6:21 What you say is spot on. One reason I go to channels like yours is so I can discover new music, whether it is newly produced or old music I missed. It has made me realise that people will always make great music no matter what year they are living in. It raises my heart knowing every generation does great art but it up to us to seek it.
Amazing what beauty two artists can achieve when they get together. This was fantastic!! The perfect match for a good cause. My own favourite Jacob Collier performance is Little Blue Mahogany session and find great comfort within it. Great choice today!! Keep them coming.
I would recommend starting your Jacob journey in chronological order so you can experience his growth as a unique and gifted artist. You haven’t heard of him because he has no interest in being popular. He just does what he loves. It’s not just that he’s a gifted multi-instrumentalist, he’s also an arranger, a composer, a teacher and a very humble and sincere human being. Flintstones - his second Grammy (I think). It’s an acapella arrangement, done in his bedroom when he was 17 on his MacBook. It’s fun. It’s a start. All night long - another Grammy. He brought together all sorts of artists for this Lionel Richie hit and again, arranged it and did the video himself in his bedroom, on his MacBook. It’s unbelievable, and I do not use that word lightly. MoonRiver - This is his masterpiece (imho). You have never heard an acapella song like this, I guarantee it. And then, when you think you’ve seen it all, move on to any of his live concert videos. Since you love the language of the body, you will really appreciate what he does on stage and how he connects with his audiences. I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life. Everything from Queen to Kiss, from Madonna to Pavarotti. The four times I’ve seen him were the best concerts I’ve seen in my lifetime. The late Quincy Jones called Jacob the most amazing talent he’s ever encountered in his life. That would include Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson who he produced for. Have fun!
Yes! Jacob, Ren and AURORA are on the level of the greatest of the sixties. We forget there was crappy popular music then, too. Jacob comes from classical music royalty. Go down his rabbit hole… he won six Grammys.
I’ve been waiting for this 😍😍 I absolutely looove this performance, and the ending hits me hard every time🥺💚💙 I think there’s quite a lot great music nowadays 👍 The mittens Aurora wears is a typical Norwegian mittens called Selbuvotter (Selbumittens). Selbu is a small Norwegian village, so Selbuvotter is an own brand👍🥰
I think even if you put Aurora in a trash bag, she'll still look good in it ❤. She and her sister Viktoria have a knack for fashionable, simple combinations. I also believe that Scandinavians simply fit into a harsh milieu for genetic reasons 😂. It was definitely cold and it certainly wasn't easy to hit and hold the notes. After all, you breathe in cold air and then breathe it out through your vocal cords😮. And then your smile when Aurora appears... that's what everyone who saw the video had. Yes - we just love Aurora. It's actually also interesting that most people didn't know Jacob and only became aware of him through this video. He has so many things on RUclips, really strange. These two voices together are a "match making in heaven" and the fact that Aurora jumps a note higher in the last scream (14:59) only reinforces the message of the video. Thanks for this reaction...
Great review. Do check out Jacob. You will not be disappointed - rather, you will feel the joy of what he brings to the table. From his early videos (Moon River, In the Early Morning, etc., etc.) to his sessions with Mahogany, to his audience choirs, and two of his latest two pieces: World O World and Stars. He is certainly gifted with his music, but even more so as a kind, generous, and compassionate person. Enjoy .... I did.
Great reaction to this awesome collaboration! 👍🤟 I agree with you, people who say there is no good music today are lazy and close-minded. And I say that as someone who grew up in the "golden era" of modern music. There is some awesome music being produced these days, and no greater example of that is these two fantastic artists.
In our youth and that of our parents, the radio was the most accessible way to broadcast music to the greatest number. And each generation found that the music of its own youth was the best even if it was influenced by the previous ones. The Internet has changed and shaken all that up. Radios are less listened to and what is broadcast there is generally what is more commercial. Business is business. But the Internet has allowed young talents to become known, for example Jacob (first videos at barely 16 years old), Ren (who did not have a label), Aurora, an elf from northern Europe who inspired Billie Ellish or Dimash from faraway Kazakhstan. I know that there is everything and anything on the Internet, but without it we would never have discovered such artists. It is up to us to be curious, up to us to make them known. I had the pleasure of attending an Aurora concert and one by Jacob recently. They don't need radios and TVs to fill all the halls of their international tours. It was magical and deeply human.
Really enjoyed and appreciated your reaction to this :) Going by your taste as I understand it from some of your other videos - you're in for such an amazing journey with Jacob Collier, whether you film reactions for it or not. (but we'd love to see it!) His Mahogany Session version of his song 'Little Blue' will probably be the most suggested - because its an incredible and recent thing he's done. He makes a lot of different kinds of music - some very instrument based and soulful like you see him at the piano here and some other stuff that is far - out and that I don't want to spoil any of it for you. Pick any direction and go and your set I think, he is unreal live so live stuff might be a good rough direction - but going by how you resonate with feel and expression in some of your AURORA videos for example - I think you would absolutely adore: his version of 'Fix You' by Coldplay that he did for an event called THEREWITHCARE. Just him, his voice and his piano - in his room during lockdown - and it is, just about, one of the most beautiful things I think I've ever heard. And I can't leave out his re-imagining of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' that he did with Tori Kelly, John Legend and all done in acapella, built off a candid phone recording of YEBBA singing it in her dressing room one day. There's a live version of that at the Greek Theatre in LA if you prefer live stuff too - but both versions are out of this world :) (and I want to say huge respect for the point you made at about 1:30 in - because that is such a huge cultural phenomenon and I wish more people would - even if not agree - at least discuss. Im 34 - i'm a huge fan of music from the past decades, but I discovered all of them in retrospect. The 3 best, most exciting and meaningful albums of my life so far - came out in 2024, this damn year! AURORA's What Happened To The Heart?, Jacob Colliers 'DJESSE Vol 4' and Billie Eilish's 'Hit Me Hard And Soft' - i'm convinced you can pick any point in cultural history and observe the same attitude - for music and tons of other stuff in life. Incredible art is being made every year, you just have to be willing to look for it and open minded enough to see what it's trying to show you - instead of projecting onto it what you want to see - I think and hope a lot of people have an attitude like this too out there.) Anyway, loved your thoughts and thanks for the video :)
Hello Momma! Thank you as always great and heartwarming reaction. For me this is the best collab this decade. Aurora is always the Queen. But Jacob collier are an multiinstrumentalist and he is damned good at it. A song you should do is Jacob collier little blue - The mahogany session that one should make you cry and LOVE. It shows his greatness.
Two great artists for a great cause. Best collaboration of the year. I would bet this is the first time in history that this area heard music and how wonderful it was. BTW, Happy Thanksgiving.
Amazing cooperation of both great artists. I love Aurora from longer time and he is also very talented artist (this cooperation was my introduction with this artist). Of course it is also good and important cause. And this primal cry on the end...
I’m glad I’ve been exposed to Aurora. I grew up in sixties and seventies and agree the music is great. But stumbling on Aurora two years ago has been a major blessing. Tomorrow, Friday I am going to see her in Chicago. So blessed😊❤
@@Roy-mw5js let us k now how it was, although I've got a feeling what your response will be. Have tickets for Wash DC for Sunday the 8th. I'm traveling 1000 miles with hotel and flight and I'm sure it will be worth it. I feel I won't be the same person after. I'm already not the same person after finding her two+ years ago
Hi Momma, how did Jacob play the piano without getting frostbite 😅 also how did the piano stay in tune ? When Aurora arrived like magic poof , goosebumps.... what a fantastic collaboration, awesome. Glad Aurora had boots on 😅 The scream at the end got me ....😊
It was an unusual warm summer on Svalbard this year, and also in September when this performance was. But it was a bit cold nevertheless, so Aurora warmed his hands in between❤️ He said it was difficult, after all he couldn’t wear mittens like Aurora could💕
I was waiting for you to react to this masterpiece. Both Aurora and Jacob are great together and the reason for this project is even better. You should definitely check out Jacob Collier and of course, more Aurora gems. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family MommaOG, God bless 🙏💙
This was a dream collab for me tbh. Jacob Collier is definitely an incredible artist. He plays around with so many styles that it's hard to recommend any that can give you a full picture of his music, but maybe "All Night Long," "Little Blue (Mahogany Sessions)," "Moon River," and "All I Need" would be good to start? Also honorable mentions: "WELLLL," "With The Love In My Heart," "Don't You Know (live w Snarky Puppy)" .....oh god I'm gonna stop now or else I'm just gonna list all of his songs 😂 Also Jacob is often referred to as "your favorite musician's favorite musician," and things along those lines, so you have a whole load of rabbit holes that he will lead you to!
the reality is a bit more grim, greenpeace did a decent job with this few seconds. greedy people like to harvest manganese nodules (beside the fossile energy resources and what not) from the deep sea ground. the life down there runs on another pace and still, in the name of prosperity we need to destroy it. even if only 10% or less of the life forms are discovered yet. don't forget to come back to aurora every now and than.
Quite. This is very, very powerful and that sung yell is devastation in sound. AS to music from the '60s and '70s, there was a lot of rubbish then, most of it was mediocre and is now not heard. What we do hear was the best of it. Yes, a time of great change in the music world, due to the fast change in recording studios and The Beatles.
If you want to check out more Collier then you should definitely go to "Little Blue", Mahogny Sessions. He sings his song with some fans in what looks like a large abandoned church. You will cry your eyes out. It's humanity at it's best

There is amazing music today. You have to search a bit, but it's there.
could not agree more. it's just not on the radio like it was.
@Dave-hb7lx spot on
Have fun in the Jacob rabbit hole. It's the best place to be on the whole planet. You'll see

Oh also do be sure to check out the original version of A Rock Somewhere! It features Anoushka Shankar (Daughter of THE Ravi Shankar)
