That guy in the sheriffs department sounded like he really whanted to go home 😂
Just an FYI, from top of pole it is High Voltage Power, Low Voltage Power, Telephone Cable, TV/Internet Cable. The lowest line on a pole should be no lower than 14 feet on a secondary road, or 18 feet on a major road or highway.
We are super thankful that your alright! Tractors and powerlines are replaceable your not! You just got your reason to be thankful this turkey day...you had a angel on your shoulder watching out for you, thank God those weren't power lines!
Did you hear the pause in the dispatchers voice when you told him you were in front of the saloon with your tractor? Wonder what he was thinking.
We appreciate you Ryan! Thank you and happy thanksgiving!!
Great video Ryan. I just thank God that nobody was hurt when those lines came down. I wouldn’t be surprised if your heart wasn’t still pounding after getting tangled in the wires. That is enough to scare the daylights outta anyone.
Happy Holidays
Thanks for sharing

Did you say the most kindest words you could when you hit them lines? ;)
Ryan...3 weeks after Hurricane Sandy, I had to go out on Long Island in an 18 wheeler with supplies for a warehouse that had been under 10' of water. In less than 2 miles away, there was an accident that diverted traffic. I had to turn right. Telwo blocks down, several school busses passed across an intersection. I turned left, as there were no warning signs for a semi. It was just getting into dusk, and I thought I heard some scraping sounds. There were low trees, but then I noticed a black line fall across my trailer. I took out 5 telephone lines.. The NY State police helped me out of the neighborhood, as the lines had been installed way too low without proper identification. Thank God out wasn't a makeshift power line. I know EXACTLY how you felt!
Great video man. The camera angles are great. You've come a long way and you do a great job.
We ride on top of the fire trucks as santa around town here. I got my helmet knocked off by a phone line one night. Scared the hell out of me!
Big Dreams on Small Acres haha! Was Santa ok? Haha

Old farmer says: Had a good year. We broke even !
I agree with you on the lights, noticed that on our tractors as well.
That flip phone though 😂
My flip phone will be 10 years old in January. It will be replaced this January with another flip phone.
smcox1991 ummm lol
smcox1991 I see people with old phone still now. With not even internet basic 2003 flip phone rubbish hahaha people oddbods
If all you need to do is call, they work great... don't take up much space and pretty durable...
That said I wouldn't give up my Android.
Later! OL J R :)
Are you Judging him
In most cases if you hit powerlines you will be ok as long as you don't get out of the vehicle my grandfather was on a construction sight and a man hit a live cable trapped around the vehicle he was fine but he got impatient and got out he was killed there and then
guess you really have something to be thankful for today... happy thanksgiving back to ya.
Good video . I had a bottom line down out back in the woods by me for years . It was like a data cable line . I called the company 8 times and 8 times they send somone out . They look at it to tell me its not power line and that they dont know how they could put it back up . Last time guy shows up . Says to me . That big line dont look to be going to anything. He cut it at each power pull and removed about 1500 foot of wire that has like 100 little phone wires in it . I like your videos !
Great drone shots.
This may be too late to comment on. The telephone cable came loose from the pole the clamp is next to the splice case and it goes on the bolt running through the pole. I am an retired AT&T lineman. That would be a sweet call out all you would need to do is put the clamp back on the bolt. But the real question is why did it come off in the first place.
happy thanksgiving to you and your family
Happy Thanksgiving Ryan, Jamie and all your families:)
It's always been my thought that the lowest lines on power poles were telephone lines.
Happy Thanksgiving. Great fall field time. Thank you
You are my favourit you tuber my wish is to meet you happy thanks given from ireland
that good samaratin guy omg if that would have been power lines =/!
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Hi I love your videos they are so cool and fun ... GOOD JOB !!! And #HowFarmsWork and good job for doing this videos for us ;)
For being a farmer it hard work long days and sort nights sometime my hat off to the farmers everywhere keep up the great work
Thank you for the video hope things work out. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Hope you have a great day
The Farming Life
I've ran 7Rs, 8Rs and 9Rs at night... I find turning off the lights on the cab next to the hood with the ones you turned off helps a lot with glare on the back window. Then on the back, only the lights up top since the lower ones shine back off the 3-point quick hitch if it's not lowered.
Cable lines, no big deal, always and I mean always pay as good attention as you can with anything over head on public road with farm equipment! Glad your ok!
Ya it gets the heart pumping doesn't it. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving.
Glad you are ok and no one else got hurt
Glad you are OK
I known combines have hit lines, l know a worker who was shifting auger and hit power line. He got blown off his feet and put in hospital, lucky he still has feet boots burnt off him. He now walking and lucky to be alive.
Hahahaha, damn I sure thought you were gonna kiss the camera there for a moment.
happy thanksgiving, to all of your family . sam
Happy thanksgiving ryan
Got some pretty fall colors up there!
Great video! Stuff happens...
You rock ryan
I took out A line of some sort 4:00 in the morning with my semi, it hit right below my visor. It had snowed wet snow about 2 inches that morning, trees and some power lines were quite low that morning.
Scary stuff.
Scary stuff. Glad you were ok.
Happy thanksgiving Ryan and Jamie family's very good video ryan and scary you got though it
He hated having to admit he knew where the saloon was. #secretsrevealed
Happy Thanksgiving! Pus Ryan your dog really cute!
Good thing you're young keeping those hours!
Be careful and stay safe bud we don't need any young farmers getting hurt. Interest in our profession is slowly dying in America
Beau Thoney luckily I want to be a farmer
Good thing you are ok!
Looks like that Deputy got there fast. You must of told them you had some Doughnuts with you. lol, Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, stay safe.
Great video albeit with unwanted wires. Have a great Thanksgiving whenever you get to it. Thanks....
Generally power lines are up high, although some swoop pretty low to reach into homes. You have a low risk of being electrocuted but as always treat every wire as if it's live and lethal.
Big fan of your video's happy thanksgiving
Well that was a heart stopper for sure
I'm glad to hear you're not in the red! Happy thanksgiving!
Usually power only gets pulled down by over the height limit semi's pulling a low boy with equipment way too high up or dump trucks with the bed still up. Power also gets pulled down when they snag telco or catv cables and the pole line has power up top. Just remember that using anything such as the guy did with the broom is not any guarantee of safety on an energized line regardless of which company owns it. Stay in the vehicle and wait for the pros if you get tangled. Never touch anything while being grounded that could even be just touching something energized like getting out and stepping down while touching tractor and ground at the same moment and the tractor is energized. Oh yes, also remember that a downed power line that appears not to be de-energized one second may be energized the next. Have seen some terrible accidents related to power down while working hurricane recovery over the years. Don't think any type of glove protects you unless they are rated for high power and tested and certified annually and you know how to use them (and also do a self test each time you use them). Be safe my friend.
Those look like low-voltage telecom lines. They usually pose no hazard, but it never hurts to be cautious when it comes to anything on a telephone pole.
Great video. Keep up the good work!
I knew a guy down in Janesville about 15 years ago or so that was running an auger on a seed truck and hit a power line with the auger. Went in through his hands and out through his feet. Blew him about 15 feet away from the the truck and burned his hands and feet. Luckily he survived.
Phone or power lines are scary! I fly gliders, and those things are pretty much invisible until you're just about to hit them when landing out in a field somewhere.
You are lucky that you didnt get out. In my country do we have a lot of tree nursery companys and lots of them load the trees with cranes build behind the tractor. Every year people die because they hit power lines with the cranes while they are loading..... Its so sad....
That is why i am glad that all our power and phone lines are under the ground stay safe!
Those are 50pair Reinforced telephone lines. I have seen those telephone wires rip out the anchor in brick and steel before they snap.
May you and your family have a happy thanksgiving. Had it been power lines you would have been ok man. the tiers of the tractor would have insulated you from a ground source , just dont' tuck any mettle stuff and call the cops the power company if it ever happens to you again (hopefully it wont) but its good to know what to do and not to do.
mike A
The tyres insulate up to a point, the danger comes when leaving the tractor so you're advised to stay in the cab unless it catches fire. If you need to leave then jump down from the tractor, then jump away plenty of distance. Don't walk or you risk putting a voltage differential across your legs.
Happy Thanksgiving Ryan
You break it you buy it lol
Bob Dixon Jr we had a garbage truck come in the farm and take out three major power lines and a pole and we are still trying to get it fixed through the insurance company.
The Farming Life i watched your video it’s unfortunate that has happened I’m a utility locator and I’ve seen this a lot.
Why? I think company that owns the line should keep it order ensure enough height from ground!
@@class185 why over the ground put it into the ground
Those are suppose to be over 13'6 off the ground for clearance.
Now that’s a thanksgiving morning
Crawl under the tractor and you'll see a little bolt holding a pin in the drawbar. Take that out and swap the drawbar between the 2 tractors. They should be the same size pin. Also on the graincart there is an insert where it hooks to the tractor. There should be another insert for the larger pin. If you don't have that insert don't just knock it out and use it like that. You'll hurt the ability to put the insert back to use the smaller pin. It's really not that hard to swap drawbars.
This too shall soon pass.Have had 2 experiences like that on Route 75 this year
Don't mess any football games up with the cable lines...LOL
Happy thanksgiving Ryan
I hit line across my windshield in my semi July 2016 at 65 mph across interstate. Scary and still duck under low wires.
I am glad you are O.K.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all farmers like me.
Glad ur ok
Happy thanksgiving ALL👍🏻
im very new to the interest of farming and i was wondering with the combine u were using for the beans do u use the same head on it for wheat or is there a special head just for beans?
@ 3:58... "I don't know what it is actually".... but let me take this broom and lift them of your tractor! SMH Granted comm lines are lower than power but if you "don't know".... don't touch! Glad everyone is ok and not another statistic.
I would've protested if I knew they were power lines, but by the time he came over and pushed them I had time to deduce that they weren't power lines.
Plus it had a fiberglass handle
farmall skittle
A fibreglass handle will make sod all difference when touching high voltage cables. Absolutely no difference. That's why anglers get fried if their rod touches a cable
My grandpa had that happen in one our white tractors but it was the power line
NEVER TOUCH DOWN UTILITY LINES! Even if your sure its phone or cable, they are still dangerous. Even a fiber optic line can hold a nasty static charge, which is why even fiber is supposed to be grounded. Rule No. 1 is: If you're not with the utility company, don't touch it. Even regular copper phone lines can give you a nasty surprise.
Flip phone? LOL
Damn that's crazy
Why don't you guys convert a barn to flat storage space for you boys? So you don't have to sell your crops at the cheapest time of the year again.
You were breathing pretty hard when you got stopped there. Glad you and everything is ok.
Have you guys considered purchasing a Semi and hopper bottom in the future.
Happy Thanksgiving to the entire family. What is the vent pipe coming out of the ground on the hill? You got Hobbits living there?
