I Initially got BLUD recommended by my animation lecturer for an animation project, despite using the game's animation for analysis only, the gameplay soon grew on me and I've been waiting for the release since. Nice review, I'll definitely be picking it up.

Got me this game on release and I have to say: Wonderull CN inspired animation, awesome boss fights, disturbing transformations clearly inspired by my fav. horror movie the thing, oh yeah, this games hits the spot on sooo many levels. Freakin love it. Still seem to have some technical difficulties here and there though

It's like buffy the vampire slayer if were made by cartoon network
cartoon network designs were never my thing, but they certainly had some gems like dexters lab. and this game seems to 100 percent capture that look.
They really nailed it, bravo!

As an artist myself it’s an 8/10
It might have some issues but I feel that they can easily be forgiven because of the overall charm.

I've been interested in this since I first heard about it, mainly because of that awesome visual style. I'm glad to hear that it mostly lives up to the hype it got, despite some quirks in the gameplay here and there. I think I'll be picking this one up sometime for sure. Thanks for the review.

@FlowerAngelRave the game Cookie Cutter from late 2023/early 2024 likewise boasts a really impressive and smooth hand-drawn 2D animated style, though the style and atmosphere itself is quite different from Blud. Can fondly recommend that game despite, likewise, some quirks (mainly by way of some enemy designs)

In my opinion with all details i think that is posible create a visual Novel game or similar like old fallout where you can talk and talk and get diferent ways to finish the game.
I just wish that it is coming to play station too in a future.

the artstyle is really cool, but i’d like to see a different game with it. a modern platformer maybe. this zelda lite style just doesn’t do it for me, tried several new games in the style. don’t know what it is.

Maybe Cookie Cutter may be more up your alley for the gameplay. Came out very late in 2023. Different art style and art direction, but likewise with very good hand-drawn 2D animations. Gameplay is 2D platforming, exploration and smooth beat-em-up combat.
Solid game.

Yes my criticism is the same, the game doesn’t lean enough into the dungeon crawling.
What was the length?
You can expect about 15-20 hours of gameplay!

I played the demo a while back and was hoping they would iron out some of the quirks in combat. Sounds like they didn't, which is such a shame as everything else looks spot on.
It still has some jank for sure but a fun game regardless!
I really dig the oh yeah cartoons, Dexter's Lab art style.
