I bought this on VHS and was so excited to see it... Opened the shrink wrap and there was some other movie inside. Returning it to SUNCOAST and they had no other copy in the store nor were they able to order one because it was already OOP apparently. Broke my little 13 year old heart. This is 25 years in the making being able to finally see it here. Thanks Dr. Sapirstein!

Superb feature! I do wish they had gone through the effect shot when Alice gets sucked into the cinema screen too, that was super effective and I'm am impressed with how it looks like going from live to flat in a single shot.

I love how at 2:02 the fake chains sound plastic, and in the film, after dubbing, they sound real. 😂

It’s insane how incredible this looks in comparison to the original quality. Great work! I own this documentary, but I thought you posted TDM’s all access behind the scenes camcorder footage for a second (which I also own).

@@nicholashelmsley9286 It was on eBay 12 years ago. The guy who sold it was actually on set recording everything. He sold the DVDs in a limited quantity and no longer sells them anymore. I’m thinking about ripping it and uploading it to RUclips.

@@Lstar07 This is greatly appreciated, dude. Thank you for taking the time to provide me with the links, as well. I hope that you do venture into ripping and upscaling the footage - I will definitely keep a sharp eye out for it.
There is AI software that I know of (I haven’t used it myself) that is used by the likes of the BBC by Topaz Labs. I’ve never used it myself, but I know you can download it as free software to trial and export with a watermark, so you’d be able to see if it is a worthy venture.

I've seen the making of a nightmare on elm Street when Robert englund puts on his Freddy Krueger prosthetic makeup

Haha it's so ironic that a child killer in horror movies was, and still is for some, one of the most beloved 80's characters for tons of kids and teenagers who should actually be scared of him. I remember meeting him when i was younger when they filmed in my hometown. Took a picture with him and got an autograph. Under all that makeup he was a real nice guy, and it was obvious that he appreciated the fact that all the people there to see him loved him, especially the kids.

    35 years old!
Still the most fun entry in the franchise particularly when it comes to the special effects
The movie is one of my favorites in the series; a rocking 80s soundtrack, a likable cast of teens, solid pacing, way more creative ways of Freddy slaughtering his victims, plus this is also the birth of Freddy using his infamous one-liners
Renny Harlin makes this so much fun to watch plus Robert Englund enjoyed this as his best performance as Freddy
The film takes advantage of the surrealism of the landscape of the mind, the imagination, the dreamscape, of an individual victim’s nightmare
The death scene involving the cockroach transformation is so grisly and will always stick in my mind; it’s another one of those phobias that turns on the person who has it to full effect
Lisa Wilcox makes for a very interesting lead too being she’s a character that’s gaining a trait every time one of her friends dies which will build her strength to face Freddy so she grows in terms of her arc too going from timid and shy to confident and active
There’s also a theme of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ next to the philosophy of Aristotle of when you dream your soul walks free although Wilcox’s casting is a bit on the nose
This was a rushed production and it was heavily impacted by the writers strike of ‘87 yet Renny Harlin makes for some big action set pieces in a ‘Nightmare’ film that basks in its excess being colorful, inventive, and imaginative
It’s like a giant music video given this was the MTV generation
‘Dream Master’ leaves a great impression despite most franchises being so fatigued by so many fourth entries

Freddy was doing one liners since the first film! However, this was the birth of obnoxious one liners in the series.

He technically started to be a clown in part 3 but they still balanced the scares well so we didn't notice.

Rachel seriously thought Elm Street 1 and 3 didn't have stylish visuals??? Big talk coming from the director of the worst in the series.

15:10 Kincaid is definitely ready for Freddy!
That is a straight up lie. Because Joey and Kincaid don't even believe Kristen when she says Freddy is back. Kincaid dies 10 minutes into the movie.
