- back in february, I signed myself up for a 10 day Vipassana silent meditation retreat. I had no idea what Vipassana meant, nor had I meditated for longer than fifteen minutes at a time. I meditated for up to 10 hours a day for 10 days straight without speaking. here's what happened...

time stamps in description box!! had to cut out sooo much footage, including talking about the actual meditation practice - we did both walking and sitting meditations in time increments. feel free to ask any questions; hope you enjoy xx
Ah, too bad about the cuts. I've most been wanting to hear about the actual meditation practice, in particular, to the extent that they were guided and if or how the process changed from Day 1 to Day 10. I'm trying replicate as much of this as I can at home until I'm free to attend one away. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hello mam are you asian?
I am so thankful for your video and how you describe it. Definitely this is how you see the world, and it was beautiful. When you said that you were happy the whole time but in a different way , it just gave me that strength and excitement that I needed. Thank you again.
Thank you ❤
This is the best video I could find on the topic. Cheers.
that's so interesting, thank you for sharing!
Thanks you very much for sharing your experiences. I am planning to do their 26 day retreat sometime this year and found your video valuable. Definitely keep going to more retreats🙏
Great video, I just did a similar thing and can relate to a lot of the things you said! I made a short 5 min video on my (trippy) experience too! Keep up the good work!
Thanking Yon ❤
Great video! Thank you
Thank you for making this video, really gave me a good idea of what to expect. I’m keen to attend one of these solent meditation retreats after all that’s happened in the past 3yrs. is it easy to get to from the airport? Thanks
Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you for sharing your experience! My friends have done Vipassana. I've done three separate 8-day silent mediation Samyama retreats with Sadhguru from Isha Foundation and had very profound meditative experiences.
Pa Auk Teachers have made major changes to the meditation system. What is wrong? What is correct? please look at Mistakes of Pa Auk Meditation.
Thanks for sharing Helen. It's great that you got to experience the 10 days of Vipassana. Are you able to continue with the practice?
yes, I am! I completed a 26 day one earlier this year, the video for which you can find here: ruclips.net/video/LGxeHeQMmXg/видео.html
Great Work🧘🤍
Hi Helen, thanks for sharing your insightful experience. I’m curious if at the end of the program, do you have to donate or feel pressured to do so?
you pay a ~300 baht fee at the beginning which is mandatory and at the end you're gently reminded to visit the donation office (I personally think that if you are able to give, you absolutely should -- the fact it's donation-based is so that it's accessible to everyone, including those who genuinely may not have any money). but you're not pressured (at least I never felt pressured)
คุณเก่งมากครับ ที่ทำได้จนครบ10วัน
No napping?? Hell no lol. I napped during all breaks, 6 hours of sleep a night is not enough for me 🤭
Sounds like heaven
Hello! I was just watching your portugal videos and am wanting to move there in december:) I’m wondering if you have any advice on how to find flat mates!
Hi Helen, would like to ask, do they allow us to put on skincare & sunscreen during vipassana? my screen gets dry & burn easily
hey, yes I think you’d be allowed!
Hey, thanks for the video. Do you know how we could book? and could we bring our luggages here to be stored during the 10 days?
How do they make sure you don't nap? 😄 Were people not nodding off during meditation?
haha, when I first started I was SO self-conscious I kept falling asleep until I realised it is *completely normal* and just happens. they don't try and stop it; it's all part of the experience. as for napping, they don't monitor you (I did accidentally fall asleep once on my bed during the middle of the day) but I guess it's just down to how strict you want to follow the rules. I was far stricter on myself during my 10 day one than my 26 day one (ruclips.net/video/LGxeHeQMmXg/видео.html)!
Are cushions aloud,or do you have to sit on your heels ? I can sit for a long time, but not on my heels. Thank you! 🙏🏻✨
Hi! Thank you for the insightful info! How much did you have to pay for this 10 day retreat? :)
They are free. Donation accepted
I am a Christian, is it possible to join the vipassana course as well? Can I not joining those Buddhist ceremonies if I’m not feeling comfortable with that? Thanks for your sharing!
Learnt from other youtuber that one is not required to chant any mantras. So peopel from any religion can join. It was some other center.
Any one can join regardless of which religion you belong to. You don't have be a Buddhist to practice vipassana.
Someone might need it ❤
I need it too but I can't afford it. This is my suggestion for IS
It’s free
@@calebmacvinci4884 Yes, it's free.. but to go from my place to that place, I need more motivation 🤣
If IS join & inform me, I will go. I really want to talk to someone and navigate towards a specific route now 😞 I don't dare to do anything alone by myself
But remember to ask someone to take care of your dogs. My professor has 6 dogs as he told me last time
This is an amazing video and I enjoyed every bit of it and am also excited to share my investment experience for 2021, I believe it will help a lot of people here that are confused on how to start the new year and be productive for the year
From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly, if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $505k in raw profits from just q4 of the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy. mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.
Wow!! this is super awesome. I'm willing to start saving properly or at least have a good investment. please tell me more about it. I'm an amateur investor, i have 2 IRAs, I do not like the cookie cutter responses from Fidelity, Vanguard Schwab, etc 7%-9% year on average, how do you invest?
My portfolio is very much diversified so it's not like i have a particular fund i invest in. plus i don't do that by myself. i follow the trades of KAREN GAYE GRAY. She is a popular broker you might have heard of. I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial adviser as her diversification skills are top notch/ I say because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis. unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along. my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.
By following trades do you mean copying her trades, as is done in etoro? Are you giving her your money or the money stays in your account? I have heard about copying trades but have not looked into it but i have an idea of what it is.
Yeah exactly. My money stays right in my account. It's all programmatic. plus it's relatively much easier to set up and connect my accounts than creating a financial pan and drafting investment strategies myself. my account just mirrors her trades in realtime
wow did you do Dhama talks in the evening?
no, we didn’t have any talks in the evening but the English-speaking monk would give mini ones every morning after morning chanting!
How did you apply for this? Can’t find this centre at the vipasanna dhamma page. Can see other locations in Thailand but can’t find the chiang Mai one.
I'm surprised how you didn't mention the difficulty, physical pain, etc
yeah, there was definitely physical pain which i brought up a lot in my meetings with the teacher!! it does go away though
What do you mean physical pain ? From all the sitting down and the basic bed ?
@@violahelen_ how was there physical pain? :)
The act of sitting up in the same position without changing position in one-hour blocks is fairly demanding -- give it a try. Then 10x/day. @@katemorley8147
I can't find this centre's name on the list of Vipassana centres given on the website
there are so many videos about a single 10-day vipassana retreat experience, this is all great, yet you have misunderstood the path to liberation opportunity. Vipassana introduces you into practical insight about the Eightfold Noble Path, Four Noble Truths, Impermanence of Psychological phenomena of human mind, technique for strenghtening & purifying Mind in order to get closer to "perceive things as they are" instead of as Mind would like them to be or imagine. All of this offers a new perspective & chance to come into a new art of living with an equanimous attitude & middle path. so keep going, keep growing, keep purifying, letting go, correcting, forgiving, simplifying, diving in, dissecting, understanding, loving yourself & developing hinesty & compassion which will be the great gift for yourselves & others 💜
are the rooms and toilets clean?
yes, very! and you're expected to spend time each day cleaning too
Is this vipassana meditation same as the SN Goenka type of vipassana meditation??
I am pretty sure they are same
it's similar but from my understanding of Goenka, the entire environment, daily routine and way it is structured is completely different from my experience. in my temple, we were literally living with monks.
Mind fulling video. Meditation is the backbone of Humanlife.
Meditation pace for physical, mind, and everything else.
Meditation keeps control our physical system.
So, i request to everyone try to meditation.
10 day vipassana is so beautiful for control our mentality. Vipassana keep our Happy & jank free life.
Shadu,shadu, shadu.
I'm Buddhist monk from Bangladesh. And i try to Many Dhamma video uploading youtube. #RUclipsbd
NO EYE CONTACT ACCORDING TO JARED LETO
She mentioned that. That's the standard practice.
Why would you have fizzy drinks anyways?
Went to a yoga retreat, silence for three months. Was easy, so used to going for weeks not taking to my wife, LoL
amen brother
