Finally! A simple recipe. Most recipes they be doing too much adding flour, bread crumbs and lots of different seasoning. This is exactly what I was looking for the why my grandma and mom used to make them. Thank you
Southern Fried Green Tomatoes are always going to be a hit for me. Cornmeal salt and pepper does the trick every time. I hope y’all will give them a try! God bless!

Jackie, I finally made your fried green tomato recipes, which are soooooo good. I double-dipped. Oh my goodness, I'll be making those again and again. Thank you for sharing the recipe.. Bill
Hello, Jackie, I watched you prepare these fried green tomatoes and got so hungry they are on the menu tomorrow. Oh my gosh! Cornmeal double-coated and deep-fried. My home garden is producing an abundance of Brandywine tomatoes, and large slicers, and perfect for BLT's. But there are green and turning possibilities perfect for this recipe. The cast iron skillet is close at hand, and I will follow your direction. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Bill Bley
Miss Jackie, white Yankee boy here, I drooled on the screen watching this recipe come together! I think the double dipped ones will be a greater success with the 6 BIG STRAPPING boys I raised since I was 22 years old alone! I never got married- I was too busy raising these boys to go "wife hunting"! I'm creating a family recipe cook-book and, I need to put this recipe in it! I'm now 58 years young!🤓😁🐻❤️ Doug
Hey Douglas! That’s why I decided to start my channel. My grown children and some of my nieces and nephews would call and ask my how to cook this or that favorite dish and I’d give them the recipe. This way I share our family recipes and they will always be there for them. It’s sharing the love ❤️
Jackie, Yankee white guy here again. I would be surprised if my boys come to me-when no one's around, and, asks fo me for any "left-overs"!😇👍😁 I'll need to make extras, and, "stash" them off for later when my boys leave my home! You just know that the words: left-overs & big daddie's house don't get used on the same sentence!😁 Like oil & water, that just don't mix/not gonna happen! You'll NEVER find left-overs in my fridge!❤️🐻🤓😇😁👍 Doug
Hi Jackie I am watching this in August so I am hoping you all had a good summer I can’t tell you enough how much I love your cooking videos! I am making chicken tonight and I am going to be making some of these delicious fried green tomatoes with it. My husband is going to freak! Thank you Jackie😘
Hey Paw Prints! I just can’t get myself to like eggplant. It never has any taste at all to me. I’ve tried it 1000 ways and it’s always the same. Thank you for watching and God bless!
So glad you use Accent. I use straight MSG (which is Accent). MSG gets too much of a bad rap by critics who don't know what they're talking about. Your recipe is pretty much like mine, but I soak my slices in salt, the MSG and hot sauce for about 10 minutes before the dipping process.
I’m making these tonight and I always enjoy watching videos to see different recipes. Your recipe is very similar to mine. I also make my own ranch to dip them in. Loved your video!
Jackie I do make a vinegar slurry with flour instead of egg wash before putting it into corn meal. Try it😋 Jackie please speed the camera when frying 😉

Another great recipe/cooking video. I like to add a touch of cayenne and just a little lemon pepper, but the idea to put it on a cooling rack and paper towel after you dip them in the cornmeal is an excellent idea that I never thought of. Thanks for the Pro tip!!! And I agree - 100% cornmeal! I like to put them between a couple of slices of white bread, add some hot sauce and enjoy a fried tomato sandwich. 👍❤

Oh no you didn't...LOL I have been craving fried green tomatoes so bad the past several months and I run across this video and I'm at work and can't fix anything. My mater plants haven't done very well in this 100°+ heat so I don't even have any green ones. I wonder if the farmers market would have any.... hmmm. OR you could invite me over for a mess of em. And if I cooked, I would use the left over cornbread mix to dip salmon patties in...talk about some good eatin'! Wowza! Now I'm really hungry.
I use medium heat or in the 7-8 range if your burners has numbers. You will notice if your grease is too high because the food will cook too fast and start to burn.
Thanks... I followed the flour bread crumbs recipe from another channel too much and they were not like my Alabama born Mama's. I'm back to cornmeal only but she used plain but I will try self rising
Sometimes I like to use both. This Summer I’ve added more flour than cornmeal when I’ve cooked okra and fried green tomatoes. It makes the vegetable less gritty but delicious all the same🙏

After frying the fried green tomatoes what do you do with oil you fried them in Do you save or discard it?
I discard it in a big jug then take it to the land fill when full.
These sound great, but where would you get green tomatoes up north?
Try produce stores. Once tomatoes come in they usually have them too🙏
Is that seasoning, salt or is it garlic salt?

Random question, what do you do with the oil after you're done cooking?

2. You pour it in a container with the lid closed and throw it in your regular trash. This is what it says to do when you go on the waste management website. I get asked this question a lot.
