Glad I’m not the only one who has intense moments of awareness of how weird everything is. Somehow I find this feeling meditative though, like when I look at the moon and let my mind fall into a rabbit hole about space and our existence, I get such a weird feeling of safety and gratitude or being alive? Idk how to explain it
Asking difficult questions is the only way we can ever find meaningful answers. I asked all the questions and found none of the answers. I found no meaning, but I found beauty and happiness.
I really hope you read this, I went through a high Emotional Existential crisis last year for months and your videos on stoicism really helped me clear my mind and realize that I don't have to hold on to those thoughts, I'm going to leave this video before I get into another Existential crisis
I fell in love with your thoughts boi, I always wonder if I can meet someone like you irl and have deep convos about life the same exact thoughts "Does it matter doing all the good in the end we perish" because I keep thinking the same way, my start for reading books also started with your channel, I would love to meet you someday even if I have to pay!
I've always wanted to meet people like him irl too. But what if everyone is like this and we just dont know how to reach them or let them open up because too often we hide this part of ourselves to be devoid of pain and shame from ourself and others
this entire video is all the questions I think about all the time and then if I say them out loud people are all like "okay, that was weird" so I'm glad I am not alone. also I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS VIDEO STYLE😍
Same here. I sometimes think that most people think about this from time to time but are afraid of talking about it until someone makes them feel confident enough to start the conversation
@@Chuyinil sometimes i even pretended to think like they think so that they didn't "judge" or make fun of me But enough of that, there's no need to be afraid of being me, if those people judge me i probably shouldn't be even with them
You need more subs, really really great work man!!! This video reminded me of TV series The Leftovers (for me best tv shows i have ever watched). The same questions about life and death, grief, purpose, religion, love, hope and beliefs: "Am I a good person" , " What next ", "Why"...
The kind of "answer" I found for myself to these questions (although it´s not really satisfying at all)...: humans tend to want an explanation for everything...it´s in our nature to seek to understand the world... yet, there is so much left unknown... so, the purpose of life (for me) is life itself... to experience every facette that comes with being human... to feel and live through all the emotions (positive, as well as negative)... and if that answer doesn´t satisfy me in some moments, I just think about the nature and the beauty of it all... the way the sun shines, the wind feels on the face, the light shining through trees, the changing of seasons and all the complexity of nature... a tree probably wouldn´t ask itself why it´s there... what´s it purpose is... the purpose is: to just BE :) maybe this helps someone... :)
i share the same viewpoint! it can also relieve a lot of pressure and anxiety when you believe that just "existing" (even if you're not doing anything productive) is a beautiful thing as well
I've never heard anything from anyone that satisfies me, however, I love what you're saying that in those moments just focus on the simple beautiful things around you. Reading that is actually super helpful. Thanks for sharing that
Yes, it’s just being. That’s it. We don’t have to add meaning to anything. We would do it automatically as humans, adding definitions to objects and meaning to experiences in our lives. But our meaning of what that girl did to you 7 years ago just gives you a false sense of who you are as a person from the story we made up.
17 years old, nearing the next step in life and I couldn't relate more. I'd bombard myself with questions like "Why is life moving so fast", "Am I a narcissist" and more last month. Enough is enough, because the little amount of life we do have shouldn't be wasted worrying. Finally, I feel just a little bit free. Finally.
Very interesting mate, only 17 and pondering like this, you're on a useful line of thought here. Being conscious of possible outcomes is useful, but physically ill type worrying cannot serve you. I'm 34 now, man oh man I feel I've lived and learnt so much since I was 17. Stick with the deep thinking and pondering, conquer the chaos.
Enjoy your youth because YES it goes fast and you will figure it out a little later but right now seriously enjoy your youth ;-) Have a great day & a beautiful journey ;-)
Narcissism is a specific mental disorder that makes the individual have no empathy for others and they are always abusive. I think the word most people are trying to find when they say narcissistic is egotistical.
ALEXIA LIFE COACH - Tout est Beau Dans ma Vie What does that mean? I hear that a lot. What does it even mean to enjoy your youth? Party and get stoned till you wake up the next morning covered in vomit? Care less about the way you treat others? Have meaningless sex? Joke and laugh while passing the homeless person begging for cash? That’s all I see people my age doing when they say they’re “enjoying life”. I don’t want to be like that. I’d much rather be compassionate and take care of others, and give them- and myself- the love we need.
Thank you for this video, Nathaniel! I have had extreme anxiety in the past when it came to thinking about why we are here and what is to come after death. I'm so happy to know that I am not alone and that there are other people with these types of questions. Life is so mysterious and weird but I definitely believe we are all here for a reason. Thanks for the video
I really love the way you turned your channel from just trying different random things to deeper things like this. I enjoyed your old content, but I enjoy this content even more. There’s a lot for me (a 16 year old professional artist) to learn from you. Your videos are truly beautiful and I mean that. Keep it up Nathaniel!
aston dias Actually yes. I am the owner of a design studio in California. Only been open for a few weeks but already have over 10 clients. I do web design, digital art, and murals.
aston dias I would recommend not getting a degree in it. Instead what you should do is take some online training. Nothing too time consuming, just something effective. Employers would always take the person with a lot of work experience over the person who has a degree. Just do online stuff, dedicate yourself to learning the programs inside and out, and look for a job.
aston dias sure! I would say that you should always stick with Adobe apps. The way that I learned the most is actually through RUclips. And a ton of practice of course, but youtube has some great tutorials on different techniques and tools that you would have never known exist. Graphic design can be many different things. It can be extreme photo manipulation, logo designs, clothing designs, illustration, etc. I would recommend sticking to one program. (Photoshop CC 2020 or illustrator 2020) once you have mastered the program and have nothing left to learn, move on to the next program. I did this process until I mastered every app adobe makes (20+) along with a few other apps from different companies. It is definitely very time consuming, but there are tons of jobs and ways to profit off of these skills. Web design is a huge one. If you would like to message me further my number is (661)858-9033 hope this helps!
Thank you! I feel so connected like you're just literally speaking out my thoughts and everything that i barely can. And it's such a relief that there are other people because i thought that maybe i'm the only person on the earth, who thinks about this stuff...😅 loved "welcome to the club"❤
I needed to pause this video to tell you how much I appreciate the editing... I´m a videoproducer myself and I LOVE how much effort you put into every video, but this one especially... not only beautifully written and filmed, but especially the edit is incredible! Love from Germany!!! :) XX
Humans like this are rare. I appreciate channels like this so much. People who dare to look behind the curtain behind the mask. Your videos are stimulating yet soothing. Don't ever stop because your impact would be greatly missed.
Thank you for this beautiful video - it's so deep, yet enjoyable to watch. When i started asking myself those question "Who am I?" And "what is this world about?", I found the non-duality teaching helpful in answering those questions, especially Rupert Spira's and Allan Watt's videos - many of them are on RUclips.
You're having an awakening, friend. Good for you. All the thoughts you're thinking - they are not an accident. You're being guided by god/source/the universe/your higher self. Enjoy the ride. ❤🌟🌈
Highly agree ! 👍 I just downloaded the ePub version for free directly on my iPhone and currently about to read the book on the iBooks app ! Thanks for the recommendation !
That book single-handedly started my spiritual & self-improvement journey. It's a bit of a trudge and the dialogue style and be a little exhausting at times, but the gems contained within are great re-wordings & interpretations of various philosophical & spiritual concepts. I'm finishing up the sequel right now, The Courage To Be Happy.
I just recently finished reading both this and The Courage to be Happy and I can can confirm there are a LOT of good ideas and philosophies in those books! Good shout :)
Thank you for this. I was having these thoughts a couple of years ago and was having a crisis, I was in a really dark place for a while because of it. I guarantee this video has helped someone, I wish I could have seen it years ago, but I really appreciate you being open enough to confront these topics on RUclips. Good job, wonderful editing. Keep being you :)
Your reflections on "who am I?" echoes the Buddhist philosophy of "emptiness"; that there is not an unchanging, independent entity that you can identify as "I". You cannot say that "I" exists, nor can you say that "I" does not exist.
I do have to say, on the contrary I think your belief systems can really make you have more to confront in life. I don’t think it makes anything easier. When you’re just going with the flow of society is when things are easy. When you live by a set of values or beliefs it causes you to stand out from the crowd which often brings on a lot of people questioning you because seeing someone doing things differently than the social norms makes people uncomfortable, it makes them look at themselves. I find once people learn that you’re different they often will challenge your values or beliefs to try to find holes it in to make themselves feel better about what they’re not doing. Long comment but I just had to say I’ve had a drastically different experience than what you’ve described.
I would say once you decide your values don't align with norms it then becomes harder to conform to those norms than just be who you naturally are. If you beliefs don't align with what your doing it is hard and at that point it because easier to not conform because you won't feel guilt for not doing what you truly want
imadieflyin I could see that being a problem. It does make you question if you should just conform or stick to what you know is right for you. Then I suppose it all falls on what kind of person you are, are you a person who sticks to your guns and follows what you know is right or do you let it go so that things will be easy.
I'm grateful that the YT algorithm gods place your vids on my feed! Although I would also search them out independently! Love your curiosity and willingness to share your struggles!
Your ability to express thoughts that are going through my mind lately is enormous. When I came across those questions i found out that as you said existentialism help in our range of conscious awareness this times, but I suggest lectures of Alan Watts, his positivity and knowledge blend almost perfectly. Thank you
I've been watching your channel for a couple of months but I never had written a message here, but here it comes... keep doing what your doing Nathaniel, with all of that honesty that you show to others, trying to help yourself (first) and giving others a quick view of how they might help themselves in a certain area of life. Keep it up!!
Just beautiful. I think a lot about existentialism and usually end up just trying to stop thinking about it when I get too deep. The most beautiful video I've seen about it is by Veritasium. He walks around Chernobyl and talks about how nothing is permanent. It's called "Visiting Chernobyl Made Me Think Strange Thoughts..." and definitely worth a watch if you liked this video.
Beyond Your Doorstep fantastic reply. I was Vera’s video back when it came out and I agree, it is my favorite thing on youtube! Incredibly thought provoking
you’re definitely the best creator out there. thank you for always making me feel normal about questioning things and for giving me the motivation to go after what I want.
Bruh. “I do believe in God. But I’m not religious.” You really get me, man. As much as another existentially lost, self-aware, functional introvert can.
I feel like you started and ended with two different subjects. I wanted to know more about the existential crises and the contemplation of the line between life being pointless and life being important. I understand that belief systems like god and religion are tied in to the but I would love if you could maybe talk about philosophers and their ideas or solutions more. Love the video though this is by far my favorite of yours so far and at least for my life came at the perfect time as I have just started to deal with these questions in my own mind. Keep up the good work!
"Other than the fact that my horoscope is a black hole and my personality type is angsty teenager" HA that's the best line I've heard in a long time. Besides that, it's a fantastic video, I lurk a lot on your channel and find it very inspiring.
Nathaniel, you're definitely not alone in your questioning and lack of clarity. I overthink a hell of a lot more than this and I woidl say I have been driven to insanity and found not peace as of yet. Of course there are still many global issues and I too feel an overwhelming helplessness in knowing of the atrocities happening, but solutions don't lie in a single individual. We must each work together. I'm glad people like you post about real things as opposed to the generic bullshit I'm sick of seeing as popular. Keep being inquisitive and running. 👍🏼
Dude I love you. This video is the shiznit! You’re truly ahead of your time. The production game in this video (and pretty much all the videos I’ve seen from you) are so on point. Your choice of music cues and sound fx in your videos fit so well with the visuals. “Humanity is just making it up as we go”, I love this quote because I’ve felt this way especially in trying to understand life this last decade. “The absurdity of the world” is something I’ve pondered on especially when I think of popular American media and culture. Man Nathaniel, your videos are really a refreshing part of every week for me now. I love the humor and honesty that you bring to your videos too. I used to be a big viewer of Matt D, but these days I tend to watch your work much more often. Kudos to you man, keep it up! Also, sorry if I came off as some kind of creepy fanboy.
Oh man. Too much information for my brain to process in just 10 mins. Great content though. You need to watch it quite few times to get the gist. You are awesome man. ♥️
The word for this world in Arabic is "Dunya", which means the "temporal world", or literally "lower". The reason why this word "Dunya" is used to describe this world in Arabic is because this world is a temporary, lower world. We could all try and achieve happiness in this world, but ultimately, as you rightly point out, we will all die eventually. What then could we aim for that is greater than merely the moment. That is where God comes in. In acknowledgement not only of Gods mere existence, but his absolute power, knowledge, generosity, compassion, and mercy, and so on, you begin to be able to fulfil your own potential, as a more conscious human being, a human being who lives with intelligence, humility, and kindness, in the world, and always has the next, more perfect, eternal world, in his mind. Which can only be rewarded, by God...
Man, it's so inspiring to see your first videos, and comparing them to this sort of content and quality inspires the hell out of me. Thank You Nathaniel for being a real one.
The fact that you share your journey, thoughts, growth in attempt to help the likeminded is pretty selfless, the ability to do so and express your self creatively as well sounds like an existence worth envy. Amazing video, this one. I will never know how you crafted it into 10 minutes is beyond me.
This video is not just a video.. all the content, the words, the research, the questions with and without answers, the thinking behind... I am one of those that feel that 'Welcome to the Club' as I am most of the time asking myself heaps of questions about life, meaning, purpose and too many things which sometimes, as you well said, just brings me to some existencial crisis. Thanks a ton for all the work you put in every single piece and for sharing it with us. Btw, I am just gonna sign up to the Newsletter right now, I am way too much into anything related to the Being, essence, mental clarity, questions, presence, philosophy, life.. and so much more. Thanks once again and have yourself a wonderful day today!
Can't wait to see your channel after 1 million subs. Cause every video of yours is better than the previous one. Just wanna see how you gonna take it from here.
You have really outdone yourself with the editing on this one, Nath! I've been dealing a lot with existentialism lately, this video was a refreshing watch knowing I'm not the only one. Loving your content, always! :)
I relate to this SOOOOO MUCH. When I started reading the Bible and had faith that it is the Word of God, my eyes opened to so much Truth...Of course that doesn't just happen to anyone. God has to reveal Himself to you. But, if you seek the Truth, you will find. You're on the right path Nathaniel. Keep seeking bro.
Man's telos is Jesus Christ. As Blessed Augustine once wrote: 'For You have made us for Yourself, O Lord and our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee"
I absolutely love this. You are so good with your words. I feel the same way about life, but when I try to convey that to others they think I am really depressed and being negative, when I am really just trying to get their perspectives on life. I love watching your videos, and I hope you see this because I want you to know that watching these videos makes me feel more sane and makes me challenge myself in a way I would not have thought of before. Thank you!
What I love about your channel is it's just your journey in life. You don't seek to answer all the questions or solve all the problems, you just give your take on things and why you have the views you have. It's refreshing, especially for me since I often feel alone in these issues. I'll talk to my friends about them, but I can tell from their answers they're talking from a place without experience and how these simple questions can really tear down and bring up life (for me at least). It's incredibly motivating to know that I'm not alone with these thoughts and how they fill most moments of my life. I still have yet to find an answer that truly satisfies me, however every time I watch one of your videos I feel just that little bit more at peace. Much Love
There is something about your channel that makes me want to cry. Even though a lot of our views differ, I have this profound sense of relief knowing I am not alone. Thankyou for continuing to be vulnerable with sharing your thoughts

I really hope you read this, I went through a high Emotional Existential crisis last year for months and your videos on stoicism really helped me clear my mind and realize that I don't have to hold on to those thoughts, I'm going to leave this video before I get into another Existential crisis
The first half of the video was literally the voice inside my head
Yeah its crazy, and i dont even wanna think about this at all, just cant help myself
Lmao the time this started happening to me was when I started gaining information about how the world works.
I fell in love with your thoughts boi, I always wonder if I can meet someone like you irl and have deep convos about life the same exact thoughts "Does it matter doing all the good in the end we perish" because I keep thinking the same way, my start for reading books also started with your channel, I would love to meet you someday even if I have to pay!
same here
I've always wanted to meet people like him irl too.
Same
Same here. I sometimes think that most people think about this from time to time but are afraid of talking about it until someone makes them feel confident enough to start the conversation
@@Chuyinil sometimes i even pretended to think like they think so that they didn't "judge" or make fun of me
But enough of that, there's no need to be afraid of being me, if those people judge me i probably shouldn't be even with them
I talk about these things with my friend nearly every day.
Right? Everyone keeps asking why im thinking about this unnecessary stuff.
i share the same viewpoint! it can also relieve a lot of pressure and anxiety when you believe that just "existing" (even if you're not doing anything productive) is a beautiful thing as well
I agree with the statements above. Currently, a lot of us are humans DOING, but we should be human BEINGS.
I've never heard anything from anyone that satisfies me, however, I love what you're saying that in those moments just focus on the simple beautiful things around you. Reading that is actually super helpful. Thanks for sharing that
@Efe Colak ?
Finally.
Yea I’m 19 and it’s just crazy. I think the world is moving at its fastest right now. I think it’s all about perception
ALEXIA LIFE COACH - Tout est Beau Dans ma Vie
What does that mean? I hear that a lot. What does it even mean to enjoy your youth? Party and get stoned till you wake up the next morning covered in vomit? Care less about the way you treat others? Have meaningless sex? Joke and laugh while passing the homeless person begging for cash? That’s all I see people my age doing when they say they’re “enjoying life”. I don’t want to be like that. I’d much rather be compassionate and take care of others, and give them- and myself- the love we need.
damn bro, i don't get it why you're not blowing up, you're very skilled and underrated
I do web design, digital art, and murals.
aston dias actual studio. 1250 square feet
aston dias yes, along with everything I previously mentioned.
aston dias I would recommend not getting a degree in it.
And it's such a relief that there are other people because i thought that maybe i'm the only person on the earth, who thinks about this stuff...😅
loved "welcome to the club"❤
I needed to pause this video to tell you how much I appreciate the editing... I´m a videoproducer myself and I LOVE how much effort you put into every video, but this one especially... not only beautifully written and filmed, but especially the edit is incredible! Love from Germany!!! :) XX
Humans like this are rare. I appreciate channels like this so much. People who dare to look behind the curtain behind the mask. Your videos are stimulating yet soothing. Don't ever stop because your impact would be greatly missed.
BRO!!! THIS AFTER EFFECTS IS NEXT LEVEL FLAMES 🔥
Have you written a book? I really want to read your book.
He's been working on a book for the past few years.
It felt like I am listening to the voice of my thoughts through the best possible words.
You expressed it beautifully. Loved the change.
"Time to start asking questions about existence itself. lol." - Next tattoo.
lolol
Your videos are so relatable, one of the few youtubers that doesn’t change with popularity. Keep being you man love the videos!!
You're having an awakening, friend. Good for you. All the thoughts you're thinking - they are not an accident. You're being guided by god/source/the universe/your higher self. Enjoy the ride. ❤🌟🌈
He is just asking questions trying to make sense of the world. Its not an "awakening"
BS 28784 that’s literally, part of an awekening
The quality of your content is unreal. You deserve so many ears listening to what you have to say!
If you want answers, read: The Courage to be disliked - Ichiro Kishimi
Highly agree ! 👍 I just downloaded the ePub version for free directly on my iPhone and currently about to read the book on the iBooks app ! Thanks for the recommendation !
Noname how can you agree if you haven’t even read it yet 😂
That book single-handedly started my spiritual & self-improvement journey. It's a bit of a trudge and the dialogue style and be a little exhausting at times, but the gems contained within are great re-wordings & interpretations of various philosophical & spiritual concepts. I'm finishing up the sequel right now, The Courage To Be Happy.
Wow thank you for the recommendation! Will definitely look into it. 👍
The quality of this video is a whooole new level 👌
that part about money is an eye opener. the trick is to find the balance. thank you
poppychula
Balance is key, exactly:)
Your reflections on "who am I?" echoes the Buddhist philosophy of "emptiness"; that there is not an unchanging, independent entity that you can identify as "I". You cannot say that "I" exists, nor can you say that "I" does not exist.
You hit the nail on the head. Taking responsibility for one’s actions is sexy.
One of your best video’s if you ask me. Such an interesting topic
Yay! With the production of this video you reached a new, elevated level. I love everything about it! Thanks for your work.
Nathaniel Drew: The question I can't stop asking myself...
Me: Watching the video eyes wide open in amazement at this guy's insane editing skills!
Thank you, this is so beautiful! You are so big inside out, powerful and nice with some philosophy 🙏
YES! Thank you for this, I resonate so strongly with these thoughts and questions. Keep on shining man :)
let me just appreciate the animations & the overall amount of editing done for this video! Now, tell us how you did it!!
I really loved how you put this video together. I can really see how much you have built your craft of story telling. 🙌👏
Try "Academy of Ideas"
Been watching your videos for a while and just wanted to say thank you! Your content is pretty awesome!
"Other than the fact that my horoscope is a black hole and my personality type is angsty teenager" HA that's the best line I've heard in a long time. Besides that, it's a fantastic video, I lurk a lot on your channel and find it very inspiring.
that "Welcome to the Club" was so heart warming
This cinematography is stunning.... This is the type of video I share with my soulmate :)) thx Nath
Do you have a editing team or by yourself if it’s by yourself: 1 stop showing off 😂 2 your spoiling us
He was already amazing from early on, but now I feel like he's hitting a new level. Bloody awesome stuff huh!
jxel practice
PRODUCTION 👏🏼 QUALITY 👏🏼
Sohayb Megraoui perfectly put.
Sohayb Megraoui perfectly put. x2
Man, it's so inspiring to see your first videos, and comparing them to this sort of content and quality inspires the hell out of me. Thank You Nathaniel for being a real one.
One more to the pile of questions: "If there is one truth, how can we have different opinions?"
The fact that you share your journey, thoughts, growth in attempt to help the likeminded is pretty selfless, the ability to do so and express your self creatively as well sounds like an existence worth envy. Amazing video, this one. I will never know how you crafted it into 10 minutes is beyond me.
Wow you've truly outdone yourself with the editing here! Lovely message as well, but that's a given on all of your videos :)
"Do you ever go on a run" this video started really wrong for me
For some reason I really needed to hear all this. Thank you. Also, your filmmaking skills are awesome :)
Vonnegut wrote something like: "We're on this earth to fart around, and anyone who tries to tell you any different is trying to sell you something."
I can appreciate all the details you put in your videos man, you’re seriously talented and I’m glad I found you
Love the footage from the forest
I relate to this SOOOOO MUCH. When I started reading the Bible and had faith that it is the Word of God, my eyes opened to so much Truth...Of course that doesn't just happen to anyone. God has to reveal Himself to you. But, if you seek the Truth, you will find. You're on the right path Nathaniel. Keep seeking bro.
"do you ever go on a run and .."
no lol
Exactly. It's bad for your knees and raises cortisol. Better to just walk.
@@Ruylopez778 u have clearly never experienced runners high
Your storytelling always blows me away. Thanks for all you do Nathaniel.
Man's telos is Jesus Christ. As Blessed Augustine once wrote: 'For You have made us for Yourself, O Lord and our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee"
Yes!!! Thank you!
Thank you!
This gives me soft Exurb1a vibes
And I LOVE it
I wish for more of this kind of videos ❤️
I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows the words of our Lord Exurb1a haha
@@arvinmaltezobareng2629 Cattington, fetch me my breakfast opium, would you?
True tho
Sure! This is a subtle way to give existential crisis.
Oh my, thank you for that mention! I'm gonna binge all of his videos now xd
Much Love
god frickin dammit this is literally what has been plaguing me for years to the point of depression... ..
There is something about your channel that makes me want to cry. Even though a lot of our views differ, I have this profound sense of relief knowing I am not alone. Thankyou for continuing to be vulnerable with sharing your thoughts
