how i first got into the series! gonna be 10 years this year since i got into this franchise 🥹
Im glad they didnt give up on this series.
Ever since i finished Blood Drive and listened to the special messages to the player, i had hope the series would continue after the Sachiko arc ended. The bad rep Blood Drive got (and the wait time) made me think maybe they canceled the next arc that was promised by Satoshi (in the special message)
Blood Drive felt unfinished and the plot was too weird (which is saying something coz IT'S CORPSE PARTY) with the vanishing twin twist and the lack of horror compared to the other games plus Seiko's appearance being basically cut coz it was reduced to a ouija board chat + new characters that felt uncompelling (even the ones introduced in mangas like magari)
Blood Drive had a lot of things done right but the negatives outweighed the positives, thus the bad rep
@@nannaogashawarmabrendan I'm open minded when it comes to the seemingly random story elements. It's the hardware that annoyed me. The loading times, the 3D (keeping it 2D would have been great at least until after the Sachiko arc) and that GYM MUSIC!! 🎶

At this point I'm beginning to think the whole plot about how you shouldn't try to resurrect the dead because they might come back as horrifying monstrosities that relentlessly chase you down to destroy you and your legacy might have been a metaphor for Team Gris-gris as a whole.
I was really peeved at how little updates Dead Patient has got ..until I learned that it's a passion project with little to no funding behind it. Explains alot, and I'm still looking forward to seeing how that story will continue.

I mean, it's the original creators.. I think it can't be bad. I'm rlly glad to hear this. I'm a huge corpse party fan, but the sequels feel like some sort of spin-offs, book of shadows as pretty good actually, but nothing compares to the first game. I hope this makes me see the other games as non canon, with the franchise reviving to get the ending and it deserved I'll be satisfied. All corpse party ever needed is people that remember the game in a good and satisfying way. It's really sad it died like that

Sachiko's Hysteric Birthday bash was cannon if i remember right. The necklace Ayumi gets from Sachiko carries over
Book of Shadows & Blood Drive and the bonus chapter in the switch release are actual sequels.
And 100% Canon well the after parts & Blood Drive.
Preferably blood drive should just get deleted, like erased because it does nothjng but ruin the series
Pretty sure he's specifically talking about a sequel to the original 1996 PC-9801 game.
The promo seems to be in line with what little we know about the cancelled PC-9801 sequel Kedwin had planned back in 1999, _Satsuki's Heart,_ which apparently also inspired major elements of _Dead Patient, Blood Drive,_ and the newest extra chapter that was added to only the Switch version of _RepeatedFear._

Erm... I don't think it's quite accurate to say there were never sequels to Corpse Party, just side-stories, as Corpse Party: Blood Drive is very clearly a DIRECT SEQUEL to Corpse Party. It literally takes place immediately after the events of Corpse Party, and wraps up the entire Heavenly Host storyline... albeit in a very left-field, deus ex machina, not especially well-received way. But that doesn't change the fact that it is very undeniably a sequel rather than a side-story.
Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient also counts, even if it's incomplete -- it's still a further continuation of the story, several years later.
Technically, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows counts as well, since its final chapter is canonical and serves as the connecting point between Corpse Party and Corpse Party: Blood Drive -- though that's just one chapter out of eight, so overall, I think it's fair to call that one a side story rather than a true sequel.
But Blood Drive is a complete game and a true sequel, no question about it.

hell I'd wager that Stalker 2 HoC might get good amount of post launch content the second they're announcing chapter 2, and by the time GTA 6, Half Life 3 gets launched worldwide, I'm sure they're gonna kickstart the next chapters down on the line
After this many years, It's hard for me to believe it might return, but hey - recently we saw a new episode of Happy Tree Friends come out (a once-popular series I thought was long dead), so anything's possible I guess.
I really love this series mainly due to the how investing this big story is. But it's also the downside; the fact that Corpse Party has too big of a story is really hard to follow. There's a lot of lore which is fun, but also mind boggling. E.g. Some people who played Corpse Party Blood Covered doesn't know why Naho's existence persisted in the real world (Sayaka's in Blood Drive). And I don't remember where it's mentioned in the first game that having spiritual ability can maintain existence. Another example of how there's a lot of details in this series is the fact that even the wrong endings and spin offs are canon, which is confirmed by Corpse Party Blood Drive (e.g. Yoshiki remembering Asuza despite never meeting in their run in the school. Ayumi remembering the memento Sachiko gave to her than is from Sachiko Hysteric Birthday).
I need to know why are they making a whole new game instead of finally finishing Dead Patient. That game has been unfinished for a decade now. It's nice to hear that it's not outright dead, but instead of working on anything else they need to finish the game that they started.

Honestly don’t have high expectations given how blood drive went. Corpse Party was truly lightning in a bottle

It's not a direct sequel. Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion will have a completely original world, cast of characters and lore
So if anything it's an indirect sequel

This game is already over, they ruined it with so many unnecessary sequels, and terrible ones too, I really hope WE DON'T HAVE ANOTHER CORPSE PARTY GAME
