      I'm definitely gonna have to try this on a Pro 3. It's not quite as dirty as the valve synth, but it's still really good at overdrive/distortion/feedback and has wider sweet spots before it goes into full-on noise territory.
      The duophonic mode in particular is something I want to try, because I love the interference patterns which happen when using heavy distortion on more than one simultaneous note. That was the basis for the last song I uploaded, and I want to do it more.

    The filter and VCA sound excellent and it's got a lot of control all for just 1/10 the price of a Knifonium, but I'm really not sold on the idea of stabilized thyratron oscillators. For me, the best part of a thyratron oscillator's sound is their inherent subtle pitch instability, which gives their output a slightly jittery, almost brassy sound.
    While stabilization makes it much easier to keep in tune and therefore makes MIDI implementation more feasible, it ends up ironing out my favorite quality.
    Cool jam, though.

    I've been suggesting for a while to Korg that they make an analogue synth out of their nuTube things.. we finally got the nuBass volca, but I hope they go a bit further really. We had the Knifonium before which was another (expensive) valve mono.. if anyone's going to make a valve poly synth then Korg using nuTubes seems a prime candidate really!

    I started building myself some valve synth stuff a few years ago from designs I found online, managed to get the thyratron vco kinda working and got a couple of modulators working perfectly. The 6ar8 balanced modulator is probably my favorite of them, stereo output and produces some incredibly wet farty sounds among other things. Really should get back to messing around with it again at some point

    • @Hito--chan
      @Hito--chan 4 года назад

      The 6ar8 valve acts as both a vca and deflects the signal between two seperate outputs, you can control how much the two seperate deflection plates move the signal beam individually and the version I made used an ordinary double triode valve as an lfo to control the speed of the deflection. It was based on the right half of this circuit: www.synthpanel.com/tube/ts21.html
