This one is just heartbreaking. Jeremiah never stood a chance. His father abused him physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually, in all sorts of ways. And the only adults he trusted didn't do anything about it the entire time and even essentially sent him to jail. May he rest in peace where there's no more suffering

I read that too. That he was never taught to read and write as a child, even by the adults around him, never went to school? it implicates other adults in his abuse also. He impacts the viewer/me as very bright. Such a sad life and outcome. Those that failed him should be ashamed.

His obituary: Jeremiah took great pride in the care and raising of his animals. He loved them dearly. Jeremiah always looked forward to his Wednesdays spent at the sale barn, where he would help a local veterinarian treat the animals.

So they know that Jack had strongly mentioned killing and eating people before, beat the fuck out of his family and sexually abused them, but they don’t call the cops. Right? As crazy, violent, murderous and abusive as the guy apparently was, he still somehow got married four times and had so much support from people around him. He seems to have been enabled by a lot of people and they all let the children down terribly.
Well the fact that they ratted him out to the police, pointing fingers at him, etc. it kind of proves that he never had any support whatsoever. If I had an ex-husband like that, knowing what a godawful man he was, I would have kept my mouth shut, even if I knew my son may have been involved. Fuck it.
U would think but unfortunately there's entire families out there that are fukd up and have no problem sweeping problems under the rug. Most of my family was educated, wealthy, and to anyone one the outside seemed like exemplary ppl. But these ppl ignored the fact that I was being abused in every single way by my mother and my stepfather. Then when I became a problem teenager they acted like I was a horrible person. They did that to justify in their own sick minds that they did nothing wrong by not doing anything about the abuse.

Jack created his own killer. The abuse Jack inflicted shaped Jeremiah. It’s surprising but inspiring that Jeremiah feels such remorse for killing Jack. In spite of what he went through, he still has empathy and compassion.
His mother and grandmother knew those kids were being abused. They did nothing. But when the abuser is finally gone they go to the police? He was being brutally abused in disgusting ways. He was only 20 years old and he should have had a better life. This is so sad. He finally gets out of jail and is free but then passes away? Lord..
It was Jack's brother that went to police. Besides, living with such horribly violent, mentally and sexually abusive husbands would have meant the mother and grandmother endured years of abuse as well. That means they likely suffered from a severe case of Stockholm syndrome/battered woman syndrome. Considering how often police fails victims, leaving an abuser even to protect your children can actually be the more dangerous route. If you contact police and they end up doing nothing or the abuser only gets a small sentence - which is common - the mother and the children could be even worse abused and possibly killed once the father has the chance again. It is not so simple, unfortunately. Implementing better options for victims to leave (which is always an incredibly dangerous time), more safe houses and subsequent security protection are necessary if you want to save children from similar situations.
I feel like that was always going to be on the table for his final act. After everything he went through Including actual prison, I don't think there was any coming back from that.

If you pause and read through his journal entry at 37:55, Jeremiah implies that he was unable to read or write, until "Beth" (presumably, the owner of the Dog Hotel & Orchard) taught him how. One gets the sense from his very poor spelling but enthusiasm for putting everything down into journal entries that this literacy thing was a new and liberating thing for him - in fact, when he first mentions being taught to read and write, it came after a sentence where he stated that he now loves being alive (implying that he might not have before then). These details only makes what would ultimately be the extreme brevity of his literacy, and the doors that it might have opened up for him, only much more tragic. RIP Jeremiah. 😢

Sadly he was found dead later. He was sentenced in prison in 2009 for three years, in 2012 he was out and he apparently commit suicide. Everybody failed Jeremiah.
i hope his siblings are doing okay or in therapy because i cannot imagine seeing body parts severed from a persons body even seeing random videos online traumatized me.

Yeah me neither bud. If that was all true I wouldn’t know how to answer that. Edit to add: I know this is a common question asked by police, but given the circumstances if I unalived this person for those reasons I wouldn’t know how to answer that either since it was a justifiable unaliving.
it's not the worst question a cop could ask you. He was asking him what would he sentence himself to if he had to. it's actually a wise question, because even if the cop didn't want to charge him, people need a clear conscience, some people would sentence themselves. Sounds like he didn't care if he was innocent of doing harm, I can't tell.
This is actually a common question asked by investigators during questioning about a murder. Not sure how much you watch this channel but this is where I learned that. Very common question.

I’m still crying reading down all the comments. I was so pleased to see every single comment was in support of Jeremiah with big hearts and fury for what Jack did, the parents and grandparents are allowing it and then turning Jeremiah in, Jeremiah never should’ve been jailed, he should’ve been set up with medical care and Social Security. He was disabled mentally from all that trauma. He deserved a chance to heal.

Jeremiah didn't just snap - he was systematically broken and consistently failed until he finally just couldn't take it anymore. Then he confirmed that it was only him, taking more responsibility than most adults do in their lifetime. I hope he's at peace now, for all the horrors he was forced to endure at the hands of a man who should have been stopped a long time ago.
If he had been under 18 at the time of the crime he might have gotten the help he needed. But all of 2 yrs above that, he was given NOTHING. At least nothing he actually deserved, which was the love and care he was never given. Monsters all around him, poor kid.

It can always be worse. Theres a 10yr old girl I think of every day. 2003. Her parents were addicted to gambling and she was raising her 3 yr old sister. She would fix her food and even tuck her in at night. Well, two addicts that her parents sold fake meth to broke in and stabbed them both dozens of times and left them for dead. She survived, the sister she took care of didn't. She is now paralyzed from the waist down and blind in one eye. She says she is ok with it because things were much harder when she was taking care of her sister. That is what abuse does. Things were so hard at home, that the death of her sister and her disability are seen as a better alternative to continuing the way they were, and the abuse was simple neglect. She is probably 30 now, and I pray she is doing good.

I was happy to learn he only got 3yrs in prison but then they immediately followed it with saying he died soon after release at the age of 24, that's sad as fvck. Poor kid..

I don't like how you described this case. What his dad did was a nightmare. What he did was a closure. He stabbed his hands because those hands hurt him and other people so many times. He did what he had too. Obviously his dad got away with horrible things for so many years and no one ever did anything. @@hiyapal7719 Some parts of the diary are neatly and coherently written. Others are a jumbled mess. It wouldn't be at all surprising if he was "self medicating" and didn't write well at those times. And/or when he was very emotional.
Is sad that if you read his journal he actually had plans on moving on from his father, he wanted to read and write better, wanted to start working out, but is obvious how years of abuse damaged him. Also he seemed to have some sort of attachment to his father even if he was abusive, that or he was lying to himself.

The detective's making it sound like he can admit to everything because it was self defense is exactly why you don't talk to cops. They just want a confession. Defense attorneys nightmare talking to cops.
I think it's because of a widespread misunderstanding of the legal process. They say all kinds of bullshit about helping you but the reality is detectives/police are ONLY there to get enough to send to court and then they completely wipe their hands clean of you. They DO NOT care about you. Don't talk to cops.
It breaks my heart to see him being interrogated. I lived similar violences myself, even if it’s in a comparatively way less gruesome way, and I understand all too well. His diaries entries… him dissociating at first and suddenly breaking up and trying not to yell and cry before the gates closing yet again… the guilt he feels for participating in abuses of others even if coherced, for having a kind of love for his abuser despite his violence, the inability to live after that, the fact that he never was able to anyway… the knowledge that justice will not do anything for him… I am so sad he had to live this life. Sad to think he is not the only one, nor the worst.
I am actually shocked he was sentenced to only 3 years. Was any of the things he said about his dad killing and eating people substantiated? If so, this kid did the world a FAVOR. Only to mysteriously DIE as soon as he got out? This whole story is just INSANE.

His younger brother was arrested in 2015 for shooting at multiple neighbors saying he was going to kill and eat them. The trauma all these kids went through is insane. Never stood a chance with that man as a father
Why did sandra report him missing? The grandkids have been through hell, been forced to eat people and abused in every other way possible and she didn't feel a need to report or stop any of that. It was Jack's brother that went to police. Besides, living with such horribly violent, mentally and sexually abusive husbands would have meant the mother and grandmother endured years of abuse as well. That means they likely suffered from a severe case of Stockholm syndrome/battered woman syndrome. Considering how often police fails victims, leaving an abuser even to protect your children can actually be the more dangerous route. If you contact police and they end up doing nothing or the abuser only gets a small sentence - which is common - the mother and the children could be even worse abused and possibly killed once the father has the chance again. It is not so simple, unfortunately. Implementing better options for victims to leave (which is always an incredibly dangerous time), more safe houses and subsequent security protection are necessary if you want to save children from similar situations.
I feel like that was always going to be on the table for his final act. After everything he went through Including actual prison, I don't think there was any coming back from that.

If you pause and read through his journal entry at 37:55, Jeremiah implies that he was unable to read or write, until "Beth" (presumably, the owner of the Dog Hotel & Orchard) taught him how. One gets the sense from his very poor spelling but enthusiasm for putting everything down into journal entries that this literacy thing was a new and liberating thing for him - in fact, when he first mentions being taught to read and write, it came after a sentence where he stated that he now loves being alive (implying that he might not have before then). These details only makes what would ultimately be the extreme brevity of his literacy, and the doors that it might have opened up for him, only much more tragic. RIP Jeremiah. 😢

Sadly he was found dead later. He was sentenced in prison in 2009 for three years, in 2012 he was out and he apparently commit suicide. Everybody failed Jeremiah.

it's not the worst question a cop could ask you. He was asking him what would he sentence himself to if he had to. it's actually a wise question, because even if the cop didn't want to charge him, people need a clear conscience, some people would sentence themselves. Sounds like he didn't care if he was innocent of doing harm, I can't tell.
This is actually a common question asked by investigators during questioning about a murder. Not sure how much you watch this channel but this is where I learned that. Very common question.

I’m still crying reading down all the comments. I was so pleased to see every single comment was in support of Jeremiah with big hearts and fury for what Jack did, the parents and grandparents are allowing it and then turning Jeremiah in, Jeremiah never should’ve been jailed, he should’ve been set up with medical care and Social Security. He was disabled mentally from all that trauma. He deserved a chance to heal.

Jeremiah didn't just snap - he was systematically broken and consistently failed until he finally just couldn't take it anymore. Then he confirmed that it was only him, taking more responsibility than most adults do in their lifetime. I hope he's at peace now, for all the horrors he was forced to endure at the hands of a man who should have been stopped a long time ago.
If he had been under 18 at the time of the crime he might have gotten the help he needed. But all of 2 yrs above that, he was given NOTHING. At least nothing he actually deserved, which was the love and care he was never given. Monsters all around him, poor kid.

This one made me so upset. I have experienced trauma as a child which, compared to this, was a walk in the park. I weep for this man.
It can always be worse. Theres a 10yr old girl I think of every day. 2003. Her parents were addicted to gambling and she was raising her 3 yr old sister. She would fix her food and even tuck her in at night. Well, two addicts that her parents sold fake meth to broke in and stabbed them both dozens of times and left them for dead. She survived, the sister she took care of didn't. She is now paralyzed from the waist down and blind in one eye. She says she is ok with it because things were much harder when she was taking care of her sister. That is what abuse does. Things were so hard at home, that the death of her sister and her disability are seen as a better alternative to continuing the way they were, and the abuse was simple neglect. She is probably 30 now, and I pray she is doing good.

As others have said, he was clearly an intelligent and kind soul that lived a life full of horror. It is tragic that he never fully escaped his past. I honestly can't blame him for what he did.
I was happy to learn he only got 3yrs in prison but then they immediately followed it with saying he died soon after release at the age of 24, that's sad as fvck. Poor kid..

I don't like how you described this case. What his dad did was a nightmare. What he did was a closure. He stabbed his hands because those hands hurt him and other people so many times. He did what he had too. Obviously his dad got away with horrible things for so many years and no one ever did anything. Adults let him down and that boy did not have any chance and did what no one else would.

@@hiyapal7719 Some parts of the diary are neatly and coherently written. Others are a jumbled mess. It wouldn't be at all surprising if he was "self medicating" and didn't write well at those times. And/or when he was very emotional.
Is sad that if you read his journal he actually had plans on moving on from his father, he wanted to read and write better, wanted to start working out, but is obvious how years of abuse damaged him. Also he seemed to have some sort of attachment to his father even if he was abusive, that or he was lying to himself.

Jeremiah was the victim by the sounds of other people who knew Jack. What kind of witch is the grandma. She didn't want to deal with her son Jack to the point Jeremiah took out the trash and then she decided to do something. Foul.
The detective's making it sound like he can admit to everything because it was self defense is exactly why you don't talk to cops. They just want a confession. Defense attorneys nightmare talking to cops.
I think it's because of a widespread misunderstanding of the legal process. They say all kinds of bullshit about helping you but the reality is detectives/police are ONLY there to get enough to send to court and then they completely wipe their hands clean of you. They DO NOT care about you. Don't talk to cops.

It breaks my heart to see him being interrogated. I lived similar violences myself, even if it’s in a comparatively way less gruesome way, and I understand all too well. His diaries entries… him dissociating at first and suddenly breaking up and trying not to yell and cry before the gates closing yet again… the guilt he feels for participating in abuses of others even if coherced, for having a kind of love for his abuser despite his violence, the inability to live after that, the fact that he never was able to anyway… the knowledge that justice will not do anything for him… I am so sad he had to live this life. Sad to think he is not the only one, nor the worst.

I mean... Humon Bone Fragments were found, the family kind of said the same about Jack. The younger brother confirmed seeing Legs and Arms in the freezer, etc. I think, there was even an investigation later on on it.

His younger brother was arrested in 2015 for shooting at multiple neighbors saying he was going to kill and eat them. The trauma all these kids went through is insane. Never stood a chance with that man as a father
Why did sandra report him missing? The grandkids have been through hell, been forced to eat people and abused in every other way possible and she didn't feel a need to report or stop any of that. But now she's worried for the cannibal dad after having been married to her cannibal husband? Was she worried that he ended up in the freezer of one of the grandkids? Now the grandkids are living without the abuse she has something to report. Did she warn any of the 4 wives what Jack had in store for them or the kids? It just goes to show how truly corrupt the system is, He can't even keep his composure, he literally explained what a majority of humans will never experience in their entire lifetime have happen to him. And he's given jail time. They even asked him "what consequences should be given to someone who murdered your father." he asked for a second chance... He deserved a second chance. Yes given it is murder, he was physiologically disturbed as someone would expect given all that trauma. And in my eyes and many others i would see this as a form of self defense. As well as ridding another nuisance from this plane of existence his father was not human. Jeremiah just needed help and the system left him to sit in a cell for 3 years alone in his tortured mind. He was a innocent person put in another terrifying setting with actual killers and rvpist just like his mentally insane father. Another thing was the black magic aspect and how he stated his father would be reincarnated and how his father deciphered his victims and to get away with it for so long and to have them cases never be solved.
