We recommend you to take entire day in Rastoke! Etno village is small itself, but it is a place you can get lost in. The magical Rastoke village is completely surrounded by water, making it an idyllic destination. It consists of three large islands connected by bridges. This unique setup makes this place stand out from the rest. They have tavern, mill, textile house, museum, fishpond and meadow with a totem in the middle. The waterfalls in Rastoke were named after the mill owners, and the most famous ones are Buk, Hrvoje and Fairy Hair. But our favorite in village was hidden cave bellow waterfall.
Rastoke is affectionately known as "Small Plitvice Lakes" due to the similar natural phenomena present there compared to the bigger Plitvice Lakes. It's where Slunjčica River meets Korana River, one of two rivers found in the Plitvice Lakes National Park. It isn't possible to compare Rastoke to Plitvice Lakes, as the latter displays a breathtaking level of beauty that can’t be matched. The majestic scale of the lakes makes them incomparable to many other places. That being said, Rastoke is a much smaller destination compared to many others; however, it offers a thousand times more relaxing experience because there aren't as many visitors.
Not only this, but the village is completely overwater too. If you rent a bungalow here, it will most likely be an 'overwater' one. This can give you a much more deeper connection to the natural beauty of the Plitvice Lakes area.
