought this animation after 3 years
Keep it up!
HBO? Is HBO related to Apple? 'Cause this will be released on Apple+
this movie was great! i loved the
story line too!
This is AMAZING! Looking forward to it ;)
Totally worth the wait
The improvement in graphics and animation after these three years is absolutely spectacular!
I wish Disney can follow this kind of animation
