You mentioned folding inwards by 4" for the shirt front piece for the button hole and also mentioned taking 1.5" inwards (pls, i don't understand)

The folding is straight forward folding. just bend it inwards by 4inches and use a pressing iron to hold it down
for the 1.5 turn it to the wrong face and sew 1.5 inches on the edge then cut the top by ½ inch to meet the end point of the 1.5 inches stitch then turn it to the right face and press with a pressing iron.
when you start the practical am sure you 'll get it and if you don't chat me up on Whatsapp

it's really straight forward phil, from the waist line place your tape rule down to 11.5 then you draw your thigh line and by so doing you be taken the measurement. this type of SHORT making is straight forward

@@sundayphilip2363 they are two ways to get that measurement. Its either you measure it which is mostly akward for persons other than yourself but it you do, divide it by 2 and use it for the front piece then add 1 or more to the back piece depending on the size of the bum OR you manipulate standards
STANDARDS
for belt trouser use 10 for adults cos addition of the waist band takes it to 11.5 or 12 or more depending on the size of the waist band
But for shorts like this without band your range is 11 to 13 inches depending on size
For kids its between 6 to 10 i.e from infants to early teenagers... I really dont do the divide by this and add that stuff
Mind you all these are for men

It is not static.... it depends on the size of your client. 15 by 13 for medium, 16 by 13 for big size and 15 by 12 for small size works
