Finally someone give us an amazing aerial views of the city of *Kingston* .....🤔
This is beautiful, Kingston needs more high-rise buildings and needs a skyscrapers or two. The place is already cramped, so the only way to go is up. Also the infrastructure in Kingston needs major upgrades, new and larger water and sewerage pipelines to accommodate skyscrapers and increase demand. Also a small rail system would be good for traffic management and efficient use of public transport around the city and surrounding urban areas.
Taller buildings in Kingston and Jamaica as a whole is impractical due to its location within the hurricane zone and to reduce congestion. It's also good that Jamaica has adopted its unique identity and not sought to emulate cities in North America. States like Florida have high rise buildings and are in the hurricane zone however, in the event of disaster they have access to significant funding from the central government to aid in recovery which are frankly not available to the Jamaican government.
@@kam1st971 Thank you. well said. We are also in an earthquake fault zone so skyscrapers are not recommended for us.
Kingston must lead the world as a green city with green spaces. The concrete and glass model creates higher climate conditions, extreme wind velocity, and it is not good psychologically. Open spaces is better for Jamaica. A few towers here and there is cool, but not concentrated.
So you want it to turn into new york. I don't want to live new york and feel like I'm in New York again I want feel like I'm in Jamaica

@@javonwatkins6924 it actually says a lot that you’d resort to calling me an idiot right off the bat! (Empty barrels huh? 😂) Firstly you mentioned Trinidad (which I’ve visited) in your examples which is actually outside of the hurricane zone (😉 research before you talk). Secondly the majority of Havana in Cuba (which I’ve visited) does not have high rise buildings outside of the tourist areas! Puerto Rico (visited also) is a part of the USA and have full access to billions of US disaster funding.. however they are STILL recovering from the last major storm that hit it in 2017! The Dominican Republic is the most popular tourist destination in the entire Caribbean and is wealthier than Jamaica and capable of recovering from natural disaster! They also now a as comply to strict regulation on construction which dictate all high rise building be resistant to category 5 hurricane.. because they’ve learned the lesson! Lastly I noticed you didn’t mention my point about a unique identity! Why should Jamaica blindly follow other countries and build skyscrapers without purpose?! Just for show (I imagine that appeals to you) There are many cities in Europe which don’t follow that model and are among the most sophisticated and developed countries in the world! I’m a big man. I’ve seen and done a lot. Next time do your homework before you try and “step” to me.
@@kam1st971 thanks for pointing out that there are so many more interesting metrics for scoring a city other than having an overly skyscrapered skyline. A city can be scored for its liveability; that is: accessibility to public transport, access to sanitation, access to communication, access to green spaces etc. I can never understand Pete's and some other commentators obsession with skyscrapers being the defining quality of a modern, progressive city.

Kingston looks like a city. Montego bay doesn't look like a city . Looks more like a large resort town .
At the end of the day it's still a city. There are cities in my country that are smaller and less populated than Montego Bay. Every city should have it's own uniqueness. Also, skyscrapers aren't a must. Some cities here have none... Washington DC has none.
The definition of a city is not having skyscrapers but about the resources and amenities available to the people.
