I think xianyun to xiao somewhat has similarity with shenhe to ayaka. Shenhe quills will runs out quickly in AoE, but ayaka didn't struggle in AoE. What shenhe do is to cover ayaka disadvantage in single target.
Xiao is already good in AoE but has disadvantage in single target. Xianyun is here to fix that. And just like shenhe i think xianyun will always be his overall best team.
Xiao never had a disadvantage in st lmao. Oddly enough, she actually lowkey solves a couple of Xiao’s aoe and multi wave issues (not because of her buffs) but by no longer restricting him to circle impact. Never rlly was the biggest problem Xiao had, but it is something. If anything, she’ll make Xiao more of a st monster than he alr is. If your interested in why I think Xiao is a st dps I can elaborate.
Xiao has collision mechanic where he deals a literal 1.4x (like literal 40% more dps not 40% more dmg/atk buff) of what he can do in AoE just by pressing forward + know where to plunge. This works and is consistent for most elites/boss.
But ig since our community has mechanical skill of a concussed cerebral palsy toddler so maybe it doesnt count.
Collision damage is very depend on enemy hit box, enemy movement, and higher skill knowledge + it's more uncomfortable without a shield. Those are still "disadvantages" of him over another teams and could be the reason some people not playing him.
Imo xianyun will make xiao more worth it in this situation despite of those disadvantages. Same with shenhe to ayaka.
@@freddyman5726 nah, getting collision plunge on bosses (which is probably the only situation where st matters) is relatively easy. I don’t think there is a single boss that Xiao cannot consistently collision except maybe like pma, but that boss’ hit box is just cringe in general. And even then I’m pretty sure I’ve seen ppl speedrun that boss with Xiao

If you think that st boss that only matter then i argue that annoying st boss that only matter because you can play anyone for regular st boss. Also if you talked about speedrun you must compare it to another speedrun teams.
Look i'm not saying he's bad at st, in fact he's very great. But to say that he's perfect and has not disadvantage at all over other teams is very ingenuine. I'm here just praising xianyun cuz she will make xiao more preferred in st, not downplay him or whatsoever.

I don't think this may come out the way you think it might. It could end up just being Base ATK damage an not mixed with elemental DMG. This may only work with certain characters who have particles.

Xianyun is a plunge playstyle enabler, buffer and healer, who can hold both ttds and VV and even the new healimg set if VV isn't needed due to her healing being more over time and not frontloaded. I think if she had grouping on top of that it would be too much imo. I'm happy that mihoyo chose the route of enabling new playstyles rather than powercreep.
Btw I think you'd have enough material for a 2nd zajef court with all the rather questionable takes he's had recently.

Changing her heal to be less Frontloaded and more *Sustained over time* can be a move to encourage players to get the new Healing Artifact set.
From someone else's video on that set, it was "discovered" that the Bonus Dmg it provides can be triggered continuously, even when the holder is off-field.
Instead of having "One Buff every 10s", It starts "counting heals" when healing is present, and provides a buff to the party once 6s of healing have gone by.
If your healing is a more sustained form of healing like Xianyun, Cookie, Dori, etc (Healing that lasts over time), the buff from the artifact set can keep getting "refreshed" in a sense.
Basically the set seems to work a lot better with Sustained Healers compared to Frontloaded Healers.
This set would work a lot better on Xianyun compared to Jean for example.
(ofc depending on the team, you may still prefer giving Xianyun the VV set as it is such an amazing support set, but if your team has no use for VV, maybe the healing set can be a nice option.)
Aka for xiao or even dendro dps like alhaitham.
It also makes sense since Xiao has a long on-field time, that way the heals don't run out while he's in his ult, especially important since he's losing health the whole time
It sucks a bit losing the grouping, cause I was planning on bringing her as a Sucrose replacement to Furina Klee teams, but I can still make Pogo spark Cyno teams I guess

This 6:52. I plan a Rev Melt Chongyun team with C5 Bennett, C2 Kazuha, and Xianyun. Not accounting for Xianyun's A1, Chongyun will be doing ~80k average each plunge here in *consolidated AOE*, And that one special mob will be dealt ~140k average.
Enabling plunge alone, made Chongyun's AOE much larger, so Xianyun should not purely be considered a "single target buffer" all things considered.

I had the same playing almost since this game was released, then I lost 3 times for Jean quite recently (first was less than half a year ago).
Problem is that plunge teams are only stronger on a very few characters, mainly claymores.

For people who likes to explore, She is someone to consider having in your party.
From what footage I have found, Her E Skill gives her a burst of movement horizontal and vertical movement which will allow you to get to places faster or allow you to get over gaps. This movement is contrary to Yelan's long flat terrain movement and the Wanderer's vertical movement x getting to hard to reach places.
Getting Xianyun would be a great well rounder, allowing you to have several options always ready for wherever you need to go in the map.
It looks like the new best Exploration team is now (DPS,Yelan, Wanderer, Xianyun) If only we'll get one who can deal giga damage with little setup too though...

No. Just stop coping lol. She is such garbage dude it isn't even funny. Shenhe works with ALL cryo characters AND can work with phys if you really coped hard. That's Chongun (and anyone you pair him with to infuse with Cryo), Ayaka, Wrio, Rosaria, Freminet, Ganyu, Kaeya. Hell, I think that you could even make like Layla and Charlotte into dps with Shenhe lol. You see where I'm going with this? Shenhe buffs SKILLS and ULTS and NORMALS and CHARGED and PLUNGE. Mid Retainer just enables plunge, which most characters DO NOT WANT to use. Yae Miko could make use of it for aggravate. Some cope that Nahida would use it but Dendro doesn't spread, so doesn't get much benefit as Yae would because no resist shred other than Deepwood and Zhongli, so you could technically do it I guess? But that means on field Nahida and not a character like Al Haitham. She's cope. She's JUUUUUUST above Dehya tier. She's not irredeemable, but she's PRETTY AWFUL lol. Consider that 400 will get you a lot of things and you are giving that up for some mid ass weak character that's mega niche...yeah no.

I just feel bad for a lot of people pulling for her that dont have Xiao. I remember before I pulled Xiao I was so excited to get him just so I could plunge attack. I then found out that plunge attacks feel clunky, unsatisfying and feels interruptive to gameplay. Make sure to play trial Xiao a LOT before pulling for her. Dont make my mistake !

@@asummusa2023I think this is a pretty big misconception. Xiao doesn’t benefit as much from a pure damage perspective as for example Diluc does with vaped high plunges but he definitely does when it comes QoL.
Xinayun gives Xiao similar fanfare generation to Jean over two rotations and better generation than Bennett, a lot of energy especially with fav on a short cooldown making her the highest anemo particle generating battery he has (especially important with Faruzan on the team), off field damage with her newer artifact set or clam, breaks him out of circle impact making him better in a lot multi wave abyss chambers, and provides consistent healing for his full burst duration which is much comfier for him considering he doesn’t have any defensive options optimally
Imo she’s as important to Xiao’s full team as Faruzan is
@@asummusa2023 In terms of Furina yes and no. Diluc will benefit from Xinyun’s fanfare generation but he was already able to better utilize Bennett than Xiao could since Diluc could swap mid rotation and quick swapping lets you build a considerable amount of fanfare from Bennett alone. He also won’t be able to build stacks as consistently since both Bennett and Xianyun will be over healing him and wasting some of each other’s healing every rotation.
Diluc doesn’t need a dedicated battery like xiao teams do. Even with c6 faruzan Xiao’s current best team still has energy problems.
Diluc doesn’t need consistent off field and team wide healing as much as Xiao teams do because Diluc takes less on field time, he’s able to dodge, and he’s able to quick swap into Bennett and keep his infusion.
Neither character was particularly meta before Furina and they both saw huge buffs after her release.

Worst part is limited to so and so damage. This limits her use soo much for me...
If they just made her buff same as Shenhe, she'd be good outside of only single target scenarios.
If Shenhe gives u 5 stacks and u hit 5 enemies with one attack, all stacks are gone but all enemies take the bonus dmg and will likely die.
Xianyun gives u 8 stacks and limits u to use only one stack per plunge, which imo would simply feel awful to play, knowing only one random enemy will take an unnecessarily absurd amount of damage (her buff is up to 3-4 higher than Shenhe's).
They should half her buff and get rid of the limitations imo, or give her an actually useful ascension passive.
Unlike Shenhe, Xianyun provides only 1-2 relevant buffs and heals a bit, whereas Shenhe applies 3 buffs + 2 debuffs, so that's that 🤷♀️
Tbf I dont think it's a direct comparison. Xianyun's flat buff is a lot stronger than Shenhe's. On top of the fact that just enabling plunges in of itself is quite the buff for quite a few melee characters

Shenhe's buff may be weaker but she has 2 more buffs and 2 more debuffs she has to offer, whereas Xianyun offers pretty much only healing.
The ability to plunge, may be nice buf it's usually not that amazing for main dps that are specialized in one part of their kits already.
Wriothesley's kit and artifacts for instance focus on normal and charge attacks, so trying to get the best of both worlds with normal, charged AND plunge attacks is a bit silly.
So I really don't think Xianyun will be a good unit at all.
One thing I can give her credit for is, that she can use the new artifact set in the Navia domain really well, as she can fully stack the dmg increase woth her team wide healing and that's about it.
@@moth5414Shenhe you need to swap into re apply the buff because it is limited to a number of hits, that’s why C6 Shenhe is so strong plus Xianyun has a higher flat buff. Xianyun also gives crit rate which is pretty good.

Buff or debuff is totally irrelevant. It's not a game like dB legend where you can cancel them.

Jokes aside, I think units that can open up a new playstyle are never really bad, at least until they get power crept by another unit that does the same thing but better, kinda like we all built dendro traveler and/or collei before abandoning them when Nahida came around. And I don’t think we’ll be getting another plunge attack buffer any time soon.
Plunging is looking to be a super fun playstyle, and supports are always good. So whatever the final kit is going to be, she’s still going to be an interesting unit.

she's fine imo, another unit that didn't cater to meta-slaves, and open new, fresh possibilities for new playstyles and possibly even reviving old and desolete charas. (and i hope she can make the game fun for me again)

You actually did a really good job talking about this topic, this whole video is so true especially people who just don’t like plunge who call her bad, probably the dumbest argument for any character in the game. That’s like me being allergic to something and saying it’s bad for everybody when I’m one of the only people allergic to it😂. Also I’m still mad about the grouping being removed because plunges and shockwaves move enemies back and now so does her e but I’m still probably going to make it work.
Great video, agree with some, disagree with others but overall very nice points. And yeah 100% agree on the people that call her shit just because they themselves don't like plunges. Seeing Gaming in the beta hit over 200k with a vape plunge WITHOUT furina and with a C0 Xianyun was absolutely bonkers. Her buff is insanely large and i feel a lot of leakers and TC really downplay just how much damage she adds to plunges for some unknown reason.
Xianyun's issue for me isn't being worse than Jean. It's keeping all of Jean's flaws. Which means almost always losing Kazuha + another healer.

So, plunges have longer animation times and DPS units have different values for their plunge attacks. Each DPS unit will need their own calc. Calling plunges a big damage amount doesn’t matter if it is not compared to that DPS unit’s NA/CA combo

I don't understand this need for "GROUPING", as in, when is it ever necessary (been beating the abyss without venti, kazuha, sucrose and the fake "groupers"), can someone please explain this nonsense to me?
I honestly think she'll be fine, she was clearly designed around specific teams but you can work ways around it to make her universal in a sense (though not as effective as other units like Kazuha).
This current version of her, without the grouping from a2, is generally just better than before. Lets be real though, the grouping was unnecessary considering it only really works on smaller enemies and those are the squishy ones too (meaning you'd just kill them before the grouping has any literal value).
Overall I do think she has potential to be good but she'll most probably need some larger investment (c2+) to be considered one of the better supports. At c0 she isn't overly necessary in some teams because you can just get the same value out of a kazuha buff for example, unless ofc you're using xiao who doesn't benefit from anything kazuha or VV provides. At c2 however she definitely moves up to like an A tier support, it cuts her energy requirements and strengthens her already strong buff which should in theory just demolish a single target, like so much so that the fact her buff is only on one enemy won't even matter because you'll be doing that much dmg to one enemy that you're already clearing way faster lmao.
I think in comparison to Jean they're honestly on the same kind of calibre at c0. At that stage they're both mainly just there for the healing, which shouldn't be that much of a difference comparatively. Xianyun can still provide more value than Jean though due to her having dps increasing qualities in her kit, although in some teams you might not be able to take full advantage of it due to not having a reliable character for plunge attacking. Also, in the video it was mentioned about Jean's grouping and just like.. Who really uses Jean for that unless you're just messing around for exploration? The pull on her skill isn't a defining factor of her gameplay, it's mostly forgotten if anything. As I mentioned before, Xianyun won't really need grouping that badly either. Her damage buffs are so significant and a pull only works on small enemies so what's the point?
She isn't one of the worst 5* characters in the game, that title will be on dehya for the rest of the game unless they somehow fuck up that badly again. Xianyun, although niche, has great potential (and we've already seen that before with Shenhe, funnily enough). She's based around plunge attacks and that's that. And unironically if you really want a flexible anemo healer but don't have Jean, just use Sayu. She's got pretty good healing output (more so at c6 if you have it), especially when paired with Furina. :|

So I'm in the beta for 4.4 and Xianyun is definitely NOT shit!!! She brings a lot to the table, fits extremely well into any team, provides incredibly good support, which, among other things, ensures that every DD will be happy about the fact that, in addition to their attacks, every handle is also swirled. She also works extremely well as a DD and is much more fun than Xiao

Yes. But she will be able to play with Hu Tao only if you have Furina, because Xianyun is a healer

@@repashy_ Yes, people have discussed this quite a lot on some leak reddits. It's actually a very viable team and introduces a new pattern for hu tao to take advantage of with charged attack into plunge attack. Though honestly just using GaMing instead will probably have better results but icr.
They keep making sexy cool characters and then fk them up with shit kit and then they make trash characters and give them incredible kits... Pretty sick of it tbh. Navia is the only character since original Raiden release that can be said is both hot and strong...

I think your comparison of Jean and Cr to Yae and Keqing is wrong. Because Keqing and Yae are main dps, having a better dps even tho you can use Keqing in the same teams boost your damage by quote a lot. And also changing dps changes your playstyle quite a lot as well. But changing the support for a side grade doesn't change much of how the team functions outside of the characters who can use pluges like Raiden, Diluc and Xiao. Changing Jean to Cr in a team that doesn't utilize plunges to me isn't a fair comparison from changing Keqing to Yae in aggressive..
I do kind of agree with the video as a whole tho. I think she will be decent. But I think she doesn't add enough to anyone who has Jean or doesn't use the characters who take advantage of plunge. But for ppl who either don't have Jean or use Diluc, Xiao etc she will be a nice addition to those rosters
i do think he is right about comparing, dps isnt that important unless we get harder content, my keqing can sub 40 sec each chamber without a problem, ma yae a bit faster but almost the same
the big difference is the gameplay , same for CR and jean, if you dont enjoy jumping like you're on a pogo stick , cloud retainer is an easy skip (unless you dont have jean and you want that team wide healing from an anemo VV support)

1. Her skill can help with exploration
2. She's Anemo
3. She can heal the whole party
4. New playstyle (plunge), even though it's not making existing teams better some will enjoy it (like what Furina did and when Dendro came out)

The Last 5 star limited pyro character was Yoimiya and ofcourse Yoimiya was trashtalked even though she was a good character because of Single target dps. Yea you can pull whoever you want, i know you are using that as motivation. But there is another side to the coin. To those who are building a team, To those who wanted a genuine anemo buffer, To those who want a cc character, For the People of F2p Xianyun is absolutely a Let down. There’s absolutely no reason to Pull Xianyun except for the reason “If you like her? Pull her” many people who have that thought will pull her and throw her to trash regretting their decision of pulling her. So yea.

Most of the criticism just comes from xianyun being one of the worst designed characters we've seen yet. She's all over the place. Single target plunge damage buff? Crit buff stacks based on enemies hit? Crit buff while crit overcap is already a huge problem for the units she's supposed to support? a post-furina healer without big upfront heal?
If only Jeans voice was that Epic 😭 would be best character ever I need that Jean in my life.

I just want to float around with her and think her anemo app looks a bit easier to manage. Then there is a small thing, not the greatest difference but almost all the teams i like long term have shorter rotations so 18 vs 20s sounds nice.
Also i dont think Jean is bad looking but im weary of her because she dresses like she is way too into horses and it concerns me.
xianyun looks super cool anyway, so i'd get her even if she was garbo, as a xiao enjoyer i am WINNING & i've been told C6 furina can enjoy plunge fun as well so that's another thing for me to have a look at

4 patches after and people forget how abysmally horrible is Hydro Traveler is. He is the real worst 5 star in the game. Hell even on RUclips there are like 3 guides for him and barely anyone recommend him.
Traveler is for puzzles and coop. Try to use them with their counterparts in the same party.
Ex: Venti + AMC, Zhongli + GMC, Neuvillete + HCM.
To bad we can't change Elements in the menus... so, the chances to do that are limited playing with randoms (i have no friends).
actually the problem is with her energy, Xianyun have huge energy issue outside Xiao team(actually its more of c6 Faruzan).. and her heal are both small and slow. a solution is Raiden team, but her buff doesn't work with Raiden, as Raiden have her damage convert to burst damage. To player her in non xiao team, you basically need her C1 or sig. For sig route, you must plunge 8 times for her to regain energy, which restrict your play style. For double E route, her E have cooldown of 12 sec, if you expected to double E on every rotation it means you will have a window of at least 9 second without healing. which make her healing much worse then Jeans.
p.s. TTDS will bring more dps to non- plunge team.. but with TTDS being a 3 star weapon and health sub stats.. her heal will be too insignificant that you probably need another healer/shielder to survive.
It’s definitely a concern but not one that is impossible to work around. You can pretty easily get her to around 200ER in vape teams with fav (effectively putting her at 225ER), Bennett, pyro res, and 4K attack with 2pc atk sets or 3.75k attack with VV. Even with VV that’s more than high enough investment into her plunge buff since that gives you a 7,500 flat plunge attack buff. If you’re really struggling you can put fav sword on furina (effectively putting Xianyun at 240ER~) and your energy issue should be all but solved
It’s actually harder to hit that high of attack in Xiao teams without her signature

Assuming things like Bennett and noblesse don’t apply to her when she’s off field, you’d still be able to hit ~3k and ~200ER with VV, attack helm and sands, pyro res, and fav. With oathsworn in that same build you can get to ~3375 and ~150ER which would go up by 48% after you use her skill. Most TCs I’ve seen are treating 3k attack as the benchmark

Xianyun need 70 energy, she herself get 5 particle from her E. which is 15 energy. lets say every other character in team give 8 particle off field(most unlikely). xianyun will get 5*3+8*3*0.6= 29.4. 70/29.4=238% er needed.
or you can get her E1, and do double E on every rotation. her ECD is 12 sec, doing two E on every rotation will extend rotation to 25 sec at least. which will cut overall damage by more then 1/3.
p.s. noblesse apply to all team member. while Bennett's burst only affect on field character. so noblesse should work on Xianyun.

I plan on eventually using her with my Diluc as well. Right now my VV set is surprisingly pretty good since I spent a lot of time in its domain in the first year of the game. I have 2733 attack (2896 with noblesse), 196ER (221ER with CR catching one fav proc and exactly 238ER with another character catching a second fav proc), 50CR, and obviously using fav. Only downside is I’d have to run furina on fav instead of festering
Hypothetically with Oath I’d be at 3134 attack (3308 with noblesse) and 199ER (216ER with another character catching fav). I probably have some slightly better pieces to help the ER but I haven’t looked into it since I don’t have the weapon lol
