As an ardent Tennis fan and a regular player, I prefer Tennis Elbow 4 and Full Ace Tennis Simulator. I always was a proponent of Full Ace Tennis Simulator, but of late, I have been diving into Tennis Elbow 4 and to me, I think Tennis Elbow 4 might actually be ever so slightly more realistic in terms of gameplay... compared to Full Ace Tennis Simulator. Also, Tennis Elbow has come out with the console releases, which also support mods. So, absolutely loving Tennis Elbow 4 on my Steam Deck.

Top spin has all the advantage with supreme game mechanics and physics but the devs needs to get a grip and stop with the skins and ridiculous courts. Give us new gameplay modes, players, challenges and new winning animations/videos! I mean, same video sequence if u win a ATP 250 or a grand slam!

I really like the gameplay but the career mode is woeful. I remember Top Spin 1’s career mode. You used to win tournaments and progress up the rankings which would allow you opportunities at sponsorship. Then you’d get bonus xp and money for wearing your sponsors clothing or using their racket. Why does a game that was released probably like 20 years ago, have a better career mode than the latest game in the franchise? I honestly got bored before I even won a GS.

@@brianlafev4261This is true for many sports games and this is because the online mode makes more money which is why the devs focus on it much more than career mode.

Great video! I’ve spent so much time on AO tennis due to the solid gameplay (most of the time) and the ability to have a large playing roster. I have been hesitant to pay premium price for topspin until they increase the playing roster. I also agree that there needs to be a balance of power in future titles and some more strategy behind strokes!!

Great video mate! it's cool that you keep our attention regularly on the Tiebreak current state and compare it with main opponent. Regarding BigAnt I think it would be a good idea to give a free weekend for players to try Tiebreak before release, like 2k did recently. This way they can attract more people to the title. 🙂

Topspin 2K is a basically remaster, even the devs said they brought over the mechanics from TS4. I feel like they started on the project no more than 1/2 years ago honestly, with the lack of promotion evident. It’s a good remaster but no more than that - a good base to start for the new gen consoles so hopefully they build off this and put some time and effort into the next one!

Nice video! Last week, we played 3 online Tiebreak matches together. Even though you won every one, I found the games MUCH more enjoyable than Topspin online matches. With the release coming soon, I am skeptical of how much this game improves despite it being loaded with potential (especially for online play). Dare I say, I hope EA buys out the game in a jealous need to make a better game than 2k, giving it a need budget boost to take it to the next level.

According to me, as a regular tennis player, TE is at tennis video games what ISS PRO EVOLUTION was at football video games on PlayStation. And to me the most important is to enjoy the game : I enjoyed ISS, I enjoyed PES on ps2, I enjoy TE and I don’t enjoy TS 2k25 at all ! In TS 2k25 you just have to serve deep on the side, wait for the return and then strike to the other side 🙄 And you repeat again and again and again : you never miss : that’s boring.
So my vote goes to TE and I don’t need TE to improve the graphics, it’s not important for me.

I think the same, Bigant was experimenting and learning with the previous games, the best for me was AO2 had a good base to keep improving, and I'm not going to lie to you, I didn't have faith in Tiebreak but my opinion changed radically, this time it seems that they want to make a serious tennis game, they are looking at the feedback and that's very promising. Today the PvP gameplay is very good, not so against the AI that must continue to improve it.
I tried the new topspin and I didn't like it at all and I didn't plan to buy it, but I tried it during the free weekend. The customization and monetization system seems to me an insult, 2k simply took advantage of the title and the nostalgia underestimating the players with a game worse than topspin 4.
Mention aside for TE3, TE4 (for me it still needs work) and Full Ace which are the best in terms of gameplay and world tour mode. Adding the mods they are excellent games with great possibilities.
In conclusion, right now I am playing a lot of Tiebreak and I see a great future for it if they keep improving it. Every shot matters, you have to make good decisions to continue with every shot.

The simulation gameplay from Tennis Elbow, proper graphics and animations, some realistic stamina malus that prevents you to make every perfect shot if you are skilled enough (like happens in tennis elbow), and a good career mode. Right now Tennis elbow is the best tennis game (still didn't tried the 4th one, but people suggesting that its early access state will give a huge improvement to Tennis Elbow 2013)

Top spin with its highs and downs is still the best tennis video game so far. Ball mechanics, the big number of game situation animations, different shots for different situations, the correct representation of the surfaces. For years So many tennis fans asked for the TS franchise to be back with few modifications and that is what we got. I know the career mode could be more accurate but I know the simplistic representation is part of TS since the very first release. We need a bigger roster and some balance in the shots for online matches and Tournament mode, nothing else.
On the other hand, Tiebreak has improved but is not even close to the TS gameplay in terms of Ball mechanics, AI, game smoothness and so on an so for. Career mode seems to be more realistic and player models look better, that is not enough though.

Nice summary! I've been 1000 hours into Full Ace, and I can say that, with the Mod, it is the closest experience to real tennis. Ball physics shine bright, and although there's no motion capture on players' movements, the gameplay feel makes you think that this is it. Feels good to hit a winner, to go for that pass with a deep top spin down the line...etc.
I am still waiting for something close to the animation here from goofypixel: ruclips.net/video/rOJU2kRrKl4/видео.html.

Topspin 2k25 is a baby step in the right direction after 13 years. We need someone to get offline mode perfected. I think a lot of problems are occurring trying to get online balancing right before we get the bare bones foundational stuff rock solid. 2k25 is a poor consolation prize but again, we're moving in the right direction, even if it is taking literal decades. NO Challenges! This is so silly. I'm still angry all the big real tourneys don't take human error out of the game. WHY would we place "fake" human error in a videogame? Always thought that is ridiculous. Do you want to feel like you're playing tennis or watching it on TV?

    • @machetegaming
      @machetegaming  Месяц назад

I want to feel like I am playing tennis in real competitions. And that currently involves human error on the judges side and challenge system.
Plus it adds another layer of game within a game. I like seeing how often I am actually wrong in my judgment in Full Ace for example.
But I do understand your line of thinking and why you wouldn't want that in Tennis games.
Easy solution: Games could just have an option to have challenges in matches or not, so that everyone is happy (at least in offline modes)

Matchpoint is dead, it's pretty long since they released an update so it's safe to say it's abandoned. As for Bigant, they're shit, everything they release is shit and I dont know how they're still active. Their best game so far is AO Tennis 2 and it's still pretty mediocre when compared to EA Grand Slam Tennis 2 (the most similar game in terms of visuals and gameplay). As for the rest, both Tennis World Tour and so far Tiebreak are only good for people who have been living in a cave all their lives and are now starting to discover videogames for the first time. Full Ace and Tennis Elbow 2013 are the only good tennis games rn, Tennis Elbow 4 is worse than TE 2013 and Top Spin 2K25 needs some extra cooking before I lay my hands on it. I'd rather see Sega reviving Virtua Tennis, at least those were fun because they were not seeking realism and the player knew it, they didn't expect much and that's 100 times better than calling your glitchy/unfinished game a simulator

You guys do realize that Tiebreak comes out in August right? There’s no fking way they could completely change the core gameplay and add all the animations for all players to make it decent, even with games like Manor Lords or The Forest in EA they don’t completely change the gameplay but only add a few features, this is what you’ll get hahahah, plus “on the level of early Ps4 titles”, I remind you that InFamous Second Son and AC Unity came out in 2014, graphics in videogames have been beyond beautiful and almost photorealistic for many years now, in a tennis videogame where it should be the last thing you judge it’s pretty good.
