I've always taken that almost literally l;ike she is holding nothing. so altogether its " ill see you again in 25 years.... meanwhile. nothing" stating nothing in Twin peaks for 25 years until its return. ive noticed that sometimes Lynch likes to be upfront with what he means but in different content.
She looks like an ancient Greek statue. One of the reconstructions of Venus, perhaps. This makes sense because they are standing right in the red room.
+Stephanie Douranakis It's actually somewhat surprising nobody bothered to 'copy' Lynch even insofar as you could scare the crap out of TV viewers. They just regarded Lynch as some kind of weirdo. Meanwhile...this is the only time I was actually scared while watching a TV show as a kid.
That because he uses mostly practical effects in his movies and editing tricks, in fact josie death the only cgi in the entire series. If any other director try to emulate it people might think its cheap and cheesy

That scream is still terrifying. The fact that it's reversed means that it's a sound a human voicebox logically should not be able to make, but it just sounds so damn human.
One of the best presentations of a dream sequence (or even fever dream sequence), I've ever seen. Because that's exactly how certain dreams are. They seem quite realistic but then at the same time really strange differences and settings (e.g. how people move and speak) and often very eerie. Twin Peaks was an absolute masterpiece! 👍
@@omegamanGXEno lmfao watch the show if you haven’t. Cooper enters the black lodge physically through the sycamore tree portal. This isn’t a dream at all

The show is still set in like Winter/Spring of 1989, so 25 later would be 2014. I wonder if the show will be set in 2014? Or set now? Also, she could be referring to the fact that in Cooper's original dream of the Red Room, he is 25 years older. Perhaps this is not a dream as he originally thought but rather a premonition of a future event.
I finished the show last night for the first time and god fucking damn, this whole scene and ending was so intense. It's been a long time since I've been so tensed up from a tv show
Just watched Fire Walk With me for the first time after also finishing the first two seasons, and, wow. Laura. I get it now. That poor girl. One episode in on The Return. Excited, but sad ir has to end
The real reason that she says this is because in the dream sequences in Episode 2 Coop is 25 years older and with Laura in the red room. The dream was included in the European Pilot, and in that version it actually includes a subtitle "25 years later". Still interesting though
@@deathfrombelow1193 there was an alternative cut of the pilot episode that was released on home video in European territories which had Cooper confront Bob and ultimately wrapped up the whole story as a self-contained TV movie. Parts of that alternative ending were re-edited into the main series to create the dream sequence where Cooper meets Laura in the red room in episode 3.
I saw the last episode yesterday. And the realization of "25 years" is not accidental words just amazed me. But after I remembered that the first episode shows the old Cooper that is blown my mind. (nice English)
+bergenheis Although it is filmed 25 years later, so there's that! Some involved in making it will see it happen exactly 25 years later. It's just we, the main audience who will have the one year jet lag. The prediction kind of came true!
+coolperson962 Yeah, you can just look at it as rounding down but the specificity of it would have been so awesomely surreal if they had released it a year from the finale The main thing is that all the actors will be 25 years older onscreen which is awesome. And at least the movie was 1992 so 2017 is still technically 25 years from Twin Peaks :P
I am the type of person that doesn't find 95% of horror movies or shows scary. But this is one of the most disturbing scenes to me, maybe it's because I got traumatized as a kid but this is still freaky.
The way she holds her hands looks exactly like how she opens her diary when she pulls it out from under the green statue in Fire Walk With Me. The gesture is visibly mirrored when she's the Doppleganger. Ever since I noticed I've always interpreted this as "See you in 25 years. Meanwhile it's under lock and key!".
Well, there is a scene with an old Cooper (i think is the first in the black lodge). Maybe that was the 25 years later for Lynch's mind back then. I'm glad they are making it, though.
Kept seeing the same line drawing tattoo of two hands and vaguely wondered if it meant something, or was just trendy like finger-mustaches. Then I re-watched Twin Peaks for the first time in like 15 years and it suddenly made sense.
That little guy must have had a blast filming this .... The way he said doppelganger was so strange, his arms were wiggling and looked like he was having a seizure... Very weird scene

Since it's a fictional show the date each episode takes place on doesn't have to be the exact same date as when it's aired. Really, I don't know any show that does that.
She's also frozen like a statue, he'll be frozen and unable to do anything for 25 years while his doppelgänger runs around inhabited by Bob, but inside he'll be torturously screaming.

David Lynch: And I took that literally
You have to wonder if David Lynch planned waiting for 25 years
you dont have to wonder cuz its david lynch. We all know he planned this.
Yes, Lynch planned for the execs to force him to reveal the killer early causing for the ratings to heavily decline and get the show cancelled.
I imagine he kept this line in his mind over the years and at whatever point thought 'hey, this would be a clever time to angle for a revival'.
There was originally supposed to be 2 more movies after Fire Walk With Me, but it did so badly at the box office that plans were canceled.
