I came out to San Diego 25 years ago and at night you couldn't find a door stoop in downtown at night without a homeless person sleeping there. My wife and I honeymooned in SD in 2014 and homeless were allowed to dwell in businesses preventing patrons from using customer seating areas. Now this. Homelessness is a complex issue that cannot be solved with 140 character talking points. But it also won't be solved by by letting them do as they please either.
And imagine the moment a store owner defends themselves (and more importantly their LIVELIHOOD) with a weapon, then all the sudden the police come and arrest the store owner. This is injustice.

Remember when the homeless were harmless? You'd have a few drunks here and there, but for the most part, they left you alone to live their own lives. I used to volunteer to work with the homeless weekely at shelters. I would canvas the neighborhoods passing out food, blankets, toiletries, etc. Now it's too dangerous to do even that. They have become criminals. And because of this, I no longer have have much compassion as I used to. I now see them as a nuisance and a safety concern.

My wife and I honeymooned in SD in 2014 and homeless were allowed to dwell in businesses preventing patrons from using customer seating areas.

Homelessness is a complex issue that cannot be solved with 140 character talking points. But it also won't be solved by by letting them do as they please either.
And imagine the moment a store owner defends themselves (and more importantly their LIVELIHOOD) with a weapon, then all the sudden the police come and arrest the store owner. This is injustice.

Yep I grew up in SD and moved to Colorado until it turned blue. Weather is beautiful even though it snows. Freedom and safety was worth the price. Now that weed is legal and anything goes, it's as disgusting as So Cal.
This happened at my work in Orange County. The police had to move him three times because he burned our pine cones, and damaged our neighbor’s chairs from their restaurant. I had to clean everything up. A lot of ashes from the cigarette. They should call the police and arrest him. That’s a dangerous weapon he has there, and could hurt one of them; or they’re costumers

Remember when the homeless were harmless? You'd have a few drunks here and there, but for the most part, they left you alone to live their own lives. I used to volunteer to work with the homeless weekely at shelters. I would canvas the neighborhoods passing out food, blankets, toiletries, etc. Now it's too dangerous to do even that. They have become criminals. And because of this, I no longer have have much compassion as I used to. I now see them as a nuisance and a safety concern.

#1) Pepper spray-this is always the best line of self defense for about anybody because it's non lethal and you can effectively hit somebody in the face and eyes accurately from 3-4 yards so you don't even need to be near them to use it. #2) Gun-it goes without saying if somebody is threatening you with a crowbar that's a threat to your life and you have every right to defend yourself. I carry both everywhere I go. Fuck whatever gun laws that exist where you live just carry anyway. The criminals damn sure will ignore them so should you.

Girl, that man is dangerous. Sad that the city and SDPD allow this. You need to arm yourself, which also involves training for your safety and the safety of your employees and customers. I would suggest you talk to other business owners in the neighborhood and consider hiring private, armed security. That could be pricey, but if you all shared the cost it would be worth it. I would also contact SDPD and start attending city council meetings and demand some answers!
