And today, exactly 9 years later he ended his career. Also nine years ago Berbatov became the all time top scorer for my national team.
I swear dude, alot of people forget about this guy, he is easily one of the best players of all time, I can't believe people prefer Suarez, or Lewandowski over this guy, I wish Berba could return as a manager we really need someone like him
At Tottenham he was winning player of the season awards, at Fulham too. Problem was when he came to Man U there were at least 5 bigger name players than him and at times it felt like everytime he got the ball he was expected to do something extraordinary just so he doesn't get overshadowed by the other big stars.
At most other clubs he played for there was no such pressure.
But despite all that he still was great. Just that with Ronado and co. running around like race bikes, it became hard for Berba to stand out, like he did in all the other clubs he played for.

I miss Berbatov I was quite young when I first heard of him coming to Man U and ever since ive adored his strikes and crucial goals.
I was old enough to have known that he was a great striker for Tottenham. And I loved ever moment that he was at United. His movement and overall style of play was so fluid.

I remember watching this live with my dad on our 17 inch TV. My dad was lying on the sofa. When Berbatov scored the second goal he launched 1 metre up in the air from that lying position.

Berbatov got a bad rap at United for being arrogant and lazy, he is neither. He’s pure class, his touch is sublime, invaluable striker who is sorely missed. People mistook his appearance; he didn’t run hard bc he didn’t need to. He always kept the ball at his feet so he didn’t need to run after the ball.

Lazy maybe, but he ain't arrogant. That's just his way of playing, man's tearing defenses by walking, something which only some few players can do like Iniesta and Ozil with their passing.
To control the ball like that, with his back to goal, to then go for the overhead and direct it so well the keeper could only watch. Stunning. What a sublime player Berbatov was.

Honestly his crossing was second to none for the better part of a decade. Best crosser since Beckham. I remember after an injury and a new season looming, there was a training video of Nani and saying how he is working on his crossing from both feet. And he was unbelievable for us that season.

I think Berbatov had 3 hat-tricks that season, including that amazing performance against Blackburn where he netted 5 times !
Typical Berbaflop. He scored zero vs Blackburn in the 0-0 draw that lost ManUtd the title the previous season therefore costing them a record 4 PL's in in a row.
As you said in 2010/11 he then scores 5 in 1 game a 7-1 against the same club in a home game where ManUtd would win anyway but again when it really matters in a cup semi-final vs ManCity he misses sitters at 0-0 and costs his team a place in the final where they would've only had to beat Stoke. A lot of ManUtd legends didn't get to receive an FAcup winners medal which still bugs me. I don't care that Berba didn't get one he didn't deserve it but other players like Rio etc...did.
Berbatov just wasn't cut out for playing for a club with great expectations to win silverware that's why he didn't play for another giant club in his career, only lasted 4 years here & flopped (would've only been 2 years but couldn't sell him, no big club wanted him).
When a player has great performance week after week, he is a great player.
BUT, when that player is humble on top of his great performance, he is just on a different level all together.

Svetoslav Todorov is another Bulgarian that played for Portsmouth and placed them on the top in first division ready to fight in the Premiere League. Too bad he got injured and wasn't able to play in the Premiere League with his team.
I personally think this bicycle kick beats Rooneys against city. By a large margin as well. This was so much harder to do overall. How he took the ball on his first touch. With his knee as well. Then make the ball travel that fast from his stand point of view. And then hit the top post was just a bonus.
