  • To fish on the surface for salmon and sea trout is maybe the most exciting way to challenge these majestic fish. It was Peter B. Christensen that influenced our foam skaters. He’s a master of getting both Danish sea trout and Norwegian salmon to come to the surface. This odd little foam tube with its swinging legs looks down to the fish and make them come and chase it. It’s light and unsinkable whether you fish it free float or skate it over wavy fast water.

That was an interesting episode. I caught my first salmon on a big skating Chernobyl Ant on the river Kharlovka in the year 2005. And have caught many more salmon on that fly and several other foam flies since. Mainly on rivers on the Kola Peninsula, but also a few salmon in the river Ætran and then it has been right next to and almost in the Mørum river and the Gaula river. But it is so true that you have to fish with skating dry flies even when the conditions are perfect, because then the chance of success is much greater. And it is nothing less than fantastic to experience a large salmon catching a fly on the surface. Knæk og Bræk

Love this kind of fishing.(gaula) Adrenalin rush on any reaktion and the variation of normal fishing ( foam bomber with bag shield) Fishing it skating when standing at main current, and in the end of current where we usely stop fishing because of too slow current, then i fish a bit further dead drift and jiggle a bit with the line and pause then jiggle again, so the fly vibrates like an Living insekt/bug (blank water).
Two rods of cause, one float and another sink, too laesy to shift lines and therefore better chance using the foam flies ✌️😅
    Very long leader 18-20feet
    This is my setup.
    Tight lines
