Your ignorance shows for comparing Dior Haute Couture to commercial, lower quality leather goods products. Guess what, it is the same with sunglasses and shoes, and for every single luxury brand.
Yes, but these dresses were couture i.e. true luxury. The $50 euro bags are mass produced commercial items for the middle class to buy the concept of "luxury."
It's a very misleading statement. That $57 price came from an Italian investigation(...) and their calculation does not include raw materials (leather, metal, etc) which amounts for way more than the cost of labor. Basically that investigation only shines a bad light on... Italian employment practices in the luxury manufacturing industry bordering slavery (think about all the fools giving any credit to the "Made in Italy" tag). If Dior (and basically all the luxury brands who manufacture in Italy) can hire people to make a bag for $57 in labor (it's actually probably worth 5 hours of work, which is a lot for a tiny bag), good for them. Also, that markup is perfectly customary in the luxury business. Do you think your fancy T-shirts for sale way over $50 cost more than $2 in labor to manufacture?
Perception is everything, I remember saving up for my first LV and some coworkers automatically thought it was fake because I was a young black girl. At that point I really stopped caring what people's opinions were, people will always have their opinions based on how you look. After this I shopped in HIDUPZ . If you drive a Bentley and get out of the car with a fake Hermès, no one will question you.
Zanna's shoes in the last frame were also Dior. The bags are gorgeous but after the recent book tote scandal, I'm a little put-off about ever buying one.
Wait, before that "scandal" (which, if you read up on it isn't so much a "Dior" scandal but more an Italian scandal) you thought that the markup for luxury leather goods was less than 200%? 🤦🏻♂

The Assassin Creed costume during the opening ceremony was also Dior. BTW, the mentel horse galloping on the river, was a female rider, shes one of the metel horse designer. The horse is on display at its headquarter in Paris
The Dior( Marc Bohan) dress Elizabeth Taylor wore to her first Oscar win in 1961 was recently found in a suitcase.(!!) Hopefully her family will give it to the House of Dior. ❤
I don’t doubt the quality of Dior’s haute couture. I *DO* question the quality, ethics, and value proposition of the clothing and accessories found on boutique shelves. According to the Italian government, the production is much less elegant than the branding 😬
363 views after 6 days for a Today show piece during the 2024 Olympics? Is this a joke? My my have you fallen. What’s with all the British cohosts? So much for being American lol. Ps this piece was far too short but then again Dior probably begrudgingly let you in.

So damage control after the $53 bags

I wanted to see the $59 bags
Dior or Bernard Arnault's collaboration with the Paris Olympic Games brought LVMH so much publicity.
Wasn’t Dior the brand caught making handbags for $50, only to sell them for +$3,000?? 🤷🏼♂️

@@salflores1202 You cracked the code of the luxury industry's business model!
Was it $52 according to the court case for a bag that costs $3000?
A bad move for damage control. Consumers want transparency and integrity. This short segment will not help rebuild the brand.
"Rebuild" the brand?! Dior is the most profitable, largest luxury brand in the world... 🤦🏻♂
I love how they’re trying to get away from the back scandal. Please. 😑
Comparing Dior Haute Couture to their handbag business is like comparing Fiat to Ferrari. Idiotic.

Good, now show the sweatshops
Exactly!
There are no sweatshops for Dior Haute Couture. All is done in the most iconic ateliers in the world, in Paris.

7 months ago, thanks for the pointless info.

It's the same for all luxury manufacturing in Italy. If you want Dior high quality items, you have to buy the "Made in France" ones.
Shame for the bag scandal...just sharing the tiny bit of that supermargin would have prevented the ruin of the brand that CD built .
Is Olivia a male or female name in France?
Olivia is a female name in France and Olivier would be the male name .

Dior oh yea
Is this the house where they make the 53 dollar bags?

Dior cost $56 to make and sold for more than $3000. Scam!!
Yikes dress did not get cleaned
Adior
All that beautiful legacy ruined and watered down by LVMH and horrible creative director.
This is a 57 dollar house
House of dior?
Honey its dior sweat shop
