Where can I watch this? It didn't air on BBCA nor is it on MAX or Hulu.
@@jessetorres8738 It’s on Disney +. All the new Doctor who episodes moving forward will be on Disney +.
@@LatetotheParty: Ah, I don't have Disney+ so that's disappointing. Thanks anyway for letting me know.
now we need a doctor who and legends of tomorrow crossover. i don't care what they need to do to take care of the licensing. i need to see a brawl between beebo and the meep. probably should turn it into a battle royale with baby yoda too
The “OH MY GOD IVE DONE IT AGAIN” has me dying 😂
David tennent slipped bk into roll like he never been away
new head cannon: Donna secretly did that on purpose so she can travel with the Doctor again lmao
😝😝😝
He did a great job not spoiling the original comic for her, in how he reacted to plot points as the story went on. Good on ya man! Well done!
I absolutely love how Fourteen acknowledges his past lives. Tennant’s return is different but same. While it may be the same nostalgic face, you really feel like he’s been through so much since he departed from Donna. I’m so hyped for special two, what a strong and promising start to a New era 🙌
He doesn't internalise anything like he did as 10 because the pain from everything is much less, the time war had a happy ending. So he shows his feelings a bit more and talks different, when he was hurting and worried about Donna he was much more open about it hurting him than hiding it and waiting to be alone.
It's the 14th regeneration but he's not a new doctor so he's still 10.
@GrandiaKnight He's not though, it's been said multiple times that he's the Fourteenth. Similar, but not the exact same. By your logic, The Curator is just the Fourth Doctor when it's not
@@c.lvr2602 do we have any definitiive proof the curator isn't the 4th doctor? or that he is any doctor whatsoever. my thought was 1,2, or 3 ran into him at some point off screen and took his face like they did with capaldi's character inspiring his face
I have to say this, I absolutely love Shirley. She and Tennant have the most natural chemistry, they spoke once and the two characters just instantly clicked. It’s the almost casual willingness to work together that just works, like they really understand each other just by knowing a significant about the other’s life and work, and then just trust that the other knows what they’re doing too. It’s awesome.
My lil heart didn't want to believe The Meep was eeeevol, but now that I've come to terms with it, I actually want a Meep plushie even more 😅😅
The Meep would be perfect for one of those evil teddy kind of designs where when you turn the arm the teeth turn sharp and the eyes mean. haha
I really thought that Donna would not regain her memories in the first special.
Well, I like that she gained them back. Now we have two specials to enjoy her at full power.
Not at full power anymore, she let it go she's no longer doctor Donna, if she was she wouldn't have threw coffee at the tardis 😂😅
@@shaanysully9908 it’s obvious if the doctor wants her back as Doctor Donna he knows she can get rid of it before it damages herself
@@fayesouthall6604meta-crisis was a one time phenomenon - he would need to chop his hand again for it to happen. She gave it all away.
I love that you can clearly hear David's and Matt's intro in this intro
I love how the scene in the spaceship blends the both moments that Donna was the most important companion for 10, fires of Pompeii and Journey's End, it's the same feeling of Donna trying to save anybody (everybody this time) and 10 having to feel rage of what it's going to happen to her
Also it's reminiscent of the special with Wilf as his companion. Forgot the name, but the one where The Doctor absorbs a lot of energy to save Wilf.
This has been the most I've enjoyed Doctor Who since I was a kid. I loved it so much.
David Tennant must be eating a special diet, because for a man who is 52 years old, he has more energy than I have, and I am 38. See him climb the set at 18:28 - this man will never grow old it seems.
loved the bit where he ran around the Tardis, the Tardis listened to him.. in day of the doctor he said that he loved the "round things"
I was floored!! I loved every second!!!!
Also... The picture was amazing on Disney plus. Just saying. Gorgeous!!
I have to admit though. Donna had me in tears for a minute when she said, "like I had something lovely." I found myself looking to the side where my sweetheart should have been sitting. 💙
it was amazing on the beeb too in UHD
Yes I watched it in the U.K. on BBC 1 but the iplayer had the 4K version which I watched this morning.
Deluded
Beep the Meep is basically like my cat; cute and cuddly one moment, then all teeth and claws and fury the next.
I like how the opening of this episode sort of acts as a reverse of the traditional "New Companion" perspective.
It goes from the "everyday" where the Doctor lands on Earth for another adventure only for things to ramp up when he meets Donna again and hears "Rose", sees The Ship, and hears about Wilf in quick succession.
The Doctor is the one trying to keep up and so are we, which, when we've been following the Doctor away from Donna for so long, makes sense.
Jason means Healer or Physician. So Donna named her son Doctor.
in the terrace house I used to live in in the UK, we could walk through the attics for 6 houses one way, and 4 the other, there were no dividing.
walls.
We spent many hours exploring and rummaging through stuff people had shoved in their lofts 🙂
25:25 Ohhh that's actually a pretty good theory. When I watched it I was like "why didn't the 13th doctor think of it before, then?" but if she didn't know Donna had a child then she maybe wouldn't have even had the idea!
Donna 100% spilled her coffee on purpose!
Beep the meep is such a good character i never read/heard of the comic before watching it so watching the reveal of the meep being evil had me dying
The music was brilliant as always but when we got to hear, “I Am The Doctor” I just started crying! Whether Matt Smith is lying about coming back it was so good hearing that little bit. Murray Gold is magic!
Hearing that music over Tennant was sooo coool
The clue is there. I have been told at least two previous doctors will be returning for the 60th, and Matt is one of them. Unless my source is not correct, but they have been perfect over the years.
When did we hear “I Am The Doctor”? :o
@@AuroraNora3 When Donna gets her memory back and saves London inside the room with the doctor. When both are flicking switches, it is there for all to hear
@@johnking5174 I was so overwhelmed by excitement that I didn't notice 😭
I find it utterly amazing that something I watched as a 6, 7 year old kid in Scotland and watching Peter Davison is a programme that is now adored all over the world. I even remember crying at one episode because someone died (can't remember who)...... I also walk past a few of the old police boxes everyday in Glasgow. One is now a red Tardis and is a mini E-Cigarette shop...... I'll have to take a picture of it somehow and show you it.
I can't help thinking that Rose making toys is somehow going to end up being connected to the Toy Maker. I think it is too much of a coincidence for it not to be.
In the scene starting at 50 mins there's a shop in the background called Cyberdog with two large silver figures outside it.
It was honestly such a good episode. And it’s so nice to see you two react to it again! 💗
Happy to see you back as well!
Doing Who reactions that is.
I just realized, there was a bit of Capaldi in Donna's rant to the Doctor: "So I could be, like you."
The another word for boss is master (maybe) . The Meep reminded me of the gremlins of the 80's
Russell said the TARDIS was now wheelchair accessible which I thought was really cool.
Donna spelled the coffee on purpose 😅 wanted more than 1 trip.
My absolute FAVOURITE Donna moment was her fully ready to drop kick that furry wee rat for calling Rose weird😭😂
Never mess with a protective mama 😂
That wee rat was correct..it was a dude in a dress ffs
@@petechambers541tf? Well I’ve got news for you. The new doctor is gonna wear a kilt so🤷🏽♂️
@@Imgaezz like it's gonna matter , black poof doctor will kill the show lol
@@petechambers541 comments like this are dumb and intolerant.
He uses that Sonic screwdriver A LOT and I'm alright with it. It is now officially the Doctor's wand LOL (I just wish I had one now.)
I yelled (in my head) when he used it to get into the Temple-Noble house lmao- “It doesn’t do wood?!!?!?!”
Technically it does now. They did the calculations in Day of the Doctor when 3 of the doctors were locked in the Tower of London,
Towards the end of the episode, when Donna accidentally spilled that coffee on the TARDIS console, well, does anyone else get the feeling that the TARDIS was waiting for that? Because the bell didn't ring until the TARDIS took off with them. Because in the next episode the TARDIS will fly away without them, so for some reason the TARDIS decided to take them there. Plus, the TARDIS is sentient, so she knew this was going to happen for a long time. Oh, sorry for my english, i´m from Czech Republic.
People did think the male identified comment to be weird. Near the end.
I did think the Rose actor was a little wooden. I understand why the gran was having trouble with pronouns etc. Nice that they showed that. Also with the bullies from school. I do worry about the hate that go towards the actress. Rtd has always featured lgbt characters.
Loved the episode and your reaction! I hope we get to see some more of this Rose. Yasmin Finney is fantastic! Love her in Heartstopper and she's already shining so much here!
When I saw the new energy functions of the Sonic, I was like Joker in Batman ‘89. “Why didn’t somebody tell me he had one of those…things!”
I loved it. Enough nostalgia to make me happy wrapped up in a fun story. Donna is my favorite companion. The doctor Donna made my heart melt!
Aside from the clunky dialogue and idea that Rose & Donna could just "let it go", Doctor Who is back. Shoutout to Murray Gold (as you kinda did with various point outs of revamped scores & themes from the past), who instantly made this feel like Doctor Who again.
I realised that she didn’t get the full doctor brain she shared it with Rose so it was easier to let it go.
@@fayesouthall6604 see, if that was how they explained it in the episode, it'd be fine (or that time allowed their brains to process it), but they didn't. Like I said though, it was the only bit of off writing in the episode, though, so I can let it slide.
Didn't actually Rose (blond Rose) do it back when she took in some Tardis energy and brought Jack back?
I loved every moment of this! Doctor Donna forever!!!! I would kill for 10/14 and Donna to meet The Paternoster Gang
All hail Beep the Meep!
The meep is so powerful, it could not be contained within the comic strip it debuted in!
Been waiting all day for Star Beast reactions 😅 Subscribed.
13:14 lol. Great reference
25:16 I was a little disappointed with the resolution too. On the one hand it was funny that all she had to do was let it go. On the other hand it was 15 years of her life wasted. Vanessa’s theory is interesting that it had to be both to let go but I still would have liked something more substantial.
Great reaction.
So happy Doctor Who is back. He’s exactly what we need right now.
First reaction to the episode. I loved it, but feel the 50th Anniversary felt more like an anniversary special. Love your reactions
I think this one is more of a re-introduction to not only Tenant's Doctor but Donna also obviously, and some backstory to build to the finale of the specials with I assume The Toymaker involved (and probably explaining why Tenant's Doctor came back) so you kind of have to wait for all 3 since they are "all" the anniversary special basically. Leading into the Christmas special with the new Doctor etc.
This was delightful, Thank you. Can't wait to see Neil Patrick hehe. Had a crush on him since I was a kid. 2 of my favorite men in one show?! Amazing.
I am slightly shocked how quickly reaction videos emerge! My take is that this is very much Dr Who nostalgia as it was played (literally on the same day in 1983) when I was a kid. We have the older characters, more experienced actors with gravitas, more experienced writer, plus a new Tardis interior. It feels good. It's not the best special and the content and inspiration looks back to my childhood. But, like almost everything to do with British culture at the moment, it feels like a holding pattern before something changes. And, for old and new, we welcome both.
I appreciate the positivity in this video and in the comments! I was giddy the whole time. Looking forward to the rest! You’ve gained a new subscriber 😊💙💙
So happy to have to join the party!
I GREW UP ON DOCTOR WHO . from doctor 1 to doctor 14
You can definitely tell they have Disney money. Sonic powers, Meep and the amazing Tardis.
This was such a brilliant episode, a glorious return of Donna and an introduction of Rose. It’s like David, Cat and RTD have never been away. Omg I’m in love with the new console room, I swear there was an old concept design that looked like this.
When Beep said “the Boss!” I couldn’t help but think of another character from the comic strips and that is J. W. Dogbolter.
I’m so happy you (Robert) also mention the Beep at the BBC comic strip. 😂. I still have that issue of DWM somewhere.
11: look at the round things
10: I love the round things
11: What are the round thing
10: I've no idea
What if "the boss" is actually...THE MASTER???
I thought that
Meep must of ate after midnight.
I’m so sorry we didn’t get to see Wilf. I loved him
It was a bit rushed i think? Could have had more emotional payoff with their "true" reunion when donna remembered and the "just let it go" bit felt like a bit of a cop out. But other than that i enjoyed itn😅
This is like an Amalgamation of EVERY Tardis Control Room tbh 😁😁😁😁
SO MANY ROUND THINGS!!
No one can ever tell me any differently that David was made to be the doctor. The way he effortlessly slip is into this roll after being away for so long is incredible. Considering the last time he played the doctor was the 50th anniversary as an element of the show and now he gets his own chance to shine again is amazing to see, genuinely feel like a kid again. Christopher was my first doctor but David will always be my doctor
A MIRACLE FOR THE HOLIDAYS...OUR BELOVED DOCTOR RETURNS✨ENJOY THIS WHILE IT LASTS.....
This was an INCREDIBLE episode. Dr. Who is BACK, baby!
Out of all the reaction vids, i think you guys are the only ones to have caught the doctor’s theme at 8:00 lol
Hearing that theme alone was so powerful!!
Murray Gold's music means everything to us! So many memorable themes that are just as important as The Doctor themselves.
Glad to see yall back! The upgrade the sonic had from "beep boop info transfers' that don't mean anything to '3d generated interactive panels" that we can finally see was amazing! I didn't expect to see Doctor Donna so quickly.
I'm guessing he will regenerate after visiting Wilf in the finale & it's going to hurt really really really bad.
I started bawling at the first mention of wilf
I reckon Donna spilt the coffee on purpose
The Meep looks like a demented Furby mixed with a Sugar Glider xD
With a little bit of aye-aye mixed in too, I thought…
Loved this video! I need people to nerd out with over this special lol! I'm intrigued to check out the comic version of the Star Beast now! I'm proud to say i did predict Donna having a child would have something to do with the meta crisis resolution :D also, fun fact I learned through one of the various reviews of the episode - Rose's deadname, Jason? Means Healer or Doctor. So Donna actually named her child subconsciously after her forgotten best friend! What a freaking emotional ride I'm still not recovered from.
No disrespect to Jodi Whitaker, who did the best she could with what she was given; but in a single episode, all the magic of the 10th doctor is back! I’m very interested to see what happens next
Same.
I don't believe Jodie is that good an actor, she really didnt live the part. Yes the writing was bad but she didnt even TRY to patch it up.
@@algrant5293 not her job to sort out the script
Same. Even Ruth felt more like the Doctor than Jodie.
@@algrant5293Jodie is a great actress. That’s like saying all the fantastic actors who acted like crap in the Star Wars prequels are actually bad actors. Actors can only do so much with bad writing and directing.
Quand j'ai regarder personnellement l'épisode, quand j'ai vu le Meep, il m'a fait penser aux Gremlins, la révélation du psychédélique solaire m'a fait comprendre que j'avais inconsciemment compris l'intrigue de l'alien.
It Was a very very very welcome return! loved it!
I showed Beep the Meep to a Facebook friend who hasn’t watched for a while because I know she loves Baby Yoda. Beep the Meep ain’t no Baby Yoda. And if I had to guess I’d say the Meep meant the Toymaker by “the Boss.”
Oh yeah that’s The Toymaker ! I can wait for that episode.
Will have to watch tomorrow but i am excited to see what you both thought of the episode, I loved it 😊 both hilarious and emotional, can't wait for next week's
It was so nice to see my favorite new era Doctor in the live action version of my all time favorite Doctor's story.
Russle T. Davies came home and made a huge statement. I am the the best tory teller in the history of Dr. WHO
Such a fun return! And loved the reaction as always 🥰
Next one is supposed to be scary, loved the episode
I feel so betrayed by the Meep
I absolutely love that you guys cover Doctor Who 😆 David Tennant is my first doctor and of course my favorite. 💙 Loved this episode so much..
Thank you for your reaction!! It's great to see other people react the same way as I do.
This is the first channel I’m subscribed to that has watched this episode,
Great to have them back that wig that David Tennant has on for trail between the Meep and the Wrath Warriors was a reference to The Stones of Blood with Tom Baker.
OMG HI Vanessa and Robert I’m a huge fan by the way I love your Doctor Who movie reactions so much, I haven’t seen those movies before it’s kinda new to me, but it seems very interesting, and happy 60th anniversary wooo 🥳, you worked so hard for us we love you guys so much 💜🩷, we really appreciate it a lot, I’m Kuromi by the way nice to me you and for those of you don’t know me well, the actors did a phenomenal job. I can’t not wait to see your videos soon.
The tshirt Robert lolll. "...Bullshit!"
Reacting to Dr Who! I’m so there! Other than the Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith, the Doctor with Donna is my favorite. And to see them adapt a story that I read as a comic book reprint that used Tom Bakers Doctor. So sweet.
Major shootout and mad RESPECT for having karl pilkington's bullshit man t shirt.
You’re right on saying the toymaker
Great to have Tennant and Tate back. I missed the show. Overall a great start to the anniversary year
The technobabble came back with a vengeance!
Those ramps will come in handy for one of the new companions who uses A scooter to be around or if 53 wants to travel with the doctor
Series 4 intro with trillion times the budget and the biggest Console room ever. I LOVE IT.
I loved everything about the Special, maybe they could have kept the Meta-Crisis till the last Special but otherwise this was absolutely brilliant from start to finish, the Budget shows. BUT MOST OF ALL the writing, we actually have humans being humans. Something like the interactions of Donna and her family has been missed during Chibnalls Era, i at least cant remember we had something like that.
I enjoy one. I also appreciated the joy everyone working on this episode. It just worked.
we welcome back the Techno-babble that the RTD-era was famously loved for
I honestly had a ball with this episode. It was fast paced, nostalgia overload and explained some things while left things hanging for the next two specials obviously. Tenant is awesome as always as was Tate. The only thing I can't stand is the certain section of the "fandom" screaming already that it's just "woke" BS etc. Either way, it was awesome to see Tenant back of course and man I can't wait until next Saturday now.
The ‘woke’ parts involved human beings and that’s enough for me. When people get up in arms about wheelchair users and trans people they show a lack of understanding and compassion. Something that the doctor would never do.
your brain is mush
I mean people forgetting it's Doctor Who - it was always woke and will stay woke. Was some parts of this episode kinda cringe and super clunky? Yeah. But so was 13th Doctor talking about plastic in the oceans and RTD talking about why he took Davros off the wheelchair. Some things just got akward writing and delivery. Doesn't really matter.
@@mjm3091 Exactly. Like Star Trek, Doctor Who has always been woke basically. I don't know why people think these shows are just now becoming "woke". And the only real "line" I even had a problem with, and it's not even that I had a problem with it per se, but could see the toxic side of the internet going crazy over it - is the "male presenting" line etc. That should have been delivered better imo, but it's still fine either way to me.
@@LordLOCthere is a difference between woke done right and wrong lol look at caprain jack hed gay and everyone loved him nobody complained... now look at rose her whole character is im trans ... im a woman so i can let go ... now i finnaly feel accepted ... get what i mean?
The new Tardis reminds me of Cerebro.
Great episode
Actually, for why he got a new Screwdriver, you have to check the comic ''Liberation of the Daleks'' that takes place right after his regeneration and before the Children in Need Special. (Some people actually compiled the Comic as a video if you want to check it out, it's a pretty nice adventure) but bascially, 13's sonic Screwdriver was destroyed by the Daleks during the events of the Comic. We don't see the new Screwdriver in it however, so the TARDIS probably gave him a new one in-between
late to the party is early to the party for once.
I loved this first special. Great seeing the Doctor and Donna again. I love the inside of the new Tardis. I’m curious if this Tardis design will also be used for the 15th Doctor?
I don’t think so but you never know?
It looks super expensive, so I can't imagine they'll reveal it then only use it for 2 episodes.
But maybe 15 will modify or adapt it to his tastes. Like how 12 kept it but added the chalkboards and bookcases...
@@raelshark they are using the money wisely
It's super blank, so they definitely can make it different with small amount of work - I do hope they gonna give it a fire theme. Similar how 13th had those crystal shards that made it look like everything exploded.
I really liked this episode. I mean the intro and seeing David Tennant in the titles again gave me goosebumps and reminded me when I was watching Doctor Who as a kid. There were a lot of fantastic, pun intended, references of past events and people. I got really teary when The Doctor mentioned Wilf, he really did love him and saw him as his own dad. Some of my favourite scenes in this was when The Doctor used his Sonic Screwdriver to make shields which adds more to his philosophy of never carrying a gun. Also the part where he starts shouting when Donna has to remember, man David can act.
The only gripe I had is the “pronoun” scene, i think it felt forced and bit cringey but other than that the episode was a great start to a new era
Interesting to see what you made of it . I remember watching the very first episode at 8 years old and the new Tardis control room is reminiscent of the original . There was a lot to like about it , obviously it had a bigger budget and it took it back towards a younger audience whilst resolving the Doctor /Donna issues and I'm looking forward to the next one .
I have literally waited for this day and I was wondering if anybody else was going to react to it and you were the first one I saw and I clicked immediately I love how they Incorporated David to kind of still connect the old Doctor who to then be able to transfer into the new Doctor who. My inquiry is where does Neil Patrick Harris come in because as far as I know this is always been like a British kind of show as far as I know Neil is American
I mean, they had Jack Harkness who isn’t British?
@@VicMacphee yes but he played American soldier . I just thought it was more of a British show but I totally could be wrong or now they're just adding more people that are not British to kinds of include the rest of the world . I don't mind it though it was more of a curiosity then a ick
Roberts O-Face all through the episode was me, one to one. Like "What? 😮"
Tennant mentioned on the commentary that he doesn’t know who the boss is. So it’s for ncutis season presumably
The doctor lies
I liked the narration at the top of the episode, it kind of felt very old school tv where youd have like Jonathan Frakes walk into frame and address the audience
