Lovely piece. It would fantastic if pianists would play some of these forgotten romantic concerti in competition so we don’t have to hear Rach Brahms Beeth Prok over and over and over again. This isn’t a masterpiece but it’s lovely and fun and challenging and competitions are the perfect place to hear it.

I was only familiar with Hiller as a dedicatee of an opus of Chopin's nocturnes, not as a composer in his own right. That's actually how I discovered Catoire too, via Medtner. Thanks for this.

I believe Schumann dedicated his Piano Concerto to Hiller as well. I even think it’s documented that Hiller was the Conductor at the premiere while Schumann performed at the Piano!
