A Level Biology, A2 level. Topic inheritance & Genetics - An explanation of autosomal linkage, showing how phenotype ratio is affected when genes are linked.
Just to add on. You mentioned that, because of autosomal linkage, the combinations in the middle wouldn’t work. However, technically they would form. It’s just in very low numbers and these can happen due to “crossing over” which changes a strand to be aB instead of ab or Ab instead of AB
Independent assortment is a separate idea. Autosomal linkage just refers to the position of the genes on the chromosome. It becomes relevant when crossing over occurs during meiosis.
This is definitely the most comprehensive and concise explanation I’ve found on autosomal linkage, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Finally, someone who can actually teach

thank you so much for this!! you made it sound so easy
I wish you were my teacher, I would never miss a class :'(
Thank you so much, very helpful!
RUclips teaches us more effectively than in class
so no independant assortment takes place in autosomal linkage ?

I love you
