  • Dr Tim returns to teach us about an anatomical feature that is central to successful aesthetic treatments because of their impact on the shape of the face; the harmony between structures; and its proportions. In this week's Aesthetics Mastery Show, we tackle the superficial fat pads.
We discuss fat pad depletion with age; the vital impact that fat pads have on the consultation process and educating our patients; and how we should use them to design injectable treatments.

Speaking from they experience of have the fat pads replaced, it really does elevate general well-being and put back a little extra confidence.

Hi, I was researching about the eye fat pads, and got confused about calling them superficial or deep.
I think I have come to understand that there's the orbital fat that's in the eye socket before the septum. Then I found that the "superficial" orbital fat pads are actually not really superficial? They seem to be under the orbicularis oculi muscle. Do I have that right, or is there fat on top of that muscle and between the skin?
I also have another question: Are the eyelids just layered of tissue/ligaments, muscle, and skin? I read that the eyelid skin is unique because it doesn't have fat.
So I just wanted to confirm or refute some of this information. Would really appreciate an answer to help me to fully understand.
    Thank you

Can Botox jabs into the facial skin cause fat loss?

    • @DrTimPearce

Botox works on the receptors, blocking the signals to the muscle from the nerve. It doesn’t affect fat.
Kind regards Mary. Clinical advisor for Dr Tim

      Thanks.
I forgot how deep the facial fat is and how the needles of Botox could not possibly penetrate so deep to reach that fat.
I'm terrified of any facial rejuvenation operation that may damage facial fat.
I heard how radio-frequency surgery may melt fat.
That's why I'm afraid of any energy-based rejuvenation surgery.
