A lot of “guides” are just showing the build without the substance of understanding the character itself first. You give us good insights about abilities, upgrades, buys, team play, playstyle…. all the goods and THEN give us a build video. I bet it’s a shit ton of work but I can’t explain enough how genuinely good and effective your vids are!

Loved the video mate! Wanted to add that lucky shot might be worth considering as when it procs it doubles the card progression rate for that bullet (at least that’s the impression I got from reading the discord). Might already be in the video tomorrow but if you didn’t know, now you know!
@@harryhab2 I love playing wraith, and I have to agree with smeefu that the hybrid 6200s (crippling headshot and leech) are just too good on wraith if you have extra souls to spend. She makes full use of those items like almost no other hero can. I'd say lucky shot is a good option if you really just want to splitpush and take down objectives, because you can crit objectives just like everything else. But for general gameplay, I like the hybrid items better.
I have been building Mystic Burst over Extra Charge because I don't see a use for an extra card slot when most of the time I won't even have 2 cards ready. I'll be using them to clear waves or poke or fight. Mystic Burst lets me poke much harder.
Great information in this video, but I'd love to see actual examples of the gameplay talking about each item/ability when you mention it. For the most part, it's just a bunch of random gameplay so this could very well just be a podcast. :P
taimou's wraith build is one of my faves id reccomend dropping infuser for spirit strike if youre gonna use melee lifesteal as well +25% melee dmg when you have both its kinda nuts and if you use your cards after you melee the damage is only a little less than with infuser also ammo scav is great on her 28 spirit power for 500 souls its so good ill normally keep it the whole game
Alternative opinion for ability upgrade path, start with card trick for extra charge then next points go into the tp to increase range, then next 3 points into the 3 to get the bonus spirit dmg per bullet, then next into telekensis for cooldown and duration (3 points) then focus on maxing tp, then 3 (rate of fire ability) then telekenisis, wraith excels in 1v1s and maxing out her tp early is much more vital than maxing her ult which is only useful in 1v2,3....
maxing out the ult is insane for team fights, not just 1vX, and it’s insane for midboss too. there’s no possible way i can ever justify skipping the 2nd point in cards, it’s way too much damage this early to skip. but yeah you can certainly go another path than ult rush, i just have to get the first 2 points in cards fast.
Wraith's ult has the best final upgrade for teamfights, so you definitely want it by the time you're going to teamfight. In higher elo where smeefu plays, fights happen earlier and are more crucial to the game, so it makes sense to max ult first. But in my elo, I find that I can max another ability first and max ult second, and it lines up pretty well with when I want to start taking teamfights. It's good to adapt your build and skill order to the games you find yourself in; if those games don't look like high elo games, then sometimes your build doesn't have to exactly follow high elo builds.
@@smeefu yeah i usually give up wave pressure, focus on denying and getting my lasthits, small harass to keep the enemy in check, then after i have mag/charge/burst i start to harass the enemy out of lane.

i would still use it, still an extremely strong item in lane especially for a hero like pocket. just proc it with a light melee now whenever you go in or whenever someone goes in on you.
For all my fellows that want to know why wraith actually sucks early game. Step 1: immediately push her out when laning starts, she won't have a card up yet and since her early game dps sucks (almost as bad as dynamo without his fire rate buff) there is 0 threat in playing this aggro early. Step 2: buy point ward, this gives you EXACTLY 80 spirit shield that nothing can break EXCEPT CARD. Meaning that now not only are you just doing more gun dmg than her, BUT NOW you can tank a card FOR FREE! Step 3: continue playing around the spirit shield until you snowball the lane out of control, DON'T GIVE HER ROOM TO BREATHE! The moment wraith can comfortably clear lane and take camps the game is over, her camp clearing with tesla bullets is too strong and her late game is bar none the best in the game. NEVER LET HER GET TO THIS POINT! Besides from all this, enjoyed the guide. As a wraith player and just overall deadlock enjoyer I can respect the advice given to the comminuty, that being said this street is 2 ways. (also I am low-key sick of ppl saying wraith is good early cuz she is NOT)
wraith is VERY good early, especially COMPARED to the other carries. no other carry has the damage output she has so early. spirit shields have long cooldown so wraith can work around those, only real problem is enchanters barrier but most heroes don’t want to buy that. she’s great most of the time, but i agree she has some stuff you can itemize to make fighting her easier, and she doesn’t do well against the lane powerhouses like viscous or bebop. point is just that she’s great early for a carry, strongest by far of the few
also, her late game isn’t even close to being the best in the game, haze and seven maybe even infernus have better late game. tesla bullets is one of the worst items in the game right now since the new patch made its internal cooldown almost double what it was before giving you half the procs as usual.
@@smeefu Maybe it's because I havn't played much of characters like bebop, but when compared to haze, infernus, and even ivy. Wraith's early is super rough against even the slightest of aggressive characters. The whole thing around playing around spirit shields is 100% true, but also think about how hard it is gonna be for a wraith to farm card while under constant poke, without card she can't win a 1v1, even with rapid fire in some cases. So either she conceeds a ton of hp to farm card and ssouls off creeps, or conceeds tons of farm to dmg trade. Also as somebody who has played most characters (besides abrhams bebop and dynamo) I can say that wraith's late game is the most oppressive. Maybe it's the build I use (cuz I do use a build that is inheritly meant for carrying) because I easily 1v4 teams. Even when they have good shutdown since wraith has the single best get out of jail free card in the game (the 20M+ tp on a 11ish cd)
@@smeefu True, tesla was nerfed, but think about how many times she can proc it in one clip anyways. While farming it becomes her best dmg source since she shoots for so long and solves her single target problem while shooting. Obviously you would sell it later but compared to literally every other 3k option. For camp farming and wave clearing I have seen none better than tesla.
@@theepicgameboss it doesn’t matter, many other items are gonna give you more value for the same price because of this. just not worth anymore, item is horrible. intensifying mag is gonna give you almost 100% extra weapon damage while farming as you keep the buff up with quicksilver reload and active reload, WAY better item for farm speed, and also way better for pvp
i'm top 2000 atm but really couldn't get wraith to work for me untill i tried her out with this guide in mind, consistently doing good on her now, good shit smeefu
@smeefu do you have recommendations on keybinds? I find it hard to manage all the combos with the default setup. Seeing you slide all the way around, spamming combos hitting the right keys is amazing and I can't grasp it
full build video tomorrow, but these items are just bad. ricochet doesnt do enough for wraith with the price, for haze it makes her ult insane and for infernus it applies afterburn to more targets but what does it do for wraith? nothing good. tesla bullets are bugged right now and have their internal cooldown doubled, resulting in half the procs than from before.
they are absolutely horrible, plus the new patch bugged them out hard so the internal cooldown is double the length it is meant to be making them proc basically half the time they used to, awful.

@@the_odr9166 they arent THAT bad on wraith when they aren’t bugged, it does give her a farming speed spike but she really doesn’t need them to proc things like BRS as she has full auto and cards for that. so i just find it hard to spend 3k and a slot on the item when there are so many better items and your farming speed is still crazy fast
You said that she got poor AoE, but have you tried going Ricochet, that's the only thing you need to make her clear all and everything.. tho it's expencive, and you rarely get it/want it early b4 active reload and all that good stuff, it's still maybe my favourite upgrade on her.. :3
i just cant justify buying this item on wraith, it doesnt do enough for her. with haze it makes her ult incredible, infernus applies his afterburn to multiple targets, but wraith basically gets nothing other than some shared situation damage, too expensive for this hero i think :)
A lot of times I feel like I can't get the burst right when ulting someone. what's your order when shooting someone you ulted? I would assume shooting first as it's easiest when they are locked (with full auto, though I like to imbue QSR with it to always make use of the skill), then cards as they are easier to hit/track. but I see many ppl throwing the cards while the enemy is lifted - isn't that suboptimal?
throwing cards while they are lifted is only good if you need to reload and have card as the bind for QSR, or if you need to proc bullet resist shred as you have full auto on cooldown, OR if you are doing a spirit build. if you are doing the SUPERIOR gun build, then yeah throwing cards later into the game slows down your dps a lot. i like to lift em, then immediately pop full auto as it hits them and track their head upwards and beam it.

I found myself super starved for flex slots especially around green and weapon items = any advice around that? basically couldn't buy a 6k item without selling a core item. bonus question: I noticed that titanic mag and the 2nd recharge item are not shown on the build, is that on purpose as we should sell them? titanic mag at least seems like a no brainer (especially if cards fall off late)
that’s 3 ability points, the second talent in card trick will cost 2. and even if you couldn’t, of course this would mean you just save the points until the ult is unlocked.
Why not Shadow Weave on her? This item has everything you want : invis to gank, spirit, fire rate, ammo, shield, huge health regen to keep ganking and never go back to base. How I play her is : find a high value target, go invisible with shadow weave, from invisibility use Telekinesis, Full Auto, Empty your mag, Card trick (which reload your gun with quicksilver reload), empty your mag again. No one can survive that, then project mind away. Easiest ganker to play in this game.
@@smeefu I've seen it but disagree with how you play her. Wraith scale very well with fire rate and spirit. She is a very bursty hero, go in burst, go out with project mind. You are building her like you want to keep firing and stay in the middle of the fight like Haze and I think it works for you because you have good mecanics overall. And this is clearly not the playstyle designers want to encourage. Her in game description is very clear on that : "Excelling at one-on-one combat, Wraith isolates targets, eliminating them with ruthless efficiency. then teleporting away before anyone can retaliate."
I'm not 100% sure but melees don't charge your cards right? So I don't think melee lifesteal is a great item for wraith (it is great in general). Your cards are extremely good poke and burst if the enemy pushes. Just buy close quarters for example to make your gun better and charge your cards. Moreover idk if leech is actually worth it because you have quite a lot of lifesteal from full auto, bullet lifesteal and if you buy it vampiric burst.
melee does charge cards. but in the full build video tomorrow you will see i also recommend spirit strike, these items together make a LIGHT melee attack do 130+ damage, heal you for 100+ AND reduce spirit resist by 12% making your cards hit even harder. melee items also just help you push wave much easier on wraith, as using gun takes way too long.
@@victorb7562 you’ll see in the build video, but generally spirit damage doesn’t do well in lategame in this game so i focus more on gun, with my cards just being to apply debuffs or to act as a little extra damage late.

not as good obviously, but still a good item as the stats on it are not bad at all, and most engagements are close range anyway. its only much worse on a hero like vindicta who likes a bit more range.
haze and it’s not even close. doesn’t matter what items people buy, the same items will just hurt wraith harder, and wraith is not as threatening. gonna be making a carry specific tier list very soon!
@@smeefubut because wraith has hybrid damage it forces enemy to spend more souls on both bullet and spirit shield which slows down the active items. You can got bullet against haze and then get active. I lose far more to wraith than haze. That being said they both being on the same team usually hurts them because they both want to flash farm which slows them both down. I think this build encourages more team play as wraith so that probably remedies that problem.
for sure, these guides are friendly for everyone and especially people just getting into the hero so i’ll talk about all nuances and hidden details with abilities. if you want a more advanced one wait for the build guide :)

when i tell you i hadnt looked at his channel before im not lying! my girlfriend does my thumbnails, and we have gone through a process of changing them a lot until they looked good to us. people who watched my first deadlock videos will remember the progress and how much we have changed them. his thumbnails do look similar, but i wouldnt say too similar! i would even say a couple of my thumbnails look nothing like his!
Nice video, but in my opinion she is SO weak at lvl 1. She only has 61 dps and it is easy to dodge the cards in lane. I find her to struggle hard in solo lanes. She cant fight anyone early and just get dumbstered :(

i usually get both infuser and spirit strike, but i will try swapping infuser out for ammo scav to see if i like it :)

I always stick to extremely high gun damage builds with wraith
Rushing vampric really helps against tanks like abrams and yea ofcourse toxic bullets

Maybe it's the build I use (cuz I do use a build that is inheritly meant for carrying) because I easily 1v4 teams. Even when they have good shutdown since wraith has the single best get out of jail free card in the game (the 20M+ tp on a 11ish cd)
@@smeefu True, tesla was nerfed, but think about how many times she can proc it in one clip anyways. While farming it becomes her best dmg source since she shoots for so long and solves her single target problem while shooting. Obviously you would sell it later but compared to literally every other 3k option. For camp farming and wave clearing I have seen none better than tesla.

intensifying mag is gonna give you almost 100% extra weapon damage while farming as you keep the buff up with quicksilver reload and active reload, WAY better item for farm speed, and also way better for pvp

@smeefu do you have recommendations on keybinds? I find it hard to manage all the combos with the default setup. Seeing you slide all the way around, spamming combos hitting the right keys is amazing and I can't grasp it
Curious as to why there's no mention of either tesla bullets or ricochet?
full build video tomorrow, but these items are just bad. ricochet doesnt do enough for wraith with the price, for haze it makes her ult insane and for infernus it applies afterburn to more targets but what does it do for wraith? nothing good. tesla bullets are bugged right now and have their internal cooldown doubled, resulting in half the procs than from before.
im still pretty new and bad at the game in general, but i want to get better as wraith bc i think she's so cool, so this video was helpful

they are absolutely horrible, plus the new patch bugged them out hard so the internal cooldown is double the length it is meant to be making them proc basically half the time they used to, awful.

@@the_odr9166 they arent THAT bad on wraith when they aren’t bugged, it does give her a farming speed spike but she really doesn’t need them to proc things like BRS as she has full auto and cards for that. so i just find it hard to spend 3k and a slot on the item when there are so many better items and your farming speed is still crazy fast

You said that she got poor AoE, but have you tried going Ricochet, that's the only thing you need to make her clear all and everything.. tho it's expencive, and you rarely get it/want it early b4 active reload and all that good stuff, it's still maybe my favourite upgrade on her.. :3
i just cant justify buying this item on wraith, it doesnt do enough for her. with haze it makes her ult incredible, infernus applies his afterburn to multiple targets, but wraith basically gets nothing other than some shared situation damage, too expensive for this hero i think :)

A lot of times I feel like I can't get the burst right when ulting someone. what's your order when shooting someone you ulted? I would assume shooting first as it's easiest when they are locked (with full auto, though I like to imbue QSR with it to always make use of the skill), then cards as they are easier to hit/track. but I see many ppl throwing the cards while the enemy is lifted - isn't that suboptimal?
throwing cards while they are lifted is only good if you need to reload and have card as the bind for QSR, or if you need to proc bullet resist shred as you have full auto on cooldown, OR if you are doing a spirit build. if you are doing the SUPERIOR gun build, then yeah throwing cards later into the game slows down your dps a lot.
i like to lift em, then immediately pop full auto as it hits them and track their head upwards and beam it.

I found myself super starved for flex slots especially around green and weapon items = any advice around that? basically couldn't buy a 6k item without selling a core item.
bonus question: I noticed that titanic mag and the 2nd recharge item are not shown on the build, is that on purpose as we should sell them? titanic mag at least seems like a no brainer (especially if cards fall off late)
you cant go from 2 ability points to ult, what do you mean?
that’s 3 ability points, the second talent in card trick will cost 2. and even if you couldn’t, of course this would mean you just save the points until the ult is unlocked.
Why not Shadow Weave on her? This item has everything you want : invis to gank, spirit, fire rate, ammo, shield, huge health regen to keep ganking and never go back to base.
How I play her is : find a high value target, go invisible with shadow weave, from invisibility use Telekinesis, Full Auto, Empty your mag, Card trick (which reload your gun with quicksilver reload), empty your mag again. No one can survive that, then project mind away.
Easiest ganker to play in this game.

@@smeefu I've seen it but disagree with how you play her. Wraith scale very well with fire rate and spirit. She is a very bursty hero, go in burst, go out with project mind. You are building her like you want to keep firing and stay in the middle of the fight like Haze and I think it works for you because you have good mecanics overall.
And this is clearly not the playstyle designers want to encourage. Her in game description is very clear on that : "Excelling at one-on-one combat, Wraith isolates targets, eliminating them with ruthless efficiency. then teleporting away before anyone can retaliate."
I'm not 100% sure but melees don't charge your cards right? So I don't think melee lifesteal is a great item for wraith (it is great in general). Your cards are extremely good poke and burst if the enemy pushes. Just buy close quarters for example to make your gun better and charge your cards. Moreover idk if leech is actually worth it because you have quite a lot of lifesteal from full auto, bullet lifesteal and if you buy it vampiric burst.
melee does charge cards. but in the full build video tomorrow you will see i also recommend spirit strike, these items together make a LIGHT melee attack do 130+ damage, heal you for 100+ AND reduce spirit resist by 12% making your cards hit even harder. melee items also just help you push wave much easier on wraith, as using gun takes way too long.
@@smeefu and then sell spirit strike for something more directly buffing card trick right? And melee lifesteal for leech or a counter pick item?
@@victorb7562 you’ll see in the build video, but generally spirit damage doesn’t do well in lategame in this game so i focus more on gun, with my cards just being to apply debuffs or to act as a little extra damage late.

not as good obviously, but still a good item as the stats on it are not bad at all, and most engagements are close range anyway. its only much worse on a hero like vindicta who likes a bit more range.
Does monster rounds help wraith charge her cards faster?
I always put slowing bullets, ricochet and Tesla Bullets on her. Quicksilver on her #1 as well. She becomes so broken.

Who’s the better carry, haze or wraith?
Lower ranks Haze, Higher ranks wraith. Haze gets shut down too hard by players who actually use active items lol
haze and it’s not even close. doesn’t matter what items people buy, the same items will just hurt wraith harder, and wraith is not as threatening.

@@smeefubut because wraith has hybrid damage it forces enemy to spend more souls on both bullet and spirit shield which slows down the active items. You can got bullet against haze and then get active. I lose far more to wraith than haze. That being said they both being on the same team usually hurts them because they both want to flash farm which slows them both down. I think this build encourages more team play as wraith so that probably remedies that problem.

when i tell you i hadnt looked at his channel before im not lying! my girlfriend does my thumbnails, and we have gone through a process of changing them a lot until they looked good to us. people who watched my first deadlock videos will remember the progress and how much we have changed them. his thumbnails do look similar, but i wouldnt say too similar! i would even say a couple of my thumbnails look nothing like his!

Nice video, but in my opinion she is SO weak at lvl 1. She only has 61 dps and it is easy to dodge the cards in lane. I find her to struggle hard in solo lanes. She cant fight anyone early and just get dumbstered :(
