2 eggs optional
1 1/2 Cups Regular Yellow Cornmeal

Now I got it!! Yummy food. Love fried green tomatoes. My mom use to slice tomatoes and flour salt them and put them all in a skillet and fry like a skillet of fried potatoes. They were yummy too.

Love fried green tomatoes…My mother made these. Like most southern cooking its very simple, but if not cooked right they can be under cooked or to fried too long in too low of heat and be soggy with grease. Yours look delicious Miss Brenda.

Thank you! It's been so long since I've had these and surprisingly I found some green tomatoes at a local grocery store. I thought I remembered them just being salted, peppered, and in cornmeal. I am so happy to find this. So many other recipes now have flour and bread crumbs and all kinds of seasoning. I just want good old summer fried green tomatoes...old school. love it! Keep Cooking!

Also, I use a paper towel on a plate anytime I fry something.
Chicken, pork chops, fish etc...
I soak mine in buttermilk and use self rising flour salt and pepper. Have you ever tried them that way? I've done the cornmeal way and also cornmeal/self rising flour mix but I prefer mine with just self rising flour now. Yours do look delicious though I wish I could reach through the screen and get me a couple LOL

I mostly goes to farmers markets to get mine. Sometimes I find them in a grocery store (Sometimes you can ask a produce person if they have them or not)

I do not remember fried green tomatoes from when I was growing up. I remember my grandmother frying red tomatoes but not green ones. Then the movie Fried Green Tomatoes came out and I began to see them everywhere. Today, I love them. I have some green tomatoes outside right now that I may not let ripen. Your recipe looks good. I’ll probably not bother with an egg wash.
