I am polytheistic, the Egyptian gods are what I focus on so I'm definitely appreciative of these videos that you make. Thank you for all your hard work.
Ah,yes. It probably had something to do with the fact that Set was the only god strong enough to help Ra beat up Apep every now and then. Which means he might be one of the few capable of massacring them all. Jokes aside, the original myth actually states he took Osiris,or Wesir, out on a walk alone near the Nile, before he proceeded to kill him through unknown means. It's taboo,so people didn't talk about how he killed him.
This is one of the Egyptian Gods I actually got interested in reading a bit about when I was in Middle School mainly because I wore shoes branded "Osiris"
The same color could represent multiple concepts. For example, Anubis has black skin. The black represents the body of a mummified corpse and the black soot of the Nile. Basically, it represents life and death as two sides of the same coin.
I became interested in ur channel because of the videos on Greek mythology but have found myself watching and rlly enjoying these other videos as well (more accurately watching everything on ur channel). Thinking I might as well subscribe
Brian Sanders Nephathys tricked Osiris into thinking she was Isis to bed him. I am not aware of any writing that states Seth knew about this nor any writing giving definitive fact that Osiris is the father of Anubis.
Jessica Bishop and she did it because seth couldn't have children and she desperaly wanted one. When Isis find out she didn't blame Anubis at all and even raised him... well, that's the version I know, I don't really know what happened to Nephathys to not raise the child she despeared wanted. BUT IN EVERY VERSION I KNOW OSIRIS WAS ALWAYS TRICKED.
I'm sorry to disappoint you, dear friends, but this account is largely attributed to Plutarch, and it's full accuracy is suspect. No one actually knows why Sutekh killed Wesir, although some say it was a kick. I'm not joking,it's apparently in the Pyramid Texts.
@@custosluna8433 Aside from that, there is one version where he isn't. It's said he raped her while drunk. There was no plan for a child. This probably has to do with the idea that Anubis, or Yinepu, was not originally a son of Wesir at all, but a son of Ra and an unknown figure, possibly his wife Hesat. He was also the original Khenty Imentiu,Lord of The Westerners,God of the Dead. The connection was thought to have been invented by Plutarch to include Anubis in the Osirian myth as well as connect events more expeditiously, as before this myth, Yinepu's full parentage was suspect . In other words,in the original myth, Yinepu was by and far Wesir's senior.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I read that one of the Osiris pieces was never found and that is why he wasn't resurrected the way he was supposed to. That part they say was never found said to be the heart or the third leg.
She cheated on set bro you got it backwards isis sister nethor love Osiris more than set and dressed up like isis to get to him so Osiris though that was isis .
Maybe the feathers on his headdress are meant to represent the weighing of a person's heart in order for them to leave the Duat and enter the Field of Reeds. Since Anubis would weigh one's heart to determine their worth.
And perhaps, for good reason. Late, but yes, kind of. In the oldest texts,Wesir's referred to in a somber manner, and is far more feared than loved. He lives in a silent world,no heaven, simply a dark, cold, sad place, and no mention of him being it's ruler is given,as by that time, the position still belonged to Anubis ( Yinepu),original ruler of the dead and later guide and holder of the Scales. In one version of the myth, Sutekh killed Wesir because his wife slept with Wesir. The exact circumstances differ. Older versions say he raped her while drunk, others say she,a twin of Isis ( Aset) in visage, tricked him and laid with him,for she wished to be with child and Sutekh in this version is not capable. Accounts of his death differ, too. Older sources say he and his brother went for a walk by the cataracts of the Nile. Only one came back. All in all, myths depict Wesir either as an imperfect, cruel man who nonetheless did his duty as king,or an ineffectual, yet supremely generous, kind and forgiving ideal of a king. Both versions are undercut by his aspect as king of the underworld, always thirsting for vengeance and justice for not only himself, but all wrongs made by men.
If i remember right 1 piece was eaten and that is why he was unable to come fully back to life. Its also the reason he is depicted in a less masculine way....
He's King of the underworld. The underworld or Duat is divided by 12 gates, each one guarded by a lesser, hellish god of the Deep. They all feast on those who do not know the Sacred Words, the Names that let them pass each door. When in wrath, they may bring havoc upon the living as they do for the dead. And in their master's wrath, it is assured.

Hey brother, wasn't part if the Egyptian creation story of Osiris being torn to bits and his sister wife Isis forming the earth itself from his body? His soul could only rule the underworld because he had no physical body to occupy.
Has there ever been a timeline/ version where Osiris was cruel or let's say multi faceted? Most of the stuff I've come across make him out to be old and wise (sort of he did get tricked a couple times)

It's not that they became gods upon death, they just would be revered as such, even though they were treated like gods in life, it was a transition from being revered as Ra, to being revered as Osiris, the sun, to a king of the dead
There is no single god of Ancient Egypt. If you're referring to the tradition of mortuary cults, they only persisted a bit after their deaths. Temporary, to allow room for the next guy.
They didn't replace there God's after death they believed they became immortal and that there souls would join the God's in there divine realm. When alive it was assumed that they were the emissaries of the God's on. Earth or were there direct progeny so had the right to rule.
Technically God,according to myth. His family tree is entirely made up of Gods, so it's safe to say he was no demigod or human,as he has no human blood.
