btw since I'm not really well versed in honkai impact 3rd lore, i will patiently await any comments that possibly dive into the references and connections so i can learn more about them
seeing honkai star rail cook these amazing videos makes me at least want to understand the surface level meaning behind it
the 12 sentinels are basically the 12 herrschers in honkai impact, with the same elements and abilities, and the end mentioned origin and finality which connects to Hi3 herrscher of origin and finality
The whole story of Izumo is sort of a paralel to what happens Hi3. So, the blades are a reference to the 12 herrschers (they are sort of godlike beings) in Hi3, plus the blade of Origin and blade of the End which are also herrschers. In Hi3, at the end of the story Mei becomes the herrscher of Origin and Kiana the herrscher of Finality (End) and they save the world. this trailer is like what happened if they didnt succed sorta.

The blades refer to HI3rd herrschers. Spoilers for everyone who didnt get the HI3rd references:
There are 14 god-like beings in HI3rd called herrschers each with control over a concept, each meant as an agent of the honkai to destroy humanity, but after a certain special event, some ended up defecting and helping humanity instead. The swords' names and abilities here refer to them and their concepts/ authorities:
Truth = herrscher of reason/ Truth (Welt Joyce and Welt Yang [reason], Bronya Zaychik [truth])
Sky = Herrscher of the Void (sirin/ Kiana Kaslana)
Howling = Herrscher of Thunder (raiden mei)

@@CreativeMode-pk3uu in the end Acheron attacks IX, a black hole, Aeon of Nihility, which lied to them. And it turns her into it's Emanator. Because everyone who survives contact with IX either die or turn into Emanator of Nihility.

I think these were just references, i dont think theyll play that big of a role in the story given her world was swallowed up by Ix or sth? Im just hoping this paves the way for future HI3rd stuff in HSR and i am really hoping we eventually get the original trio from HI3rd in, like the actual characters and not just expys, like the express finds earth or sth.

That black hole represents The Nihility, IX. She said “We long since strode into THEIR shadow“
HSR only ever highlights “their” when it is used to represent an aeon. So it is used as “THEIR” if it represents an aeon. For example people often say “He/she drew THEIR gaze” to represent a person who drew an aeon’s gaze.

Is not a black hole , it is Takamagahara , the planet, like the name of the video, she cut the planet of the kamis and both planet Imploded. From the beginning they were under the shadow of Nihility, not literally, but under the path because everything there is meaningless the entire war and the entire population death. You can see the cleave on the pleanet , and small flowers come out from it before the implosion

The fact that there's SOOO many Honkai Impact references in the animation is just amazing. Here's a list of references I think the HSR team made for this animation!
From the same JP and CN VAs for Acheron and the 'Shiraga Oni' from Honkai Impact, to the blatant references to the 12 Herrschers... even 'Origin' and 'End' directly references Herrscher of Origin (Mei) and Herrscher of The End/Finality from the HI3 series.
Blade of Truth (Truth/Reason), Blade of Sky (Void), Blade of Howl (Thunder), Blade of Mist (Wind/Desire), Blade of Frost (Ice/Rimestar), Blade of Fate (Rebirth), Blade of Flare (Flame/Flamescion), Blade of Thought (Sentience), Blade of Root (Rock/Star), Blade of Form (Dominance), Blade of Bind (Binding), Blade of Maw (Corruption)
Acheron also had the same horns as Herrscher of Thunder, with Acheron even wielding a blade similar to Key of Thunder which is HoT's sig weapon. When Acheron broke her blade and made it grow back while transforming, it was a direct reference to Hokushin Mei from GGZ, who had the very same thing happen to her.
The frost blade scene is completely a reference to Yae Sakura in the Previous Era of the HI3 timeline, since Sakura herself wielded a frost blade and because of the pretty evident cherry blossom tree in the background. This hints that there will indeed be a Yae EXPY in Star Rail, or at least mentions of her.
I think it's obvious, but I've seen all Raiden EXPYS/Variants in a scene of rain, adding Acheron to the lot now. Would also like to note that between 1:28-1:30 of the animation, it seems to have the first notes of 'Nightglow' from one of HI3's animations. While from 3:07-3:16 the music playing between those few seconds are notes from "Honkai World Diva", an OST made for Mei in both Honkai Impact and Gun GirlZ.
Might be a stretch, but the fallen version of Izumo also looks like Nagazora after the Honkai corruption in HI3, while there also might be references to Ei's Plane of Euthymia from Genshin, notably the fallen shrine gates scattered everywhere.
Honkai series lovers so as myself are truly in for a treat with this animation!
The Twelve Blades are references to the Herrchers/Divine Keys from HI3, they are even in the same order.
From what I gather, this story is more or less the bad end of HI3.
The blades were forged into 12, the 12 broke and were forged into two. Origin and End, which were then pitted against each other because only one could save the world.
Acheron won, but Origin and End were both shattered, forming into Naught.
Ultimately it was all for nothing, because it was mutually assured destruction and then IX shadow appeared and erased everything. AKA, it was All for Naught/Nothing.
The end was Acheron swinging at IX with Naught as a last stand before everything just ended and was turned into nothing.
In contrast, in HI3 Origin and Finality (end) were cooperative and were able to find a way to transcend Finality and prevent the bad end.

you could even argue that in hi3 terms Acheron would probably be the Herrcher of nothing/naught so i guess Emanators are infact Herrcher counterparts
It wasn't actually as cooperative - there were two opposing plans to save the world, one was a surefire absolutist way but would effectively kill all humans only to bring to life a new breed of humanity, and the other was one much less certain method but would protect the people of the world.
In Honkai Impact 3, the power of End (Finality) was stolen from the absolutist side that was willing to sacrifice everything, strengthening the side that wished to save everyone.
With both Origin and End on the saviour's side, the uncertain plan became much stronger, and the militant "kill everyone" side gladly was defeated to give way to hope.
The rest of the analysis is right, though.
In Acheron's past, it looks like this theft did not happen. Elysia likely never existed here, and perhaps Kiana never did either.
Leading to a tragedy of being victorious in war, but with nothing left to save...
Fun fact: They translated the herscherr of thunder-equivalent blade as "Mei" in JP 😭 (8:08)

So we at last see two worlds that fell to the Honkai.
First, Takamagahara. Then Izumo. While there's no description of what happened to the former, Izumo seems to have gone through the Honkai Eruptions in the same order as Earth did in HI3rd. Like the Previous Era of Earth, they fought Herrscher-like entities, defeated them, and, just like the people of the PE, forged their cores into tools to fight back-in this case Swords called 'Sentinels'. And the trailer implies that the woman now known as Acheron, like Mei, wielded the third Sentinel, "Howl", forged from the core of the defeated Almighty Thunder. But just like the Previous Era, although they triumphed for a time, they eventually lost.
Unlike the Previous Era, however, they had no Elysia to change the nature of Herrschers. No Flamechasers to keep the hope of tomorrow alive. No Otto to guide events towards victory. No Kiana to inherit the Authority of Finality.
So, in desperation, they forged their own versions of Origin and End from the remains of the Sentinels, and like Mei, Acheron was chosen to carry Origin. But then, when even that was not enough, Acheron took it one step further. To "Naught". Null. Nothingness. Nihility. The Shadow of IX was cast upon the world.
And her first act as a Self-Annihilator was to cut two worlds out of existence, putting an end to the conflict. Not that there was anything left to save.
My take away is that in Star Rail, this person we see here is named 'The Maiden' per the description. Thus a version of Raiden, but most definitely not her.
She came from a planet named Izumo, who shares a realm called Takamagahara. Where the gods, the Kamigami resided and caused grief for the humans like any tales of old involving them.
Izumon in retaliation forged the 12 Sentinel blades and fought back. With each victory slowly bringing prosperity to the people of Izumo. At some point however, I believe that in their drive to fight back, they overextended and shattered Takamagahara.
In doing so, Izumo began to fall apart and the people began to descend into despair and madness as they were undergoing their apocalypse. Whether by the Kamigami machinations or infighting. This inadvertently drew IX's attention which only made things worse just by it looking. In a desperate bid to possibly save Izumo, the Maiden destroyed the End and distill everything that was her and her world into the blade to strike at IX.
This, like her path was for 'Naught' as IX was an aeon. A being so far above them that it wasnt even funny. She, still the Maiden then, briefly touched IX. In turn and not of her volition gained the power and status as an emanator of IX.
This caused her to lose everything she was before right down to even her name, leading to the eventual formation of who we see now as Acheron.
thats interesting. though i would like to add that the black sun has always been there. my implication was that her planet was consume a long time ago. making their planet was under IX regardless of he does anything or not. IX presence alone made the planet made them doing an Endless and pointless cycle for a lie of a better tomorrow which align with IX believe nothing in this world has any purpose. the last blade(Life) forge was naught which also align with IX believe seeing anything in the world as worthless.
I think Takamagahara was a close planet that was destroyed by honkai then the honkai come to Izumo

Fun fact: IX is fascinated by his followers that acknowledge the Nihility yet still try to go against him.
That's why even though Acheron accepted the 'truth', she still attacked IX despite knowing it as a futile attempt.
In result: she became an Emanator of Nihility

Izumo and Takagami were two twin planets orbiting a black hole (that might have been the aeon nihility, IX in some form). As the black hole grew the kami (honkai like things) took over Takagami and made their way to Izumo. The planet of Izumo put together the 12 sentinels, and Acheron likely used one of them (being a mei expy, probably Howl) but eventually they couldn’t hold them back and everyone died/was overtaken, becoming “end” (representing the antagonist of Hi3, Kevin) with Acheron being Origin to slay it. When she did, she realized she was all alone and nobody had won but the black hole swallowing them all after lying that there was a possibility to win over the kami without losing everything so she turned to nihility, becoming a emanator (when her hair turned white) and slashing into the black hole to swallow the ruins of both planets.
The 2 Worlds Takamahagara and Izumo.... were all sucked into a certain black hole. Yep IX. As if there's now Izumo or Takamahagara in the first place.

In the 2.1 livestream there was a picture that showcased Acheron's horns and they mentioned that they are different than Raiden Mei.
It's funny because the orchestral track in the back is indeed from Raiden Mei's debute.
i think they might mean how acheron isnt hi3 mei but is definetly a version of mei, more like mei which didnt have a kiana (guessing here), which is why her lore is mirrored with so much hi3 lore

There’s a long lore text in the video description, every sword explained.
How I see it (without HI3 lore knowledge):
They forged 12 blades to save their world in a fight between humans, Oni and gods. All with their own superpowers. Probably wielded by 12 heroes. Optimistic in their strength. After a hard victory the swords were broken because they were too powerful to be.
But the world was not saved for good. Two new swords were made, Origin and End. Desperately trying to save the last remaining piece of the world, even their own origin was sacrificed to win.
And all those sacrifices and fighting was for nothing. Maybe there was an actual black hole that swallowed the planets. Maybe it’s symbolic. But fighting amongst themselves was just an act of futility. All the world, its lands and cultures were wiped away. What remains after all that fighting is Nothingness, cold emptiness of Nihility that erodes who you are. Meaningless.
It didn't click until I heard the JP. The co-narrator is a certain antagonist from HI3. It makes sense now with the greatsword. I'm curious to see what more will be revealed. And what the connection to IX is.
So basically honkai(kami) was used to forge weapons to kill and fight honkai(kami). Using those weapons caused corruption (oni-fication). Mei was always in tune with honkai powers thus she started to accend to divinity , she is a being that exist backwards in time now, reaching kami

So I suppose the cocoon of finality and honkai has come to izumo but their was already the influence of an aeon that was also putting their world into danger.
They probably think that if they control the kami (honkai) they would have a chance to save their world from IX influence.

Im guessing this is based more on previous era, with kevin, the male voice, keeping the finality edict and in the end Mei might have combined finality origin and maybe thunder into naught, before attacking IX, removing Izumo from existence in its entirety

So from my understanding, the last when she swung Naught, the whole history, life, n everything of Izumo got swept into the blackhole. Then the screen turned to white, indicating nothing was left, along w her lines abt how the world is fleeting. Maybe after the Origin n the End, Naught was born, giving birth to nothingness
Takamagahara is a name of a planet, which was taken by Honkai, Kamigami, and it sent it's gods to attack another planet, Izumo. Izumo forged 12 Sentinels, Divine Keys, basically from corpses of these gods, it's how it was done in HI3. Sentinels were forged in same order as herrschers appeared in HI3. If you lose to Kamigami, you will turn into oni, basically become zombie, and Acheron has horns here, which is sign of being an oni.

Both jp and cn dub is kebin voice from hi3 so i was panicking when i watch this vid from the first time😂
This story is an HI3rd Parallel where Kiana is not saved; this is emphasized by Mei falling alone, as Kiana did not catch her. The events proceed parallel to HI3rd but without the hero Kiana, and the herrschers still become consolidated into Origin and Finality. The battle still takes place against Kevin (the male VA), but without Kiana, the Honkai Apocalypse is not staved off. Mei consolidates Origin and Finality once more, and becomes/wields "Naught, the Final Blade of Izumo". She then uses the power of Naught, nothingness, etc, to then cleave Izumo in two halves; ultimately defeating the Honkai there, but at the sacrifice of the planet. That divide creates a black hole, which may or may not be IX the Aeon of Nihility.
Whether or not she created IX, and the presence of Herrscher's in the HSR timeline, all create questions for the Cosmology both of HSR and the Hoyoverse. Like for example, if Acheron/Mei was the Herrscher/equivalent of Origin here, like she was in HI3rd, but we address Acheron as an Emanator in HSR, then are all Emanators essentially Herrschers? and if an Emanator/Herrscher created IX, and Aeon, but Emanators follow Aeons, the hierarchy is confusing or cyclical. Like as if Gods have a 'clap your hands if you believe' mechanic, and can only exist if people have faith in their concept in the first place.
Lets just say that the 12 sentinels are considered in the HI3rd Universe as Herrschers and these 12 swords contained the power of the sentinels they managed to kill but regardless of how many victories they managed to won in the End it is a war that already has predetermined path and is the END

So Honkai lore aside I think the story portayed is that Izumo (a planet or maybe a god) is in a war with Takamahagara (either another planet or some sort of underworld) with Izumo residence as human fight against oni from Takamahagara. Izumo created the 12 swords and they defeated the oni. But the swords got destroyed? And the oni invaded again and finally as a last stand Izumo created Origin for yhe humans and the Oni somehow has End? Finally both breaks as Acheron being the sole survivor and gain the blessing of IX before the two planets is swallowed whole.

From what I understand from this trailer, Acheron participated in a war between two "twin" planets and it cost the lives of every living being on those planets, only for Acheron to realize in the end that everything was useless because the two planets were orbiting the event horizon. from a black hole (which is actually an Aeon, IX) and using the remains of the sword "Origin" and probably her life force she forged another sword ("Life") and tried to face Nihility.

The first planet face the kami(the honkai) a destructive energy that bring end to world.
After erased the civilization of the first planet, the honkai came into the second planet, the home of Acheron to do the same and it probably achieve it cause Acheron seems to be the only survivor but in the end she understand that her planet will inevitably drift into this black hole and that all her fight against honkai were in vain.
Also Honkai and the black hole are two different threats.
Honkai is an energy that come from the imaginary energy and the black hole is probably from the aeon IX.
Herrscher of reason, Herrscher of void, Herrscher of thunder, Herrscher of wind, Herrscher of ice, Herrscher of rebirth/death/life, Herrscher of fire, Herrscher of sentience, Herrscher of earth/stars, Herrscher of domination, Herrscher of binding, Herrscher of corruption And then Herrscher of Origin and Herrscher of finality/end, and there has never been a Herrscher of naught this is a if story of humanity failing and being destroyed
