The Endurance was made incredibly well - I was reading on how the ship builders treated The Endurance as a passion project, as it was one of the last ships to be made like that.
"For scientific method, go with Scott. For speed and efficiency, go with Amundsen. But when disaster strikes and all hope is lost, get on your knees and pray for Shackleton."
It's always been a mystery to me why Scott got so much attention and recognition and Shackleton so comparatively little. Shackleton was a real leader and hero.

Have any of you tasted the whisky named in'his honour? Try the Shackleton. Reasonably good whisky. It is not a heavy, smoky sweet mash. Enjoy it in honour and memory of Sir Ernest and Frank Worsley.
i'm learning about shackelton at school, and we watched this video and it was amazing u put so much hard work in there and now i'm watching it at home :>
For anyone whose a fan of prog rock (Example Tool) check out Suns of the Tundra’s album Bones of Brave Ships. It was made to be played alongside screenings of this film, and with a Blu-Ray release of this finally coming in September I know damn well what I’ll be doing.
Long story short, Shackleton and a couple others took a small boat and found the whaling station they set off from and they sent ships to the rest of the crew. So much more epic than that though. I recommend checking out my video where I tell the whole story ruclips.net/video/4TH4en49RKI/видео.html
Just watched a Biographical on this dude! He's a freaking legend! A part that I found funny was he use of psychology on his men. He wouldn't allow food to be stockpiled while they were stranded. Convincing his men they wouldn't be staying long enough. And when some of his men where exausted and begging them for sleep. He allowed them some rest. However after only 5 minutes he woke them up telling them it had been half an hour. The had no idea and carried on
I don't think it'd take much sense to realize how long you'll be staying there. Looking at how long it took to get where they are, the food they had available, how long that food would last and the time it takes to get back to where they came seems like an obvious equation to solve for anyone aboard. Plus, if I'm tired and sleep for 5 mins after working all day, I'll know it's only been 5 mins if I'm woken up right after falling asleep. We're not retarded meat bags of humans. We actually have sense and we're aware of situations.
Check out the video I did on Shackleton and his men using this footage here!

The Endurance has endured, and has been found incredibly still in tact!

"To our wives and sweethearts..........may they never meet!!" was a regular toast aboard the Endurance and in the camps.
Fantastic quote

Considering the boat journey to Elephant Island, it's a miracle to have this footage survive.
S Georgia Is.?

The ship"s captain, Frank Worsley, deserves as least as much as Shackleton for the survival. Yet, no mention of him here???
I do him justice in the video I used this footage for. There were many heroes in this story ruclips.net/video/4TH4en49RKI/видео.html
Fascinating, thanks very much. Just subscribed
Fabulous
Awesome,Thanks
I love their bond with the animals it is so cute and how they are all so happy even though they are stuck in the South Pole.
Can't tell if this s a joke or not. LOL
Fantastic. The greatest feat of survival I have heard of!
The greatest feat that need not have occurred and amounted to nothing.
The crew survived and it seems the SHIP has also survived! how amazing is that??
The most epic successful failure of all time
I am here because they found the ship
What a story
This music is very misleading
Fact : on board they had 99 dogs
we learned about this in school yesterday

Dude I had no idea they were releasing a blu ray of this. I will DEFINITELY be doing this. THANK YOU!!
Were their dogs saved too, or did they eat them to stay alive?
They shot them and ate them. Also shot the ship's cat. :'(
Much better if this video get colorized, so that it will be look like new and lively
Disagree. Should be shown in its original state, aside from the remastering as much as possible.

Not stockpiling the food was a huge mistake. The men blamed him for it. His optimising was too great and they have suffered as a result.
Great video! I have always been interested in Shackleton's leadership skills.
