Best option is to take away the bogus non-profit tax status from these universities and to tax their endowments as the asset management businesses that they really are. Then just allow them to behave like 1980s country clubs and give the billions in new taxes to the state flagships to reduce their tuition to near zero for in-state and very very low for out-of-state. International students should still have to pay a premium.
As some would say, have them pay their fair share?
If that was the end of it, some would go for it. But they would also lost federal funding. They can't afford that.
their demographics look about right and I would have expected. So far with highly selective schools, it seems like after the SC ruling there have been about the normal fluctuations with various demographics as before the ruling. Depending on the school some go up , some go down , some stay the same
Go back and watch Craig's earlier videos explaining why some fluctuate and some don't. There are reasons beyond "natural" flux as you seem to feel.
@@luimulder3768 I've seen the videos .. IMO the reasons tend to be mostly based on either what the school is looking for in a given year to fill a departmental major - be it CS or Art History ... and what types of students choose to apply to which schools in a given year ( The prestige and "cool factors" of schools often fluctuate with students on a year to year basis) I currently have two kids in college and know tons of others in college and have a good friend who's a college counselor. I can say for sure that in a given year certain schools among certain demographics become the "Hot" school to apply to. The only constant is that the students who get accepted to elite schools ( at least the non-legacy / non-big donor / big connections/ "rowing team, lacrosse, fencing equestrian ones ) tend to be holistically and academically top-tier. Pre and post-SC ruling .
The dust won't settle until tests are required.
@@cl10367 The dust has settled. There's no need for tests to be required.. Some schools require them, some don't. Both paths can admit great students able to academically excel
@@Goodguy1ful no selective college will be able to sustain test optional for very long and remain selective.
Most ivy require test scores this application season.
But we will see.
In all sincerity, good luck and best wishes to your daughter.
So if Im latino and Duke is a reach should I apply?
If you want to, go for it. Good luck!
Duke is overrated in college ranking.
It’s T20
