Not a normal boss battles but reverse boss battles! Yes, the big evil robot on the thumbnail is not an enemy. You are a bad guy, and fight against the pesky heroes.
By the way, there is 2 bosses which are impossible to defeat without taking damage. But i recorded other ones without getting hit, as usual.
Big thanks to Josh Hano, developer of Nefarious for gifting me a copy of the game.
Bosses in video:
[00:00] 1. SWAT van
[00:52] 2. Dash
[02:12] 3. Dr. Mechano
[03:48] 4. Guryon
[05:19] 5. 8-bit heroes
[07:52] 6. Treble Rangers
[09:18] 7. Mack
[11:11] 8. Dash and Guryon (Round 2)
[14:47] 9. Hyper Mack
[17:01] 10. Becky
[20:51] Good ending - Игры
I feel if most of the bosses against the heroes felt more like you're actually fighting a player, they'd be improved immensely. Shovel Knight's boss in Plague of Shadows is a great example of this; he doesn't have a set pattern, and instead runs around like a headless chicken and adapts to your attacks, using the throwing anchor when you're above him, using the phase locket if he's getting hit too much, using the war horn if he's trapped in a pit, learning to reflect your bombs in the latter half, and even healing up when at low health. Heck he even runs out of magic at some point and resorts to his shovel. The hero bosses should have employed similar tactics, not having actual patterns and instead reacting to your own patterns.
that's actually a really good idea
Different games need different styles, shovel knight’s a hard ass game.
@@XVINutkabob Well sure, but if a game's main selling point is playing as the villain and controlling bosses, I want the hero fights to feel like I'm fighting players. Have them act like complete morons in the first bit of the fight and start to learn from your attacks. Don't give them set patterns and instead make them mostly react to your own attacks. Have them try to pull the same dirty tricks players do like camping in a part of the arena you have difficulty hitting or buffing up and healing any chance they get.
@@ninjamaster9094 imagine the bee just hitting you rapidly because he’s a sonic expy, imagine the rpg guys spamming meteo, that’s an accurate way players play those games. Shovel knight’s replicated itself, Nefarious is trying to be a boss from multiple games
@@XVINutkabob Right, as I said if they were to replicate player behaviors they'd have to be limited quite a bit, and they'd still have to be actual bosses. I'm just saying that, in a game about playing as the boss, the heroes should be a little more unpredictable and show a few player tendencies.
*”Oh Mack, Sweetie, No.”*
*”No, No, No.”*
*”Not a chance.”*
Aw, bolts
Gauss (Mack): OBJECTION
Mayapple may be sweet, but this shows her rude, but still friendly side lol.
What
Oh I get it now
This game shows that the true power lies in being controlled by a player.
Too bad for you, heroes, you are not being controlled in this game!
Enjoy your "freedom".
So our capability of compete and gain visibility in world that makes us the true heroes, like while people that just go into an arcade to have fun and not going into far tickets prizes,we competitors will get always on top and show them what is the right direction and spend less money that this other percent can't
That summarizes it
That's makes a lot of sense and explains everything

And like that I have immense respect for Robotnik's pilotting skills
After watching this, I do agree with the majority view that the game looks very unpolished. And unfortunately the boss fights are not very engaging or well done. But the characters, the style, and the story were actually a pretty cool idea. Hopefully there's a sequel of some sort to improve where it's needed. Also Crow is a pretty awesome character
People seem to dig the story and art, so we made the sequel a graphic novel. www.patreon.com/JHano
I imagine in the sequel a new villain rises only for crow to get overly competitive with him
the bosses might not have the hihest skill requirment but its impossible to beat them the fastest way on your first try also atleast they put effort into the boss fights
It could be better, but let’s just be thankful it isn’t sonic boom bad
At least they didn't do that thing where you have to wait for the boss to cycle through repetitive attacks before being able to hit it
The theme of the game was very well executed but I feel the overall game itself is lacking in quite a few areas, especially sound design.
Especially everything**
@@gunbuckybucketman4578 The game is not that bad.
@@bruhkan457 But it's that bad.
GunBucky Bucketman It’s a low budget indie game. Let it stand on its own merits, and don’t compare it to those games on a whole different level. This is a flash game kinda deal - not good per se, but enjoyable.
@@l1ghtd3m0n3 If you say so.
Finally. A villain who is competent with his boss fights.
The game looks pretty rough, but I especially like the contrast of Crow and the heroes. Playing the heroes, you [probably would have found that they've got backstories and stuff. P{laying Crow, you find a one-=track villain who's got more snark undert his belt than most bad guys out there and a high degree of success, as well as (from their POV) one-track heroes. It really shines in that on one hand, you have the heroes beign played in most games, which makes the villain seem flatter, but when you shift control to the bad guy, suddenly the heroes look a lot less 3D.
I expected this game to be ass, but it's actually pretty good the way they've done and referenced everything. The only thing it could do with more of is sound effects and that's about it.
And better boss music
@@EffortLevelZeroProductions the boss music was good
cuando estan peleando contra 3 enemigos pecenios es un meme
And better soundtrack
12:57 i like how crows just mercilessly beating up gur
God, what an incredible game, indeed! I just bought it, today, what a great spend! It has gorgeous animation, great gameplay, even a fantastic soundtrack! Also, mad props to that RPG boss fight, which felt SO great, truly a marvelous Indie title, indeed!
That Dash fight.... a m a z i n g
The sonic references doe
@@MKMug Sonic + Mario.
@@user-lu3yu9vy8q replace that plus with an x
@@pieterhakim8806 I swear if it's a ship you are dead meat
It's good to see No Damage people are still alive, competition is good.
Aeraloth
No, Crow took a lot of damage against the heroes in Sukochi (the fire area). :P
J Dawg 25o damage is unavoidable in the 16-bit fight. You can't take out the attackers without getting hit. And Vs. The Doom Howitzer (sorry, I just want to say it from Mack's perspective) damage is impossible to dodge in the first phase, unlike in Vs. Princess Becky (she is the one taking damage)
Aeraloth I agree with you!
Does anyone else think that this would make a great comic series
Flaxen monster 38 styling
Josh Hano, the game's developer, does. He says he's actually considering making comics for the game. And if he does, I'm probably going to buy them.
That's just what we did! You can read them now at www.patreon.com/JHano
The creator already is making a comic series which can be funded on Patreon.
Bruh
if i renem er right, one of the deves makes bitf
This game has a cool concept but the battles are so underwhelming. And the sound design is... egh. The boss music also is super boring. The perspective is wonky sometimes too. Good potential, didn't end up being that great.
What do you think the sound of a wrecking ball smashing into concrete or a giant bug's body? The answer for both is the sound of slapping a desk with a mitten according to this game.
Personally I like the idea of reversed boss fights it's pretty cool
Heroes: Pretends to be better than you
Also heroes: Can't hit you a time and always loses
Me: Ok, you're bossy and weak.
I love how Dash round 1 was a reference for sonic 1 first boss
This should get a remake out of every game this in my opinion needs it the most maybe he have voice acting that'd be fun!
That was nice dude. Really pleasant and full of great messages.
the rejection in the end... the feels
This game makes me feel conflicted. There's an obvious lack of polish to it (Frankly it sorta feels like a really good flash game). But the characters and premise are pretty nice...
Certainly a game i'd like to see a sequel to with a bigger budget.
At least the comics exist so there's more Crow to go around. :P
Even though the concept and idea for this game are ridiculously cool, it's executed.. kinda poorly. It feels like an unfinished, early prototype. A lot of things seem to be lacking animations or proper sprites, the sound design *sounds* off, and, well, it just feels unfinished.
Y'know, with a bit of story tweeking, some better sound design, and re-designed sprites and gameplay, this could be the next big thing... oWo
All these comments sound the same... Why do I feel like this game was like mighty no 9? Good artwork but bad gameplay?
The music and sound in this video seem fine to me. Hopefully people are talking about an older version...
Gresh Zuki naw the gameplay does feel unpolished, but the story was fun enough for me to keep going
@@greshzuki8234 Nah, some sound effects are missing in this video, the game that I played had more sound effects.
Better than adventneon's taco Bell sounds
crow truly is a true bad guy
(style, team, almost won all he missing a a real friendenemy or nemesis)
In every level of THE game,it feels like your player is a boss
well he's a supervillain right?
did you respond me after 4 years?

3:55 koopas revenge boss fight in a nutshell
Which one
Why am I imagining the bad guy you're playing as should have a similar voice to Invader Zim?
Feel like this game could use a powerful sequel.
Just for the record, I have no idea what is going on (story wise) with the Becky Fight. One moment, you are finished on Hyper Mack, the next you are fighting the very boss you used to fight Hyper Mack? As the Princesses? What?
I think that's a different ending. The "good" ending of the game, not sure what the requirements are, but basically if you do a certain thing diferen't in the end you get to play as the princess and save everyone, while in the ending where you control the final weapon you take over the world and the ending shows her escaping and implying there is another ending.
Yep, depending on your choice, you'll fight Hyper Mack and that leads to the bad ending, or you'll fight Becky and that leads to the good ending. I had to cut the story before these fights, because damn sony vegas keeps crashing whenever it attempts to render that part.
Gellot What exactly do you have to do to be able to fight Becky?
mack MAXER2392 you have to pick on second thought... then you can fight Becky
@Noah Maldonado your a tad on the reply, my dude
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE VDEOS definitley going in Favourite videos
holy great! i luv your work!
the amount of video game references is amazing
I don't know why but these boss battles look so damn unimpressive
ReportTM Musterknâbe thats because the player is the bad guy and the BOSS, not the so called "boss" who are the heros?
Might be the sound design. It seemed to be lacking in quite a few departments.
they are pretty fun to play though
I'm talking about the fights not his appearance..they look so dull
Yeah, I think its mostly because of sound design .-. Nothing seems to have quite "oomph" to it
the only things which got me interested in this game were the artwork by gashigashi and the idea of being the villain. But the ingame graphics and the soundtrack are so hideous that I stopped caring :x
U didn't have to do em like that
Why does the sound seem messed up on this? It seems like any sound effects that are meant to be coming from the heroes are cut out? I clearly remember sound effects during the bug hero's attacks, and sound effects when the Viking attacks as well as boing sounds when you squish him.
Right, that's what I was thinking as well!
The game barely met it's funding goal on Kickstarter. The sound unfortunately suffered for it
18:33 and around is very reminiscent of the Sandopolis music theme from Sonic
this is such a jarring game holy shit
fake h g
you do know she's not bullet proof, right?
*logic 100*
You get to play as the villain? COOL.
Well, the idea is indeed cool, but the realization is cheap.
4:18 wait Zorbie’s moveset from Indie Pogo?. Also I love all the references. Sonic and Final Fantasy are a few of them
I didn't need my ears anyway. 19:10
10:00
2:02 this sonic game is amazing what it’s not sonic well they did a better sonic game then saga ever did
H MasterChaos or any 90s mascot animal things
a video game that has a villan as the protagonist? SOLD
Ah..I remember When I Watch this video Several years ago
You forgot the fight against Mack in the first level.
Oh wait...
Wow This is awesome!
52:00 Take note, Robotinik! If you want your ball and chain mecha do be a threat: DO THIS!
Lanky macCrazyhair lol
Lanky macCrazyhair you mean 00:52
You goof.
Huh, the first ever game with reverse bosses Great idea Josh Hano
It's not there's a flash game that did the same thing
It was called kill the plumber.
I love eating Ham with my Evil Chips.
EVIL ham.
I dont know why im commenting 2 years later but...
To those who haven't done the reverse boss fights...
The reverse boss fights at the end are very difficult, dont underestimate
Me personally it took like 7 tries to finish all of them
skill issue
A game where you play the villain? YES PLEASE.
I've heard the sound effect of Mack's attack at 16:48 somewhere else. It sounds so familiar, but I can't remember where else it's from... Anyone know?
Jesus christ, the amount of references in this game, i swear to god...
Guys this wasn't made to be a good game it was made as a gift to those who support the comics
0:57 - Dr. Eggman called. He wants the Egg Mobile back.
I love the final boss music
Huh, the villain as main character of the story... Actually this can be seen sometimes, but when it comes to games in this way (you're the one who controls the giant doomsday thing!), is pretty cool.
Poor Crow.
I hope he's okay.
;-;
Random Elsen 25:27 Hes ok.
2:20 look like crown car from super mario world
probably on purpose.
doublebl bird4 No!
You mean clown car right? Ya furry
I like how he cannot call it no damige cus you can't avoid takeing damige in the ff like battle also good videos I have been watching a lot of them and I just now subbed
@@orenblack313 I fucked up damage and taking. But ya know typing can be hard sometimes if ya have brain scars why you gonna go and be a dick on a 5 year old comment
when the game's bosses are so easy that every run is a no damage run
Have to admit, i like this game only because of cool concept, character design and extra artworks drawn by *mother-of-god* gashi-gashi.
tf2 demoman in nefarious is crow
What makes me a good Demoman?
This dr. Mechanic guy took a lot of inspiration from king bowser, a clown car, a throw bombs at his face tactic to kill him, stealing a princess!
What is the music that plays before oh fight the treble rangers?
This a entire game is like “how the tables turn”
Mack looks cool when talking and when he is fighting his face changes
So what, you play as the major villain of every video game series now?
The 2nd boss fight was based off of sonic 1 boss fight in green hills zone and the 4th is kinda like the death egg robot from sonic 3.
Crow totaly will defeat sonic boom characters
I recently got this game. I love it. but I learned there are two endings. but I did everything I could and I never found a lab stage. how do you reach that? I really want to get the good ending.
You need to talk to Mayapple after freeing Farrah's sisters (and probably reading those terminals, too).
You can get there by taking a leap of faith into a pit, just a short walk after breaking Farrah out. It's not very obvious.
Never heard of this one... i like the idea of being villain. Edit: what console is this on?
Who will win:?
Crow's: advance fly machine
dr. Mechano: fly machine with face
Crow is zim and megman if they did a fusion
It took me 3 bosses to figure out you were the bad guy.
I dunno why, but this reminds me of a musical "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along blog" and of Sonic games for some reason.
15:23 im pretty sure thats the same sound used in starbound for certain guns?
Hey guys it's the game Persona 3 & Knuckles Mega Man X Ft. Dante from the Devil May Cry series
this game appears to have a nasty lack of sound effects... i think thats the thing making all these bosses look unimpressive...
The actual game has more sound effects, some are missing in this video.
the laser sound is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
so scary
Did you noticed some of the sound efects they use the sound effects are also from Starbound`s sound effect
I’m trying to gather some quotes from Crow I can use to voice act, I can’t seem to find enough.
Who did the art (not the pixel sprites, but the icons and cover art) for the game? It looks a lot like a Japanese artist who's based on Pixiv who I've been following for a few years.
Pretty sure it's Gashi Gashi.
I hope there are other games with Villain Protagonists with them...
Wow! This game is chock full of references to other games.
Now is the time your can become a boss battle
I don't think you've done a misadventures of tron bonne no damage boss video yet.
7:51 what theme is this? I heard it in a few other games
Who do you play as in this game
Bowser: HEY YOUR RIPING OFF MY CLOWN COPTER
This is the most rarest video I ever washed
where can I get this game looks cool?
1:25 OH MY GOD! EGGMAN REFERENCE :O
even on 2:45 it is a reference

1:00:00 ???
Fallon: *literally heals every turn*
Nooooooo!!! This isn't possible! I cannot be defeated!
now thats a good game
Crow is so cool, he doesn’t even look where he’s throwing.
Also. In America, you face the boss. In Soviet Russia, YOU ARE THE BOSS.
14:01 He just walked with his foot crushing their bones... NICE
bee boy lived! yay! im crying of happiness!
Alright... hold up.
I find it highly amusing that almost all of your thumbnails for your Boss Battles videos are some sort of giant face / torso.
:D
