- Gen Alpha may be the youngest generation around right now… but some members are already worrying about wrinkles. These young girls and their skincare obsession have become a popular target for online criticism - that they’re trashing beauty shops and ruining their skin. But, no one seems to agree on the best way to handle the trend. Is this a case of “let girls be girls” or is the pressure of beauty standards hitting an increasingly younger audience? In this week’s Stay Tuned, we unpack what’s really driving the trend and the different ways parents and experts are approaching it.

The parents are the enablers. The parents are the problem.
Fax, they see their kids as money makers.
Exactly. This is just extremely bad parenting and the examples those parents are setting.

@@mikelee9516 what they see when looking at their kids
I can’t believe they are calling a 6 year old a tween
Lol...yeah, she's somewhere 'tween 5 & 7
@@phoenixspirit9530 😂
What happened to tweens being 9-12
Thank you!
“I’m worried about her growing up too fast because of social media”……continues to give her daughter an iPad.
Insanity.
Bro wtf did I just watch? I can’t believe people think this is ok.
This is just child abuse.
ah yes a kid smiling and laughing doing something that makes her happy is 100% child abuse
@@cupid9866 happy? Yea she's happy but she doesnt need those products it could literally ruin her skin when she's older💀
why are yall saying "kids" when they only obviously target little girls to never age and encourage lil boys to...just be
Little boys get plenty of their own toxic messages, unfortunately.
A 6 yr old is not a tween, and why are they even on social media🙄 The world has always tried to tell women who to be, how to look, how to act. Sad to see these parents feed their own daughters these ideas of beauty which rely on products. How about teaching them to be self confident first.
And don't forget it's the mothers (women) who tell them what to look like, not the men
@@alsimanche Absolutely ... this featured women and only women destroying the minds of little girls so they can p***p them out for some sweet TikTok clicks .
If there were a responsible man involved in their lives there might be someone to say get my daughter off TikTok right now ...
and Oh... you don't have a working credit card anymore 💳
@@alsimanchemyopic point. many men respond to and reward it as does society value beauty in women and privilege it that’s why it’s the industry it is.
💯
LISTEN to the Beauty Reporter: “we are perpetuating a dangerous standard that a girl’s job and, in fact, a girl’s biological destiny is to be as beautiful as possible.” I’M WITH HER!
I am a licenced beautician. Skincare, especially any kind of cleanser and toner, are destroying the skin barrier, and damages the skin. In the long run, this whole thing not only ruins their self esteem but really will age them faster!! Seriously, their skin will look worse than untouched skin. The only thing you can use at a young age is an oil, fatcream or maybe a natural ingrediant moisturiser. But even that is usually not needed. SPF is the most important.
"I just wanna be like my mom, I just want to copy her"
Way to go mom, your daughter is going to have self image issues for her entire life.
Way to pass on your insecurities and obsession with your appearance.
They're literally making money off of children ...
The first thing that came to my mind as well. Add grandma who also is botoxed and has a ton of makeup on. Not only are they doing it to this little girl they are spreading it to others. The moms eyes were like 😳
*Parents are the problem. They are enabling their kids. They're too young for so many skin products. Obviously if their faces get dirty from foot, or from anything else like dirt, then yea wash with soap and water. These young children don't need so many skin products! They should enjoy their youth while they can, instead of obsessing and worrying so much with which skin care products they need (when they don't need them). The parents need to parent them better and not enable them.*
*Also young kids don't need to be on social media. It's a hazard for their overall health. Again, they should enjoy their youth while they can. Technology has changed so much over the years! I enjoyed my childhood a lot with zero social media (since barely to none existed). They can survive without it, and enjoy the world around them. It's quite sad this video.*
Maybe just use a basic cleanser and moisturizer, there’s no reason for them to get all these products.
PLEASE BE A PARENT ---- MONITOR WHAT YOUR KIDS DO ON SOCIAL MEDIA !!!
Being a parent is a long shot, first become an responsible adult and some how that too is hard for them to do coz it's opressing it's not an easy life
This is one among many reasons why TikTok should be completely banned from America, not just simply regulated, because people don't seem to know any better as to what to show their child.
Face wash, sunscreen, and lotion all makes sense for just about any age ... Make up tho? That's crazy for little kids they are calling tweens.
too much social media
I’ll say time and time again, kids are fried these days cause parents don’t know how to parent lmaooo good luck
This is the epitome of abnormal psychology ❗️
Ok.....This is disturbing. Wanting to mimic their parents/adults is a natural instinct of children. But this is just exploiting that instinct, in a way that sends a troubling message.
Dystopia
that girl who listed seven skin care steps has dark red heavy bags under her eyes - not a coincidence
This is exactly why social media shouldn't be for anyone under 18. Especially when it comes to Gen Alpha and Gen Z. Today's kids are growing up too fast. I blame the parents who let their grow up with phones and iPad and now think becoming a TikTok influencer will give them the relevancy they think they deserve. This needs to stop. Kids need to be kids.
i fear for those two young “influencers” with over 5million followers when theyre only six years old. as a parent you shouldn’t be exposing your children to the internet that way. they arent learning healthy social behaviors. and don’t get me started on the amount of creeps out there who are probably following them for awful reasons. these parents are harming their kids
Fax like the internet is not a kid friendly place at all no matter what corporations like youtube say
And people complain that they can’t make it in this economy, if you’ve ever been in Sephora or any place like it, you know its super expensive, small items cost major coin.
This is actually cornering insanity 🤯
I'm thinking of my 5 year old niece who loves makeup, but she has play makeup that she adores.
Same reason they came out with play kid “makeup” back in the day. Remember Tinker Bell makeup?? I remember I had a compact powder that broke the second I opened it because it dropped. I was like 7. My dad tried to repress it with water and I was so upset lol
Or the clear Bonnie Bell lipgloss!
Parents are nuts. " you want to use whats appropriate for your skin".
Crap. Shes trying to gaslight and create a different brand 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Absolutely.
It's so disgusting how they put their kid's on social media for profit. I'm Gen Z and when I was 6 I was still watching cartoons on TV (plus i didn't have internet till 2020 at my house). I don't want Gen Z to be the last generation with a proper childhood, I can tell you rn that when im a parent I will not give them social media access till their 13 and that's with restrictions. The internet is not a place for children no matter what companies say.
Just learnt a few days back about a new term " Sephora kids" apparently it's young kids starting at age 7 who have "good skincare routine" ( total BS according to me). Let kids be kids no need for these crappy routines for them.
Mild soap and water, or just plain water most of the time for kids
2:00 MOM is not helping.
And now she is going to make money off other kids.
So the makers of this new skincare product say a gap in the market is ages 6-12. Are you kidding me? No child needs any of this.
The parents are missing chromosomes
What mother, father, or any parent would want their 6yo girls wearing make-up or worrying about wrinkles? Let them be kids! It's is the ONLY TIME they have in their whole life to just be kids & not worry about grown-up things🥺
This is the parent's fault. Period. Older moms vicariously re- living their youth through their young daughters.
Madness to see such little girls obsessing over skincare lol
In elementary school twenty years ago, there was a girl in my class who wore make up. Full face lipstick, eye shadow, and mascara, and blush. It was considered weird then and her mother who wore a lot of make up was judged for allowing her daughter to dress and style make up like a stripper
This is disturbing. My kids aren't on social media at all. What is wrong with these parents???
I mean the mom seems to have issues with cosmetics and procedures herself.
Kid 6: we need to smooth those wrinkles away...
😮
6-10 is for wooden makeup 😭
The West is Raising Narcissist
Narcissism isn’t unique to the west. They occur in all cultures around the world
@@islandbirdw But unfortunately we are the ones that reward these behaviours.
The level of chemicals, microplastics, and indocrine disruptors in these products... what are they doing to developing bodies?
Let's talk about the lack of regulation in skincare products and make up.
Who’s close captioning this?
🤣 I gave up. It was awful!
This is nothing but Early entry into Psych disorders. My kids will be doing sports and community activities, having fun with friends, and not lathering their faces of lotion.
I have a tween who wants high end skincare. They want a lot of things that they don't need, and they don't understand. I, as the parent, explain it to them and we move on. They get appropriate things for their age. I also explain to them that skincare is not a magic solution. What they eat and drink, and do not consume, will make a lasting impact on their wellness.
Parents have to be adults and be willing to say No, and explain when necessary.
The mom and grandma are shallow and don’t want to take time to do that.
My daughter does watch beauty influencers at all… BUT she does see her mama do her skin care routine every morning and every night… she’s into it because she’s sees me do it. She’s dying to be a big girl like mama. That’s natural. So we do chocolate masks and avocado masks , clean simple and natural. I’d rather her do that than get burned by salicylic acid products lol.
"No" is an important word some parents don't seem to know
What do the dermatologist have to say about this. Is it beneficial to start early or will it have the opposite affect
Toner dries out the skin so it will have the opposite effect in that regard.
You’re all sick. Money over everything
Why always same people
2:29 "It's targeted at what they consider a gap in the market; kids six through twelve"
this is capitalism's ugliest face
A six-year old is NOT a tween.......!!
I’m 34 and my “skincare routine” is a cheap make-up removing cream like Ponds, white Oil of Olay bar soap in the shower, a homemade white or brown sugar and jojoba oil scrub 1-2x’s a week to exfoliate. All followed with Cetaphil Moisturizer Cream daily/nightly. I do splurge on Botox. I’m Caucasian so I do use SPF on face and neck if I might be out on a sunny day. I get compliments on my skin all the time and people are shocked when I tell them this is all I do for a “skincare routine.” 🤷♀️😂
This is on the parents, their fault 💯
Ya know whats appropriate for their skin? Freaking baby shampoo!! This makes me feel so sick to my stomach, my heart breaks for these little girls. Yes, we should be shaming the moms. Absolutely.
Also y is a little child on social media or even allowed a phone
My kids couldn’t even have a phone till they were 13
I blame the parents and THEIR parents too!
this is terrible…thank goodness for the one lady who talked about consumerism and social construct of beauty
You should re-submit that in all caps.
The mom is encouraging her! Showing her.
We set a trend for them now we complain...... It's not just social media but parents as well
It all starts with the parents 🙄
I’m disgusted
It’s a 50/50 blame. Social media and parents for allowing it.
Dear God. What 6-year-old has wrinkles? I naively thought that youth provided its own radiance.
"Inside Gen Alpha's *PARENTS* controversial obsession with skincare"
Social media has ruined our lives. Blame Myspace, facebook, and instagram folks. Actual human interaction is a thing of the past, and we will suffer for its continuance.
Give them a gentle cleaner and lotion, i prefer coconut oil instead of lotions, and sun screen.
I blame the PARENTS
Lord... what DID I just watch? 😢
This just felt like a bad ad for skincare. 😩😭😢😢
It was.
I understand wanting to imitate your mom or your big sister. I did too but this is really unsettling. encouraging an unattainable beauty standard and that beauty is the only thing that matters.
She should be investigated
These young kids dont need skincare period. Its a gimmick.
They dont need expensive skincare. So bizarre.
These parents are delusional.
I didnt use skincare until i was 40 and realized its a marketing gimmick waste of money.
That is because parents let it happen. I have kids in the alpha generation and they do not obsess over social media or skincare.
Don’t take your kid to Ulta. Block social media. Don’t let your kids watch stupid things on the internet. Also the mom while young has a lot of Botox and since Quinn “wants to be like her mom” is giving her a complex. So many young girls are never going to feel they are never enough.
Why would a mother want to abuse their child like this? Because she is merely an extension/accessory to her disposable mother raging ego!
Plus Money
I can't believe the mom lets her use retinol! Dangerous for kids.
A gap in the market? It's because they don't need anything a part from moisturizer and SPF
This is sad. When I was 6 I was just happy to play outside and get a happy meal. Kids need to be kids and not worrying about wrinkles at that young. It's one thing for the moms to be into but not the kids. That gen is going to have fragile egos and image issues as they age. Whatever happened to loving yourself?
Sigh.... people are saying the parents are the problem 😒🙄... But not the "beauty industry"? This new standard of beauty and makeup?....And social media???? when I was growing up around their age I too wanted to be just like my mom and emulated exactly what she did in private because there was no social media and "beauty standards" weren't so extreme..she would use ponds cream, eye shadow, and lipstick... That's it! But if she was using 20 different creams and serums then I would want to be doing that too at that age ... My point is... This goes way deeper than the parents...
It's called saying NO mommy. You may want to learn that.
Man when I was a kid we all wanted to be older/ an adult. What happened. We made adulthood so bad Gen A doesn’t wana participate
Gen Alpha, Alpha really ?? They are not even Beta Gama. Bottom of the food chain generation.
It’s not their fault. It’s who raised them..
Bad kids and worse parents. No place in society for either. Utterly disgusting!
I'm sorry, developing beauty products for the younger generation is still wrong. A 6 year old should not be putting on make up or cleansers at that age.
“i just want to be like my mom. i just want to copy her” :(
This is obviously how the companies are advertising now , paying for these people. Sad though
This is absurd!😱😬🙄🤦🏻♀️
These are NOT tweens!!! What is wrong with you parents???
First I thought tweens were 11-13 year olds. Also this country is obsessed with consumerism. This country worships capitalism and consumerism…it’s so out of hand.
Parents are the PROBLEM
Let the kids know the earlier they start putting make ups, the bigger the pores later as they are older.
Not skin care…make up 😂 teach the young men to keep a wet wipe in his pocket. Kids aging crazy 😂
Those kids are going to look like catches mitts in 5 years
Whaddya expect! Gen Z's raising Gen Alpha!
this is NOT OK!
Ugh...I wish there was some line between "6 year olds can use makeup" and "girls have no inherent interest in beauty, its a social construct". Both things are insane. Why does everyone have to be so extreme? That reporter could've actually won some hearts here, but she had to take it all the way...she's sitting there with lipstick and eye makeup on saying "its all a construct". Just admit it makes you feel nice lady, sheesh.
Typical iPad generation and absolutely shameful
Any parent allowing their six year old to use retinol is a CRIMINAL.
Better than beauty pageants
This is offensive and disrespectful to say this about young girls, let them be, you not letting them be is extremely disrespectful and restrictive
What is gen Alpha someone explain 🤔
The generation younger than Gen Z. So on average, those born after mid 2000's.
