Man, as those tubes warmed up, so did something inside of me

bro wtf
Me too I love tubes
So it this made to order or a limited run ?

Yes pls
sounds like "Dune 2" on sega
Yes. Please. That sound is amazing.
at least an instrumental one. or both. that would be lit!!
What we expected in 2020: HoloTV, Cyborgs
What we get: Duphonic Valve synthesisers
Not even mad, this is awesome.
cyborgs are a thing and tv is still a thing too?
Sister Rose in 2040 we'll get a steam mechanical synthesizer.
@@imortalones HoloTV = Hologram TV
@@shadowflash705 -- Thanks for the suggestion. Was looking for a new project to start up around October. Was thinking it could be switchable between steam and waterwheel power. Maybe treadmill too in case one is looking to trim one's waistline whilst making tunes.
Sister Rose we have both of those though
Am I the only one who thinks this thing would make absolutely insane DnB synth sounds?
Jup, sick for neurofunk etc!!!
That is it man
yeah boi
Thank you for such a cool video and your work from all the Eternal Engine EMI staff.
Вы тоже офигенные молодцы, ребят.
Ребят, что так дорого то?
Will you guys do a modular version next? Just kidding, i can't even afford this model :-(
On a more serious note, I was a bit disappointed that you didn't use a "Magic Eye" valve for the VU meter, but perhaps the next version?
That thing is legendary. It's going to be worth a fortune in 20 years.
Especially now that he has a prototype $$$$🤑🤑🤑🤑
It costs a fortune already!

Tubes won't work in 20 years lol. You will need new ones if you can get them.... love the sound though.
This makes an MS20 sound tame in comparison. That filter screams something beautiful
Its pure feral!
When the emphasis went past 6, I never knew that kind of resonance was possible!
I'm definitely gonna have to try this on a Pro 3. It's not quite as dirty as the valve synth, but it's still really good at overdrive/distortion/feedback and has wider sweet spots before it goes into full-on noise territory.
The duophonic mode in particular is something I want to try, because I love the interference patterns which happen when using heavy distortion on more than one simultaneous note. That was the basis for the last song I uploaded, and I want to do it more.
4:52 - 8:03 bangs hard. What a sound from that machine.
2 years later I still come back to listen to that bit.
@@DonnyDealer One of my favorite things Sam has ever done.
Anyone else keep coming back to listen to the music at 4:45 and up
Like an MS-20 on steroids, which is crazy because the MS-20 is already on steroids.
@Alex Ball I compare my MS-20 to a heavy metal singer who has a heroin and cocaine addiction combined with being an alcoholic, womanizer and a foul mouth.
Love your synth docs
Octavian thanks for making me aware this guy makes synth docs! Subbed
I have the iMS-20 on the ipad... 30 bucks but i love that thing... Awesome you guys got the real thing. How much did it cost you?... Anf where the hell did you fimd it lol... Its not like they have those in my local Guitar Center lol

We Russians always play on such valve synthesizers here in Siberia, sitting in our tanks.
😁
Eating the occasional elk sandwich...
Sounds cool. Love to get away to the wolderness of siberia to make some good music with synthesizers. Btw what was that abt sitting in tanks?
Damn, I need to move to Siberia apparently!
Here I am, sitting at a DIY desk made out of random scraps of wood, with nothing but digital synths to play with.
And ,obviously, bears stop to drink vodka and come to dance, when they hear magic sounds of this synth

“Attack,” “Decay,” “Release,” etc., have become universal. The Arturia synths don’t have French labels, either.
4:45 - 5:08 SOUNDS SO COOL
"in soviet russia, synth overdrive you"
so now I've got to dig out my prototype metasonix phattytron & see if it sounds as good as this.
3:33 I love this filter sounds of this synth. This part I really like. This is easily one of my top favorite synths I've heard.
That thing is capable of some truly unholy noise... I love it.
I am literally stunned. That sound!!! I want one but a bit out of my price range. Maybe another project for you - how to build a synth with tubes that sounds like its tearing the fabric of space-time. :-)
Such a raunchy, gritty sound. Love that Daft Punk-ish "Da Funk" sound at 7:13. Tubes, baybee!
Jeez! It sounds good. So organic and rich.
You’re putting out some serious beats at around 6:00
Need a full track
Ridiculously good.
Yes to all of this. @lookmumnocomputer
Seriously amazing

This synth sounds like government oppression!
Dirty as hell, I want one!
It sounds like the velvet revolution more like
I prefer the sound of Liberation.
All these random noises spark old memories, First one was Paradroid on Commodre 64, and the second one was Uncle Traveling Matt from The Tv Show Fragle Rock.. Cool!

Now I want a LMNC cover of _All Around The World_.
Paradroid... that takes me waaaay back to my misspent youth
I'm 100% sure this thing just has a bunch of Stalker artifacts inside it. Fucking incredible sound.
Oh my. The jam from 5:00 onwards was pretty damn good.
"This is so much a prototype that apparently the back of it is from a Russian cupboard."
Slavic Science.
It's perfectly fine recycling ^^
It's meant to be played while squatting as well.
@@ChrisLeeW00 That squat best be flat footed.
In Soviet Russia, cupboard drive you!
The back looks exactly like valve radios and TVs used to, back in the day.
Is it just me or does this thing sound fricking amazing
Deffo not just you.
That overdriven distortion! - my old friend who loves guitar tube amps would approve!
It has a unique complex sound, truly lovely!
Wow! It reminds me a lot of the EMS Sythi 100 used in the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in the early 1970's. Affectionatly known as the "Delaware" That was mostly valve driven! Awsome piece of kit!

this is the best synth i've ever heard, the sound of that filter is so good
Such an amazing sound, I’ve watched this video 10 times already as I can’t get enough of it.
Jesus, what must this sound like BEFORE the RUclips compression??
It probably sounds like how this scene probably smells ruclips.net/video/0YtlHURJkWY/видео.html
It sounds like vodka

Sounds like every other shitty synth out there IMO. Pretty easy to make distorted wave forms with lots of envelope noise
That is one of the nastiest filter screams I've ever heard in my life. Loved the polyphonic mode. Where do the tubes play a role, at every stage?
Every stage of the audio path
The sound starts valve and comes out. There is a digital controller for the midi and I think the envelope generator is analog but I think the LFO is digital I could be wrong however
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER Cool stuff. Valves can give a synth so much character, anything to be honest. If your museum ever opens and I'm in the area I will come check it out!
@@lackofmotivation5972 its definitely openning! however how and what is still up for debate :)
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER As long as it has all the crazy stuff you made so far I'm in.

Man I have listened the part with the reverb like 20 times! Absolutely fucking amazing!
Jesus dude, when you bring in the reverb at 7:52. Absolutely ace.
Mindblowing.
Sounds cool and powerful! Glad to know that you're placing it into your Museum! :)
Such a museum is a great idea overall!
not only does this sound absolutely amazing, but that song/jam you played Sam was dope. really awesome stuff
4:46 - 4:54 sound like something Lorn would cook up.
Thought this sounded absolutely incredible, 'It can't cost THAT much though, right?' so I went and looked at the price...dear god.
Thanks for saving me some time =(
and greater disappointment...
for a tube synth its not overpriced,
the components cost a lot
enormous amount of devloppement
time to hand build that etc etc
not my budget but definitly its woth the price
not like the new volca ok its "cheap" but the sound is really cheap too ...
I did the same. Maybe our man will start a build-your-own project.
Yeah lovely really
After reading up on the Novachord I've always wanted to try a valve synth: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novachord
The novachord was the first polyphonic synth, made by Hammond in the late 30's and early 40's. It has 163~ tubes and weighs around 500 pounds.
Yeah awesome machine! The gearing on the knobs too!
Dude, valve synths are like a dream to someone like me LOL

hows things going with all those al jarreau records you're slingin? got any earl klugh?
Super great sounds from overdriving those tubes!!! this thing really blew my mind. I want more valve driven synths!!!!
Edit: so happy you kept the drive pretty cranked for most of the demo. What a sound!
Wow this synth sounds so cool, and the beats you made in this demo are amazing !
Oh man they should have used a "Magic Eye" valve for the VU meter ;) Other than that, AWESOME machine!
Yeah that would be cool!
Might have to send them one, not sure if the Soviets ever had those tubes...
@@lander1591 Of course we had, many Soviet radios in the 50's and 60's used these. Still plenty of NOS left, e.g. 6E5S and 6E1P types.
That crumbly distorted bass really reminds me of some of Mr. Oizo's early stuff.
Yes yes!
Wow 🤩 it sounds so beautifully rough and gnarly! Yeah I can see this sound fitting into my studio! Love the demo 🙏🏻
great sounding piece of kit! thanks for sharing!
The filter and VCA sound excellent and it's got a lot of control all for just 1/10 the price of a Knifonium, but I'm really not sold on the idea of stabilized thyratron oscillators. For me, the best part of a thyratron oscillator's sound is their inherent subtle pitch instability, which gives their output a slightly jittery, almost brassy sound.
While stabilization makes it much easier to keep in tune and therefore makes MIDI implementation more feasible, it ends up ironing out my favorite quality.
Cool jam, though.
the only other way i know to sync thyratron to midi is a midi to relay and i think its add lot of delay :/
Russians sure CAN make a quality hardware.

All the best from Australia :)
This sounds absolutely amazing!
Absolutely gorgeous.
Man, those sounds are so phat, they made me unbuckle my belt.
unbuckle your wallet, you silly.
I'm quite sure this machine will be used in a terrifying space war.
OMG I was just drooling over that thing the other day. What a coincidence. I am so jealous!
Sounds freaking amazing.
I know it's hard to tell a lot of the time through RUclips's compression, but holy shit, when that started up, the sound is AWESOME. I honestly thought that it would be a bit gimmicky, but that sound is fucking amazing. Got a fair few analogue synths but this blows many of them away with that sound.
Me: I like everything, but that "emphasis" knob is really disturbing when it's past 6.
You: emphasis on 7 for most of the video :)
That's the best vut

That is an excellent box. There is really something to be said about "valve" synthesis, I loved when you first turned it on and exposed both oscillators, the sweetness of their pure sound was appreciated. So much action in such a small container. And it looks impressive, show wise.

Welp I'm here...and I'm glad..
This thing is so freaking wild :D
what a fantastic piece of equipment stoked to see more of it !
Probably the best and most unique sounding synths I’ve ever heard
I've been suggesting for a while to Korg that they make an analogue synth out of their nuTube things.. we finally got the nuBass volca, but I hope they go a bit further really. We had the Knifonium before which was another (expensive) valve mono.. if anyone's going to make a valve poly synth then Korg using nuTubes seems a prime candidate really!
the new volca is cheap crap; just add one tube for marketing
this russian synth is a masterpiece !
I'm 90% sure the case used to be a bread box :)
Very glad to hear this beauty! Thanks.
Some great sounds coming out of that. Great stuff 👍
The filter resonance distortion is almost SCARY. The Polivoks sounds mild (!) in comparison.

I must have watched this close to 100 times. This is by far the coolest analog sound I've heard.

That synth is siiiiiiiiiiick! How much?? 👍👍
Edit: $1899USD
Ouch
I dare say not that that terrible for a hand built bespoke machine that uses valves. It's out of my budget, but I think it's not that absurd for what it is and does.
