I agree that a lot of people like space, but I think the space in the trunk is too much for most people in a two-row vehicle. Unless you're hauling an entire team's soccer gear and camping gear everywhere you go, for most purposes, it's a commuter. Sacrificing a few ft of cargo room for a sportier, more nimble, less heavy, and a re-tuned engine would have been more attractive to a broader segment of people than what they did.
I just ordered one. It’s exactly what I want. I ordered the Turbo S in rhodium white with red leather.
Welp, the anticipation for cx70 was disappointing. I’m going to wait for the cx5 and see what that’s about for its redesign. If that’s better, I’ll go with that. I was really hoping for cx70
Amazing how the much shorter CRV has about the same interior capacity.
It's true, Honda is very good at ergonomics and efficient interior space. But, to be fair, a big part of the difference is Mazda's front-engine, rear-wheel-drive chassis configuration. Great for driving feel, but hinders offers cabin space.
A lot of folks thought Mazda would have given us something like the CX-60, but oh well. Hopefully the jerky transmission from the CX-90 has been resolved in the CX-70.
I was definitely surprised when I first saw it. I'm quite curious to see how it sells.
