Hi Adrian. Thank you! I'm subscribed to him. I love his covers. He's a great musician. I appreciate it and thanks for your kind words. All the best, Dave.
Hey Cam. It's about the same as playing the trumpet. The flugelhorn probably has a few more intonation problems than the trumpet. Also, it sometimes takes a while to find a mouthpiece that works well with it. And because of the depth and backbore of the mouthpiece, it can sometimes feel like it takes more air, until you get used to it. But basically, it's not hard at all for a trumpeter to take up.
Hi Angie, Sure, or you can check my tutorial video on this song on my channel. it might be clear enough there to do a 'print screen' or if you'd rather have a scan, just send me a message through youtube with your email address and I can send it. Thanks for listening! Dave
this is f*ckin' awesome......Is it possible to get the shett of this and from your version of Il silenzio? I'm still not that good on the trumpet but I have fun to play it and hope that I can play like you in future ;)
So do you think I could take it up? I really like the sound of it. If you watch the videos of me playing trumpet, do you think I could start on the flugelhorn
Hey do you think you could send me the music? please? I love this song and your amazing at trumpet, im a sophomore in high school and I want to lean a lot of songs!!
Sure, I think you'd do fine playing the flugelhorn, but the main reason not very many young people play it is there is rarely any flugelhorn part in their band's music and not unless you have a jazz band (or you're in the UK and play in a brass band), there really isn't any call for a flugelhorn. Then there is the added expense (good flugelhorns can be costly). And if you're still in your formative years, it could actually take you away from your trumpet and hinder development there.
Hi. Sure. The flugelhorn is no more difficult to play than the trumpet. I guess the most famous person who couldn't read music but played flugelhorn (in the middle part of his career) was none other than Chet Baker! The fingerings and technique involved is the same as the trumpet. For young beginners (children), it's a bit too large/heavy to hold, but for anyone else it's rather easy to handle.
you made this so fast and it's so amazing! you got skillz!!
Thanks, it was a fun tune to record. Glad you enjoyed it! Dave
Thank you. I appreciate your kind words! I had a lot of fun putting it together. I like the original song. :-)

Sending the music your way. The trumpet verrsion is identical to the flugelhorn. Enjoy!
Is the flugelhorn in the key of Bb? Anyways, nice job!

Can a beginner pick up the flugelhorn fairly fast, or is it complicated? Do people play this horn who don't read music or know any theory? thx

For everybody:
Trumpet and Flugelhorn are two completely different instruments!
:)
P.S trumpet not flugelhorn
