so they basically manage to fit a V12 engine that in a jeep that was designed around an inline 5 diesel engine. it's amazing that the engine did not rip the g-wagon apart.
Such a timeless SUV that is really in a league of its own~~ Nothing looks like it, and most importantly you feel like you can be in an apocalypse and be unscathed while driving this :D
Srsly, it's the most fun G wagon (terrible daily driver compared to the current 2019+ gen) But it's SO much fun It also has THE BIGGEST BOSS feeling over ANY car I've driven. Even the other G wagons, Knowing you're in a V12 G wagon with the most prestigious badge of all the G class models and the best sounding G wagon is incredible.
Thanks for the very informative vid👍 bought my very LOW mileage mint conditioned 2006 G55 in 2019. Its a very special feeling driving this square shaped boxy beast with monster torque and a beautiful yet raw V8 rumble😎😍
@AMGmeister - You haven’t mentioned anything about the late 90’s G55’s (m113 engine). These were sold as a G55 but were in fact a pre canbus G500 which had been altered by AMG and was the beginning of the partnership of Mercedes and AMG. Also, the idea of putting the name of the engine builder came about with this model and less than 400 units were built. These were also the only AMG G-Wagen which came with square exhaust tips and only on one side rather than both sides.
I’ve always felt like the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was DaimlerChrysler’s attempt at making a cheaper version of the G Wagon. It has a lot of things in common with the G Wagons. Solid front axle, three separate locks on the drivetrain in Rubicon trim (transfer case, rear axle, front axle), and just the overall boxie style.
@@CharBuilds the Daimler/Chrysler merger ended in 2009. Mercedes doesn't have any relationship with Chrysler, except that Chrysler still uses their E class platform (W210) for the Dodge Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300.
Older G Classes are a nightmare with RUST! They rust EVERYWHERE, but especially around the tail lights, under the front windshield, under the doors etcetera.
Definitely one of the automotive gems. I love the rugged feel of those doors.

Got to drive a g65 around the lot before parking it, thankful for that opportunity as it was the only one I’ve seen in my life
“Blob on wheels.” Love that!
G class is such a tank I Love my ML 55 Amg best engine ever built M113
Yeah the m113 is lovely
One of the most satisfying things on a W453 G Class is when you lock the doors it sounds like when you cock a gun.
Amazing and best review on a G Wagon please do more reviews on older models of g wagon probably like the 1988 230 g 4 cylinder endef engines
Donut also has a good overview of the G-wagon. Apparently, it was the shah of Iran that approached Mercedes to design these for his military..
god damn those s65 wheels in the last few sec looks so amazing ...
I love this channel

@@damilolaakanni thank you for responding to @Char Builds so I didn’t need to waste my time explaining that to him.
Jeep is Cheap Junk !

Can you make a buyers guide for w218 cls63 amg? or a comparison to an e63 amg?
Thanks AMG Meister!
“Pretty much all modern SUVs are all blob on wheels” 😂
Mate who owns these?? They have a beautiful collection.
Probably missed out the most special feature of a G, they are all hand built!
Now that is what you call crammed
The other two v12 suvs would the lm002 and the ML73 correct?
Audi Q7 6.0 V12 tdi
And the BRABUS GLK V12
More of a crossover really... but still
Isn’t this thing for sale rn???

Mate you haven't seen a landy rust it's all good on the surface.........
First
This probably would've been the most excessive "regular" car, if the nutjobs at Mercedes didn't one-up themselves and release the G650 Landaulet.
But it's a very heavy car and it is very thirsty
