  • My first brew in my new Fermzilla. Coopers European Lager as a first brew was interesting to say the least I was extremely unwell when making this video I stuffed the process and did it in a different order. Still, it turned out great.

    Just a quick tip... add your extract to the hot wort and mix in before you add to the fermenter. Much easier. Keen to see how this one turns out for ya'.

    I have home brewing for 18 yrs it would be easier buying a plastic bucket sanitising melting the beer kit with the beer enhancer and mixing very well then adding cold water then adding to your Fermzilla that way you won't melt it then add the rest of the water

    Thinking of getting into brewing myself just to experience it and see if it actually tastes decent. I have been looking at the Cooper's brew kit for a while but never got round to buy it.

      Hi Heath, I am a big fan of Cooper's stout. Very nice kit. I haven't made a lot Coopers kits at all so I haven't experienced the range as yet. I will probably get into more this year I think. Thanks for watching the video and thank you for your question. Cheers

    Is there a tasting video on this brew?

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  3 года назад +1

      Hi Nathan, You know! I don't think I did one. Being that I made this video a couple of years ago I vaguely remember it was the only beer that had exploded in my cupboard. I think it was not drinkable. Nothing like a good carb bomb at the start of you videos. If you are making this let me know how it goes

    Thanks guys. I have been waiting months for my Coopers kit it still as not arrived. This Coopers European lager I have ordered, the long wait to be able to drink it concerns me, Is there a beer kit that tastes a little like lager but can be drank sooner. Cheers.

    Hi. Brewing for my first time I have ordered coopers set with European larger. Very confused if I need to control the temperature or just let it be as it is. Cheers

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  4 года назад

      Hi I found if you follow the guide on the Coopers label you can't stuff it up. If the label says ferment at 18-24 c. It will turn out great. With lagers it is very important to ferment at a low controlled temperature but with extracts you don't have to worry about is as they have taken that into account. Have fun. It's a great hobby

      All good, I appreciate the fact you have concerns, I have a lot of people saying the same thing and it gets annoying. I also have many more telling me that it's not a problem. I know that in some cases hair can be dirty and have made adaptations in my brewing routine to cater for the minority as well as the rest. I myself don't believe touching your hair is unsanitary unless the said person is unhighgenic. I feel most people should be more concerned with microscopic saliva particles landing in the brew as we speak. Thanks for the chance to rant and hope you have a great one. Pierre

    Your hygiene was dreadful.
    I'll wager that the brew went off for that reason.

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  2 года назад

      Hey buddy thanks for watching. Quick question! What makes you think it I have bad hygiene?

    • @MichaelKingsfordGray
      @MichaelKingsfordGray 2 года назад +1

      @@SimpleHomeBrew Well, at the beginning, for instance, you placed the stirring paddle onto the filthy floor, and then re-used it!
      You didn't appear to put the lid on any container to exclude the nasty fungi that are floating in the air: all of the time.
      Best practice when stirring is to crack the lid open a bit, and stir it AFTER sterilising your hand and forearm.
      There is more that I observed, but those examples suffice to explain why I knew that the brew would turn sour.

    I started this kit 3 days ago and my thermometer needed battery's so I mixed the tin and the enhancer to 2lt of boiling water and topped up to 22lt left it half a hour and pitched my yeast. I have it fermenting at 14°c and it seems fine, do you think it will be OK if the water was still a bit warm when I pitched the yeast?

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  3 года назад

      Very nice. I think it will be just fine. I sometimes pitch my yeast forgetting to check the temp and still have great results.
