Thankful somebody spoke up and took action.. Millions of people all across the nation are at the mercy of their landlords like this.

There is not enough affordable decent housing in Houston for low to mid level income families. Then slumlords take advantage of them like this. Glad there was a call to action for these families. It should happen more often.
There's not enough of anything that won't provide a decent profit.
Now that they fixed most of everything.. they will soon raise rent.. this is how they work..
They can only do so according to the market value of apartments in that area and look like the property value is in hell so I doubt if it get raised anymore than $50 and if they’re on housing which I highly suspect, they won’t feel it.
You mean like workers that demand higher wages?
Your costs go up, you get less profit.
Less profit leads to fewer rental units, then the whining gets really loud.

It takes more than just the landlord.. the tenants have a responsibly too. Sometimes it's not the tenants fault but sometimes they're partly responsible as well...
People will walk 4000 miles just for a chance at a better life but these folks won't take a bus

As a member of the mature adult working class(and head of a family), I understand that if something cheap/non functioning is hurting me and mine, I must work harder to afford something less harmful. Kinda like migrants walking thousands of miles for a better life. Fortunately I can just take a bus if need be.

They need to knock them apartments down. My Mom and Family Use to live in them Apartments back in the early 80's
Now, after all of that, keep air flowing through, to stop that mold. Heat in winter. Fans in bathroom when showering. Fans in kitchen when cooking. A lot, not all, has to do with the tenants. Take more care of your surroundings. It is your home.

I called the city. They will give you the name of the state representative for your area. Then call 211 code enforcement.

That damn place looked like a very toxic environment to have to pay to live in!! Mold, roaches, mice holes in ceilings and walls, trash, disgusting!! No way are those apt's healthy for those children!!

Go back next year and see if those residents are still happy. Bet the rent goes up and they all move out.

Such a wonderful story , only marred by the clear backpacks all children aged 4 and up must now have to take to school , where all doors and windows must be kept closed and locked at all times , where they pass through metal detectors as they enter , where armed guards patrol the halls and class rooms , where children practice active school shooter drills so much that by 10 yrs old they can cower in a classroom traumatized for life watching their teacher and friends get shot and bleed out and die all around them , smear their dead friend's blood all over themself so they can play dead then pick up their dead teachers cell phone and call 911 begging and crying for help and when told they must tell the other children to be quiet , respond with , "I know what to do , my Dad taught me when I was a little girl , but please hurry , I dont want to die " , all because they live in the US where worshipping guns is far more important than countless children getting shot and or killed every day is school shootings , mass shootings, drive by shootings , road rage shootings , some stupid adult left their loaded gun lying around all over the place shootings , shot in a class room , shot at a mall , shot at the movies , shot lying in their own bed , shot at the park , shot in the drive thru for fast food and not doing a damn thing to even try to stop it from happening so much . The Us doesnt have a gun problem at all . SMFH
