Thanks. This is what I was looking for. No endless blah blah blah. Just very useful advice.
I want to get my 4 trees to become bushier, with a lot more branches and foliage and blossoms.
I found what I was looking for.

      Thank you for sharing!
I trimmed mine back about a month ago. No signs of new growth yet. It’s still quite cool in my zone 7a. Fingers crossed they show some life soon!

Thank you for the after shot. Game changer in understanding what the bush will do.

I am going to keep them trimmed pretty low at the waterfront each year. I really liked how they looked! Thank you for watching.

You have some beautiful Vitex trees, I am looking forward to seeing how they react to the pruning as they grow. There is a Bonide product, I think it's called sucker punch that is supposed to stop pruned trees from sending out water shoots. Generally though, I've been told that trees should only be pruned when dormant otherwise they will send out those straight shoots.
If anyone is interested in buying a vitex, I saw them on Gilbert H. Wild's site.

Oh my goodness! I’m so glad I was able to find you again. I did it! I had three beautiful Vitex in my backyard up in California high Desert. I planted them about a foot high and they were about 5 1/half feet high full and in glorious bloom every year. After I watched your video, I went out back and cut them all down to the ground. Telling myself not to be afraid 😅. Certain individuals are very upset with me, saying I killed them 😢 so now that I found your video again, and I see what you did, I realized I just may have done wrong. I cut them all the way down without leaving any leaves. Can you please advise? I’m so sad 😞 3:55
