    This is awesome! I was on Carnival a year ago and thought I was all prepared with my HDMI cable and also a separate universal remote. But it would NOT let me change the source no matter what I did!
    My next cruise is RC next spring on Explorer of the Seas and I'll definitely be giving this a try!

    Try this, If you quickly click the on-off button under the tv, this will bring up the source menu at the btm, Then click it again to scroll across to which ever hdmi you want. Then press and hold button to select. This method I use on quantum of the seas. No need to unplug and plug-in power

    thx different control in my room with less buttons. That power button will work as a function button all set you gave me a start.

      Yes…will be different depending on the system the ship has installed. Glad it helped get you going.

    Can you please tell me what specific lightning to HDMI converter you have? All the ones I’m finding say they do not stream Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu.

      @@juliasquyres161 Hi. I used this one in the video.

      Note: This is an Amazon associates link. If you purchase via the link it provides the channel a small commission, but costs you nothing.
      I do need to get a new one as I’ve upgraded my iPad and it’s uses USB-C, not Lightning.

    thank you, I'm going to try and figure this out. Hubby has terminal disease and requires a lot of rest time, so I do hang out in the cabin a bit with him sometimes. I get bored cuz the TV sux. I'll take my ipad, I know what hdmi cord is but not sure of what that white hdmi connector is.. off to search... Leaving for Uptopia soon so want to try and accomplish this. Thanks a bunch

      On Utopia they should have the newer capabilities that Odyssey, Wonder and Icon have. You do not need to hook up directly to the TV. You can cast your device to the TV. I’ll try to do a video on this when on Icon next week.

      @@CruisesRoomsReviews thanks, we leave on the Utopia for a B2B Monday Aug 12th, so we'll be gone, but thanks anyway. Going to watch your video again and figure out and hopefully we can get it to work, if not, not a big deal. :) thanks again

    On the older ships (ruby for me) it works only through live tv and the football channel But it’s not working if football is on. I’ve been playing my Nintendo and it’s not working now. We have the opposite problem. I want HDMI not football. Doesn’t work for me with the bridge channel.

      @@KrystleChapman-pw6kn Hi. Royals wifi doesn’t restrict it. I use a VPN on my iPad if I’m having location issues with a streaming service.

    Great stuff! So you can’t bring an extension cord like with a fire stick?

    • @CruisesRoomsReviews
      @CruisesRoomsReviews  5 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not very familiar with the FireStick - but I thought those plug right in without an extension cord. Either way - you can bring an HDMI cable onboard - just not a power extension cord.

    The streaming of movies is not available on ships pre-oasis class.

    • @CruisesRoomsReviews
      @CruisesRoomsReviews  4 месяца назад

      @@SigmaRho2922 Depends what you mean. If you want native streaming (casting), you can only do it on Odyssey, Icon, Wonder & Utopia. Any other ship you need to connect a device to an HDMI port on your room TV, if you can change the input. I’ve streamed this way on Grandeur, the oldest ship in the fleet.

    Which cable do I need to

    • @CruisesRoomsReviews
      @CruisesRoomsReviews  9 месяцев назад

      Really depends what device you are hooking up. First thing you need is a standard HDMI cable. I was using an iPad, so I used a Lightning to HDMI converter that Apple makes. Other devices may have a USB-C port. A laptop may have an HDMI port….so no converter necessary.
