Rachel Brosnahan nailed the role. I became a big fan of hers after seeing this show. And Amy Sherman-Palladino's script is really great too. I am so sad that this show is ending after season 5.
It's a blessing in disguise. Let the show be a tight package that ends well. Don't let them keep sucking money out of it till it's pointless and dry. If you miss the characters, watch it again.
Well there is something about the snappy wit and humor of a smart, Jewish, New York woman. I married one in Texas of all places. She ended up there with her shmendrik first husband. She shed him like an old schmatta in due time. We fell head over heels for each other; she laughed that she finally got her cowboy. We had a great marriage until she died from kidney disease. We'll meet again. I miss and love you my darling Susan🌷
I loved this SHOW !!!! Totally get how she leaves her makeup on until her husband goes to sleep them puts loads of cold cream on to sleep motionless besides him and then wakes up before he does and cleans up like she is going out ~ and he wakes to see this beautiful force of nature before him singularly resolved for his pleasure ~ and he goes to work and cheats on her with someone who cannot tell the difference between a pen and a pencil… 🥰sweetie I understand

You know, I would’ve never found out about this show if this video hadn’t appeared in my recs one evening. I found the jokes funny and wanted to see what it was about- and I never regretted it.

The actress, Rachel Brosnahan, is really talented. Have you seen her in interviews? She seems very calm and introspective but plays this super confident, almost brash character so well, but also let's some of Midge's insecurities shine through.

Think about this: A show with a whole team of writers taking weeks to tune these jokes and witty comebacks, then directing a crowd of actors to laugh. And it's still not as good as any random comic off the street.
It shows they have no sense of what being a real veteran is like. None of them would laugh at the stupid remarks she made about magazines. She should and could have used sexual jokes not to insult men but to show that she knew how to give them blueballs and still be desirable. Frankly the jokes made her less likeable as a comedian character
The comedy in 50s was different than what it is today. A comedy routine is a function of its own time. That's why the writers wrote jokes that would fit historically instead if hiring a random comic off the streets
Apparently if they just slip in "fellas" it's period. Nothing about this show from anything she says, her lack of dialect, the shows understanding of 1958-1960, the people, and especially the clothing. Feels remotely accurate. Women are funny, rather women back then were funny, witty, shrewd people who upheld their poise and respect and maturity. This swearing ball of moping female is not 1% those women. And all the outfits are unflattering from the early 1950s bathing robe with the awkward cat eye glasses worn on a lady who could never make it work, to the first outfit she wears. This is Manhattan, and Manhattan fashion was above and beyond. This doesn't feel like New York City either. Everything about this show is pure modern recreation and absolutely a nightmare to watch when I study the 1950s-1900s extensively. I've been in the 1910s for 2 months now and I could probably pick apart Downton Abbey, but I won't because the few outfits that are off, are accompanied by realistic characters who are likable, mature, and feel like human beings not ridiculous caricatures of 1950s ideals being washed down the drain by little miss feminism.
Mrs. Maisel is to Prime Video what House of Cards was back when Netflix first started making shows. Both great shows with a terrific cast, great scripts, and great cinematography. Luckily, Mrs. Maisel hasn't been packed of scandal like House of Cards was, and they didn't have to go crazy with their stories due to real life events either

I started watching this program and was intrigued. I saw this and see she is just foul mouthed and not funny. Thanks for posting so I don’t have to watch the series and be disappointed.
