Hey Ben! Just wanted to say, you absolutely killed the video, even the shots you thought were poor. Although I'm an engineer, not a film maker, I thought it was a great way to give the viewer a perspective of your journey and things we would've otherwise not seen; it was also a good way to transition between clips. It was definitely nice to see a new video from my favorite travel vlogger; even though you're more inconsistent than my father, I can't wait to see what you have in store for us during March & the rest of your travels! Keep up the great work!

Nowhere near the cheapest city in the world but Bangkok is a phenomenal place to visit.
Cheapest place I have found was central Vietnam
I was getting big bottles of local beer (huda) in a bar for 20p

@@jhonklan3794 Just because @DivandBenny didn't name a city doesn't mean they weren't referring to one. Hue and Hoi An are in central Vietnam. They are incredibly cheap. Both would definitely be classified as "cities".

Travelling alone is a honestly underrated, it pushes you to meet new people and enjoy your own company hahaha! Just need to make sure you’re careful 🫡
I visited 'Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia' back in 2019. It is another destination for tightwads. Classy Country, Charming Citizens, Fantastic Food and so much fun. Travelling solo is the best remedy.
I remember getting 70THB to the pound early 2000s- it made it unbelievably cheap! My daily backpacking budget was £10 - large Chang beers for 40thb, what a time to be alive!

Vietnam is much cheaper for locally made products, or food.
However western made products are crazy expensive, I’m from Australia and paid $19 AUD for a bottle of Fiji water and a can of deodorant in a “7/11” type shop in Hanoi. But also paid $8-10 for most meals.
2:49 Holy sh...t the price is double food court's mall. Honestly, the stir fried basil with chicken normally is only 40 Baht (you can buy this price at any food court in Bangkok)
Interesting when I was in Bangkok more than 10 years ago they were so strict, and now there's 'coffee shops' everywhere. I feel like you'd be terrified to get involved in drugs in the past!

Bangkok is not the cheapest: for hotels, food and transport - other cities are cheaper, such as Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Cairo and Istanbul. And if you go to smaller cities in these countries, it is often even much cheaper.

@@benmorris I find Ho Chi Minh City can be cheaper. For Thailand, Chiang Mai is pretty big and cheaper.

I agree! Bangkok is by no means cheap - relative to many other southeast Asian cities - if you are a tourist, even if you backpack.

4:23 the reason you see so many elephant trousers is because before you enter the temple (I think it applies only to women) there's a sign that says you need to wear long trousers as a form of respect so vendors sell these elephant trousers outside.

cheap when you exchanging the currency of your country towards the visited country. for local you must take a look at the wages paid for lower bracket group income and middle bracket group. compared it to cost of living especially food rent and petrol prices.

I missed a connection and was stuck in Bangkok airport for 13 hours until they could get me on the next available flight I hadn’t any Thai money just Aussie dollars & Sterling. I decided I’d have a nice meal I had a bottle of wine bottle of water a main meal a pudding and a coffee & thought I’d better use my credit card to pay this was back in 1998 but when it hit my card it came in at a little over £4.50 I should have known it wouldn’t have been much I’d bought an England football shirt for £7 earlier and it was exactly the same as you’d buy in the U.K. 😅

I know I've heard there's a lot of human trafficking in Bangkok and it's one of those thing that wouldn't be obvious when seeing someone on the street or the way they behave so would probably not give a recommend to folks to head there for "those reasons" even as a cheeky bit at the end of the video. Bangkok is an absolute different class of a city. Once you’ve learnt to handle the smell which at first is overwhelming. It’s absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to get back over there in 2024. Soi cowboy is an experience aswell haha. I got caught using Snapchat in a bar and got a fine of 1000 bhat. Safe to say I left after that 😂😂😂
If I read correctly, it says centurylink on the shirt you bought, which is a pretty big internet provider in the US lol. It was probably their shirts for technicians😂

Gosh,even by Australian standards Thailand has gotten expensive as their currency is stronger over years and ours weaker,I believe many pensioners were forced to leave country. If one has pounds then another story,cheers 🍻

Everyone has these trousers because they won’t allow you to get in the temple in shorts, and they usually have a shop to sell you these trousers so that you can get in. That’s how I got a pair too lol
I've never fancied going to Bangkok until now. But thanks to you my opinion has changed to I definitely won't ever going there. Each to their own I guess. Great work as ever Ben!
1:10 as a Thai I’d say they are a bit gimmicky. The coffee is mediocre but for the price you can’t complain much.

Better than Indonesia, Phillipines, Msia, Spore, China..

Thailand's got some gems, been over 25 times, Bkk is not the cheapest place what so ever to go. And £3.50 is mega pricey for a meal, you can get incredible chicken/beef pad ka prow which is basically what you got, and it's around 35-50p a meal. Never the less good content bud.
I got the pricing wrong on that but I could’ve defo got cheaper than £1.50 as I was in the weekend market so a bit more expensive than usual!

The Tao Bin machines literally translates to "turtle flies" or "flying turtle"--the Tao is pronounced more like DAO. Edit: also "wat" means temple so I find it funny how you called it "temple temple"
