- The British standard classic with its fantastic colour combination. This is a softer even deadlier version - a must in the box for rivers all over the world. The black/orange/yellow hair, hackles and synthetics can be varied in many different ways. This one is quite flashy and big with discrete soft moving hackles. Overall, a fly that works in many places, in many sizes. Add rubber legs for sea trout or murky waters - they do give the fly some extra sound.

Can't go wrong with a willy gunn and a excellent video.
Very nice fly. And these rods and reels looking good too.
Thanks 👍
Great fly! Great video! I look forward to your “chat” videos! You are quite the storyteller!!!
haha... well thanks for that... hope we time to light up the fire soon!
Mikael the new rods and reels look awesome and loving the Salar caps.
Thanks Paul! Yhee ... I am very happy to how it all turned out. Time to get one - I get You a cap too! ;-)
The original Willie Gunn salmon fly has a blended topping with the red, yellow and black deer hairs rolled together to give a uniform consistency of colouration I knew Willie Gunn , he drove for the Duke of Sutherland and he used to fish from a shelf of rock ar the lower end of the Rock Pool on the tidal stretch of the River Brora. I often saw him playing salmon there.
The fly was invented by a gentleman from the south who gave Willie a set of four patterns to try and that was the one which caught the most salmon.
It has been given some odd names like Wiley Gun. , presumably by an American
Thanks Douglas the origin behind flies are always of great. importance!
No doubt this version will tempt many more Salmos on any river. Shall be having a go at the smaller size. Mikael, is there any chance you can persuade Salar to produce the gold Double TF hooks again? Cannot source them anywhere. Probably a big ask? Thank you for the amazing videos.
Yes - The SALAR hooks are on our list... we are on it!
