Something not mentioned. The change in the attitude of the people. Much more mercenary than before. Money is number 1. Overall the Thais are not as nice as before. I can do the comparison. I lived in Thailand 32 years. Read, write, and speak good Thai. Never accepted in Thai society. Foreigners are always regarded as outsiders. I have lived in Indonesia for the last 10 years. A much better country. The people are genuine, no fake smiles like in Thailand. Indonesia is like Thailand 40 years ago. Waiting for the comments on "Indonesia is a Muslim country". I will be happy to reply.

Thailand is one of the best countries I have ever visited . Have lived in another part of SE Asia but Thailand is amazing on many aspects. Never lived there though

@francoiswilliams less buggers, less beggars, people never bothered me to try and sell stuff, relaxing , stress less atmosphere, cleaner, food is great and spicy. One Con is more expensive . Mind you I have only been so far in Bangkok and Ko Mak in Trat province beautiful island but it's not massified by tourism. I'm sure other areas will be different .also crazy good weather in dry season. Same cannot be said of other neighbours.

It all really depend on different individual if the expats and retired from other countries, especially, from western America & Europe countries people, they were/are very rich people with their countries currency still strong enough and do not care much about their own safety life to having their saving to support them to stay and live in Thailand first and decide later for younger expats or retiree to enjoy their night life there, if they could/can secure a job there to live on if not still jobless they could leave and travel to choose another cheaper affordable countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippine there than to choose Singapore for excuses due to high living cost here and very safe life to live here that they never wanted. For rich and very rich people retiree they still prefer to stay in Thailand no matter what changes and taxes problem would/will not frighten them away because they already prepare and know they will still have big enough saving to support them to the end over there and they can still choose to live and stay away from those cities place like in Bangkok/Chiam Mai/Phuket to other parts and unpopular countryside province place in Thailand like Hua HIn, etc.
