Deon Fourie's mother was my son's gimnastics coach. She helped him win 1st place at the SA schools championship. If you meet his mother you will understand so much about the man. She is a wonderful, strong woman that instilled discipline and selfrespect in everything she taught the children. I hope you fall in love with our wonderful country because it IS something special. I also hope you will have time to sit around a bushveld fire and look up at the southern cross. If you want an opportunity to go hunting (on the house) we live about an hour and a half from Pretoria between Brits and Tabazimbi and can arrange something for you because I love your channel and never miss and episode.
This 2nd season is even better than the first. 2019 was an unexpected win. In 2023 the whole country was desperately hoping the boks would win again. The pressure was immense.
Tim unless you can afford a private helicopter 🚁 I think you’ll struggle to get from Affies vs Maritzburg College game in Pietermaritzburg to Durban in time for kick-off of Boks 🇿🇦 vs Ireland 🇮🇪 Test. One of my party to Durban test match had to pull out because his son is an Affies schoolboy and they are attending the Maritzburg College derby. Suggestion: watch Grey College vs Grey High (Siya Kolisi’s old school) in Bloemfontein the following Saturday at Grey College (the heart of SA schoolboy rugby) before heading over to the Free State Stadium less than a mile away to catch Boks 🇿🇦 vs Portugal 🇵🇹 test match!
Gutted I can’t watch this here in Ireland. The Springboks resilience in the face of all challenges in that World Cup really impressed. Things I thought couldn’t work, worked. Players I thought were too old outperformed their younger counterparts. Tactics I thought limited we so nuanced. The most exiting and best games of RWC involved mine and their teams. World champs v Number 1 in world. Even now I’m salivating at the thought of the June tests. Back to back world champs and number 1 in world v 6 Nations champs and number 2 in world. The rivalry developing between Ireland and South Africa can’t be overhyped enough. It’s definitely one Rasi wants to put rest and but one we’ll want to continue.
Yay! You are going to love SA. No one understands what rugby is to South Africa, also showcases how passionate South Africans are. I've travelled the world and South Africans are just different, special.
I have been lucky enough to go to SA 3 times and believe me the passion you see outside the country is nothing compared to what it is like in the country. As a Leicester fan I was immediately recognised because of the shirt and that was the catalyst for people wanting to talk purely about rugby and what is means in SA. Have a fab time
Saffa here, appreciate the kind comments about our country. Having said that, if you had worn a Wallabies jersey the interactions may not have been so friendly ... lol
i so appreciate the passion and respect you (and Jim Hamilton) have for SA rugby, while we receive lots of disrespect from Matt Williams, John Kirwan and the IRB etc...
You are such a wonderful story teller. Love your feeds. I met Deon in a shop after the world cup.. boy what a humble man so proud of them. My BLOOD IS GREEN 💚 I tell you a proud South Africa.. Captonian
You are the fastest growing rugby channel because you say it how it is and are unbiased in your views. You know your rugby, you love your rugby and you say what you see and feel without trying to be controversial with a balanced opinion.
For me the big takeaway from the doccie S1 annd S2 is the honesty in the entire setup, from the coaches to the players. Everyone is accountable, and everyone is heard. That is the foundation of the strength of the Boks. It forces everyone to put feelings aside for the bigger picture and what a bigger picture it is. 👏👏👏👏
Tim, your commentary on this South African film effort is so refreshing, compared to some UK journalism last year around the "Kant" episode. Imagine a journalist actually trying to understand what makes South Africans tick, warts and all, bloody history and all! Priceless! I had to leave the "cry the beloved country" 22 years ago for survival reasons, but I'm so excited for you to go and meet the "salt of the earth" people there from all ethnicities, you will return richer in your soul. If only, if only, the story of the 'Boks and their teamwork to success can be cloned for all areas of life in dear old RSA. Thanks, "Boet". (Afrikaans for Brother -my honourary title for you)
Just a pronunciation tip Tim, Boet sounds like Boot, but you have to say it quick, quicker than you think. We also use the word "lekke" which you can use to describe anything nice/pleasant. Pronunciation, lacquer. The food is "lekke". The beer is "lekke". Did you enjoy the rugby? It was "lekke".
NOTHING has encapsulated the dawn of Nelson Mandela 's South Africa, as much as our rugby has. The love, joy, laughter, and sharing of a common goal join South Africa on a level that must be seen and experienced to believe. All the rhetoric of politicians that seek to divide us is kicked into touch, and we stand united as an example to the world. This makes me proud of our magnificent country. This makes me proud to be a South African ❤
I am a South African, and Springbok supporter, needless to say. There are two rugby podcasts I follow all the time and, believe me, I checked out all of them since before the WC. Eggchasers is one of them. Your coverage of the WC was brilliant, and I agreed with probably everything you had to say. I vividly recall your feelings and words (even though the game left one almost speechless) in the stadium after the game against Ireland. So spot-on. Yes, I think it was probably the "best" test I have seen. I think "seen" is probably the wrong word; "experienced" is a more appropriate one. Both teams not giving an inch. Incredible. The fact that the Springboks lost is immaterial. My other favourite podcast is Two Cents rugby.
Just knew you would love and appreciate Chasing The Sun 2... Thanks Tim - was waiting for a review and hwre it is. Hoping the rest of the Rugby World can see this documentary as well so they can understand the Springboks and South Africa instead of always giving this beautiful rugby nation so much flack and negativity.
You’re probably right about that as big Jim did say Scotland would beat us in the pool stages. To be honest though, it shows how sad it is as very few commentators are positive towards the springboks and South Africans. It’s really quite sad as I think we are misunderstood - we have a genuine love for our country and passion for rugby that may come across as sanctimonious to some. But it is genuine, and I think it would be so nice to have commentators besides big Jim and eggchasers actually given the boks more credit for what they are doing and the innovation they are contributing to the sport.
@@AlettaArnold are you for real? The entire world and their momma are yelling in favor of SA and saying rassies is a genius that should ve at nasa. The credit everyone is giving SA should las for at least a couple of centuries.

Absolute class, im looking forward to every Sunday for the next episode, with the same feeling I have for a Rugby game coming up the weekend! Season one had me, a 260 pound, 6 feet 2 South African sitting with tears, while watching. The pure emotion and the way we can relate! Just Class!

What's clear is the sense of pride and self-esteem in the entire setup. The guys are realists and honest about their performance, no grandiose claims, no exaggeration, just honest communication.
I just have to say your passion for rugby and especially springbok rugby is tangible and as an expat it makes me miss the atmosphere at a rugby match in Durban at the Stadium, thanks for your shows that are so well expressed 👍🏼👊🏼
Tim you are welcome to do a detour when you are in Cape Town just to experience Paternoster and the West Coast as a whole, this is where Capetonians go on a weekend break and where people from the North go on holiday. You'll find people who are indigenous to this country who live from the ocean. It is a day trip, so don't avoid it.
It will not be for rugby. But Paternoster is a true South African heaven experience but must say you will have to learn some Afrikaans before you go there to really appreciate the people.99% of all the people is Afrikaans but you will understand what they are saying.Great podcast.
We will enjoy these moments when our team is at the top. We know it is cyclical, so must enjoy this. Deon Fourie, a true Cinderella Man! So happy for him.
Awesome to hear you visiting the Rainbow nation. Wishing you the very best of trips. Methinks you will love Craven week. Perhaps visit the Behind the Ruck studio. Im sure you would be well received by them.

Your channel remains the best rugby channel on the web. Thank you Tim, also for your positive comments on our national pride. In a country where so many things are not working, the one standout thing that remains world class is the Springboks. I think everyone acknowledges that in South Africa. All of the best with your trip to SA. Just make sure you seek & follow advice to stay safe here. Make sure you remain in the mainstream areas, and don't attempt to explore dodgy places. I would hate to hear that you got mugged in some remote area. I can't wait to hear your reports on your visit here.
Thanks for the review Tim! I hope you have a GREAT time over here in SA. You are most welcome brother. Loved your RWC content. Pls keep it coming for the rugby championship as well.
I finally managed to watch it! It's pretty tough getting hold of it, but I managed. :) Geez, that Bok camp is intense. It just gives you new respect for the players and the coaches. Looking forward to the rest!
I am a proud South African and rugby plays such a special part of our culture. It brings people together like nothing else. I heard that you want to watch some school rugby as well. You must then definitely have to come to the interschool rugby match between Paarl Gimnasium and Paarl Boys High on the 03/08/2024. A lot of Springboks came from these two schools.

I love your views on RWC2024 and your honest take on many things. I am very happy that you are to cover to cover Deon Fourie soon in your channel. I cant wait. Though all credit to RE and his management coaching team, also all springbok 2023 players, I am a great admirer of DF during the RWC finals. He displayed awesome battling attitude for a 35+ man. I'm sure you will have a great time in South Africa, we are a very warm and hospitable people. I think its great that you are going to experience all the levels of rugby. The rivalry between the big schools is something very special - I suggest you also try and attend a match between Grey College and Paul Roos Gymnasium or one of the famous Paarl schools. I also hope you get to interview Deon Fourie- this man is incredible. To win a world cup final, against the New Zealand All Blacks, playing out of position, playing for 75 minutes of the game, at 37 years of age is a feat that will not be easily replicated. I hope you make PLENTY of videos while you're here, perhaps your own series! Keep up the great work sir!
I was cynical at one point. We Saffas are used to getting the short end of the stick when it comes to international pundits and podcasts. I was suspicious that you might just be pandering to Saffa fans for clicks. I will admit that I was wrong and I apologise. You are a real fan of the game of rugby and you've made an effort to try and understand who the Boks are and what they are about. You get it.
Awesome Tim - you are going to have a "eyepopping" tour of South Africa - you should let us fans and subscribers know where you are going to be so we can make an effort to meet you -

@@ianjacobs2998Cut it out, both of you - the whole world is slowly getting the full picture.
@@Truthseeker-iz3dj No, it depends where you decide to stay in S Africa .I was a tradesmen (Tool, jig and die maker) working in Gauteng.Decide to move out of that shit hole. Living on the Westcoast (CAPE). HEAVEN ON EARTH! If you a 'hard' worker(dedicated) and don't expect handouts you can make it!!!
Thank you for your unbiased commentary, you will love SA!! I enjoy your channel, Cheers
Hope you have a great trip to SA.
We live in Joubertina in the Eastern cape if you are looking for a place to stay the night then we are available!
I think the fact that the Boks won the Rugby World Cup pushes this documentary to the next level.
Say special hello to DF, fan from Malaysia working in Kazakhstan.
I've been watching ur videos during the WC Mat and loved it.
You'll have an amazing time in SA, really happy for you and the experiences you'll get to experience!
You deserve more subscribers mate.
Deon Fourie ending the final game as (acting) captain barely 15 months after his Springbok debut, is possibly my favourite story.
🇿🇦At heart, the man is a beast at 38💪🏿💪🏿💯💯
Absolutely love your content. Love seeing your fan base grow.
So looking forward to your SA trip!!
Can’t wait for you to visit our country South Africa 🇿🇦 and Feel our love for the Game of Rugby 🏉 and we’re it all starts for little boys in schools boys Rugby 🏉 to become a Springbok one day love your channel 👍
Great show! Started watching Egg Chasers during the last World Cup. Best rugby channel on the internet!
Well done and good on you. Great ambassador and supporter of rugby 🏉. Youre welcome in the R of SA
Just watched episode 3 and Rassie thinking is next level brilliant, against France the weaknesses he found and training technique.
Outstanding work. Thanks eggchasers!!!
Great stuff Tim - love your attitude and your enthusiasm!👍🏉
We are one heck of a f&cked Country but our people...the best 💚💛🇿🇦 love it.
Looking forward to your SA visit. Appreciate your rugby passion and enjoying your appreciation of SA Rugby culture
I love your honest analysis, truly the best
I was cynical at one point. We Saffas are used to getting the short end of the stick when it comes to international pundits and podcasts. I was suspicious that you might just be pandering to Saffa fans for clicks. I will admit that I was wrong and I apologise. You are a real fan of the game of rugby and you've made an effort to try and understand who the Boks are and what they are about. You get it.
Great work as always Tim.. i have got tickets to Stormers vs La Rochelle on Saturday, so rugby fever building here in SA..
